Kuri Buta Katsu Kare I hear many people rave about this place for their decent Japanese foods. And decided to make my way to Yishun for this. Located at Junction Nine, which you still need to take a bus from Yishun Bus Interchange; or you don’t mind burning some calories by foot. I’m actually surprised with the size of their deep-fried panko breaded chestnut pork. It is so tender. The curry also very delicious that I finish the whole thing, thankfully they don’t mind providing me another bowl of curry to go with.

Spicy bulgogi beef with cheese don It should come as no surprise that we are big fans and frequent customers of Ichi Umai. In the spirit of adventure, we have started to venture into non-signature dishes on their fairly extensive menu. The spicy bulgogi beef with cheese don will suit those who like a fiery kick. The cheese does help to ameliorate the fiery kick but it is a little too spicy for our liking.

Part 7/7 - Unagi Fried Rice The Unagi Fried Rice tasted pretty good, though we wished there was a more generous portion of unagi.

Yuzu Scone, Viet Drip coffee ($5 + U.P. on Burpplebeyond) When a scone crumbles easily upon being forked, you’d be skeptical about it; truly the one here was a tad dry. But the viet drip coffee and sourdough Banh Mi on Burpplebeyond would keep me coming back.

Cosy cafe with tasty banh mi! Ordered 2 sourdough banh mis- Grilled egg and lemongrass chicken. They were served warm with some fresh pickled veggies. Super yummy and perfect as breakfast/snack! Thoroughly enjoyed my white drip coffee (iced) too- so gao (thick) and fragrant 😄Very value for money with Burpple Beyond 1-1!

Lemongrass chicken noodles This understated cozy joint serves amazing sourdough banh mi which is baked fresh in house , amazing pho , and amazing dry noodles . But the highlight is the Vietnamese drip coffee

Coffee & Matcha 5 ⭐️/5 Ordered the Coffee & Matcha flavoured Dalgona under the 1-for-1 deal. Both drinks were really fragrant & flavourful. The staff were friendly as well! Will definitely be back to try other flavours as it’s definitely worth the price. Do stop by for a quick coffee fix if you’re in the area!

tamoya udon curry udon with beef - my go-to order! always love curry udon because i find that udon noodles always go so well with the slightly sweet/spicy japanese curry, and the beef slices are also such a great pairing. 8/10

Black Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen ($13.80) hmmm we wanted to try it out for udon initally in the end but we went after movie ended. I didn't aware that the shop will be closing ard 9.15 p.m. on the weekdays night. Decided to try it out their ramen but I felt that their ramen was quite thin and not really having dent texture. But their tonkotsu really got a lot of fat inside the meat itself and also don't go towards to their closing hours.

Kakiage ($2.50) always order this tempura whenever I went there :") I think they got adding more vegetable inside the tempura? but then always my favourite tempura ever. I didn't see that their tempura display on the counter anymore :") and cannot choose from the counter anymore.

yuzu mango latte ($7) this tasted like mango pomelo sago!!!🥭🥭 so yummy and i swear the oat milk (+$1) made it better. can't taste the coffee though but this kept me UP

Bad service, bad coffee Tried the mint coffee (kohito) and dark choc drink for $7.5 total with burpple. Dark choc was not sweet (good for those who prefer non sweet drinks), but did not taste very chocolatey to me too? Mint coffee was rly bad imo, sour coffee + toothpaste. What put me off the most was the service. The ordering place has 2 windows, one connected to the road outside and one connected to indoor seats. When my buzzer rang, i tried collecting from the window connected to the indoor seats since that made the most sense? But the staff told me I hav to exit the cafe to go outside to collect. When they could have literally grab my drink, turn their body n pass to me. The booth they were in was rly tiny btw. And when leaving the place i thot i was alr kind to clear my own cups, i placed them at the window connected to indoor again cos there were no dustbins. The staff then told me to exit the cafe n throw in the green bin outside. Uhh ok. Then can someone tell me whats the window connected to the indoor cafe for?

