Hearty fish soup noodles, apparently quite famous here with the queues at mealtimes and it's said you must try the fried mackerel. An old name - pretty good but didn't wow for me though still worth a try. #fishsoup #toapayoh #sghawker
Simple, rustic, yet so good. The tender, savoury salty duck meat comes easily off the bone, while the creamy mashed potatoes, earthy shiitake mushrooms, and bright oranges round out the plate.
Chilled buckwheat soba noodles, crunchy edamame, marinated mushrooms, pickled microgreens, and a sweet salty roasted cod loin that is beautifully oily.
Dressed in a tangy, sour savoury lime and sesame sauce. Clean, tasty!

The salted egg yolk ben as compared to the one we tried at Drury Lane this was quite a disappointment. Taste of salted egg yolks was hardly noticeable but the prawns were well marinated if only it's a tad less saltish. End up its was the pork bun (ζ£θ) that stole the show. Didn't expect a cafe to fare this well in this Asian cuisine. The skin was braised to perfection. We don't take fatty meat but in this case we finished EVERYTHING. Unlike the usual where lettuce are normally used Merriment uses ι Έθ in addition to lettuce. Nice twist there. Will back for the pork bun. ππΌ
Surprisingly tasty economical beehoon loaded with black fungus, cabbage and carrot. Tasted a tinge of sesame sauce which goes down super well on my picky taste bud. Go for the chicken wing ππΌ thou could be made taste perfect if it's hot. Coffee beans by local roaster. Great artisanal coffee serve @ mini price tag.
Meet Strawberry Watermelon Bandung Cake, the pretty sweet young thing from Cream and Custard! Right in the middle is a layer of sweet and refreshing watermelon fresh, which is surrounded by 2 layers of what tasted like sweet crumbly tart (made of almonds according to the boss). Right at the top is a layer of rose flavored light whipped cream, fresh strawberries and grapes. A very enjoyable cake! Never knew that Bandung and watermelon could go this well! By the way, Bandung is not in its original name but I felt compiled to include it because the subtle Bandung taste made a big positive impact to this cake IMO. Have to add that the service here is great too! All smiles and always ready to serve. When I was there, a child broke their plates and they were very nice about it. Absolutely no irritation was shown with their top priority being whether the child was hurt. Cafe is small but bright and nicely decorated. Come support them if you are near Tiong Bahru. There's this particular coffeeshop that I always past by whenever I am out for a jog and it will always be crowded even though of its slight inconvenient location but little did I know that it's actually recommended by many food bloggers previously.
Reference to @misstamchiak where she highly recommends the Prawn Noodles ($10) in her blog post, this dish is only available from Mondays to Fridays. It is a different kind of fried hokkien noodles, not commonly seen elsewhere as it is a variation of the wet and dry versions. You can clearly taste the wok hei from every spoonful of noodles and it gets so addictive that we wiped the plate clean within minutes. The usual seafood such as sotong and prawns were part of the supporting cast but the lead has definitely got to be the noodles, which is also different from the norm.

Loved their crispy breaded exterior which is quite light and within contains pieces of thick and succulent fish! Also loved how thick and crispy their fries are, not to forget the lightly toasted buttery bread to end this meal off!
Butter chicken and the other dishes were meh. Only the salted egg squid is worth the trip. Crispy and tasty!
Waited for half an hour outside the cafe as it's peak hours (understandable). The waiter was very concerned and friendly,always check on us while we were waiting. The dining area was rather small for big groups and even for the staff to move around. But I'm very satisfied with the food. Their servings was very generous and not bad at allπ thumbs up!