Matcha White Chocolate Mochi Muffin ($4.50) The texture of the mochi muffin is quite interesting - very chewy but dense, like a cross between chewy bread and mochi. The matcha and white chocolate flavours are just average. Quite overpriced for the small size and average taste, wouldn’t buy again but it was okay just to try once, to experience a different texture and mouthfeel (don’t expect to be mind blown or anything). We visited on a Sunday and it was fairly quiet. I like the concept of the cafe, it was very spacious and cozy. Perfect for chilling or doing some work over coffee.

coffee 141 kohito $7 dark mocha $7 (i think the online menu states $7.50 for both drinks, probably not updated) i think these drinks were okayyyy nthg to shout about. kohito was an interesting mix of ice black + milk + mint, which takes a few mouths to get used to the taste. defo not for everyone but interesting combination nonetheless. dark mocha’s cocoa taste kinda overpowered the coffee taste have to take escalator up and it’s located in the middle (on the left after coming up)

Hot flat white and iced matcha latte. 1for1 Coffee tasted pretty normal and matcha latte felt too diluted. Pales in comparison with Hvala. Luckily it is 1for1.

Spaghet lunch 🍝 The marinara spaghetti was not bad for a Thursday lunch with the coworkers ✨ but the sauce was a bit underwhelming in the sense that there wasn’t that much flavor to it. But I did enjoy the pasta- it was more of like a linguine type! And the seafood was okay as well, again, it didn’t really have much flavor to it?? I guess this dish overall was okay but I feel like there are other amazing pasta dishes you can get for a cheaper price at other places. I guess this place is more catered to meats/bbq/grilling that kind of thing so I can understand why their spaghetti wouldn’t be amazing ya kno? Deal used: 1-for-1 main dish lunch

Chicken thigh The chicken was juicy and the accompanying salad was surprisingly tasty. The mashed potatoes were ok. The sauce could have been better but overall with a Burpple 1 for 1 deal it was a yummy and value meal.

Nice food to pair with beer or wine Seafood risotto was delicious. Ingredients were fresh and generous. My hubby had the chicken. Sauce was also delicious. We ended the meal with the pistachio dessert. Not really to my liking abit too sweet. And the ice cream was pandan flavour. Not pistachio. Was expecting for pistachio ice cream hehehe. Spicy Crab Pappardelle | $24 Chilli crab pasta with cherry tomatoes, bird’s eye chillies, topped with shredded cheese and green pesto.

Crispy fish tacos $25++ The dish was served really quickly. There were 3 tacos, with crispy taco shells that tasted like nacho chips, with one piece of fried halibut fish tender in each taco, topped with some mayonnaise and mango salsa. It was overall very flavourful, with many different flavours from the mango, mayonnaise and sauce. The fish itself was fresh and tender and crispy on the outside. There were also fresh curly fries and salad which were all delicious.

Chili Crab Pasta $26+ Portion was quite generous, and the chili crab given was also very generous! Flavour wise was not too salty and spicy, tasted like tomato-base with some chili, served with pine nuts, which added a crunch to the dish.

Go to place for Frozen Yuzu Beer! Great frozen beer - thick layer of foam was almost like an ice-blend consistency. Happy hour promo of $26 for 2 glasses was pretty worth it. Yuzu recommended, lychee was quite strange. Skewers wise, we ordered the Set of 8 for $15 which was quite worth it and we were very satisfied with the taste. Pork Belly, pork ribs, chicken wings, potato slices were all good. Added on the Foil-wrapped enoki ($6.90) and we loved the garlic topping.

Takeaway Late Night Snack Shishamo and pork ribs were my fav & it’s not hard to guess why. Prawn-Wah were alittle too hard & dry. Mushrooms tend to get soggy if you’re taking away. Broccoli gets alittle mushy and oily the longer you delay. Recommend to eat fresh in-store unless you would like to avoid the BBQ smoke and loud crowd.

Great food, nice staff Food was so yummy and staff were so friendly!! We redeemed the 20 free 20 sticks promo, but it was way too much for 2 pax so we “take-away” the remainder. The staff were very kind to let us know we could take-away if we couldn’t finish, and did not make us feel paiseh about it haha. Food is very yummy and I’ll be back! Btw each stick is $1.80 to $2.80ish but really worth it with the promo!
