This airport lounge themed airport has a really cute vibe from the printed menus to desserts being distributed in paper cups. The lobster itself was disappointing though as it was dry. Youād think they would more carefully cook their namesake dish. The aglio olio was great though as was the mushroom soup. It was fun to try once and at least a good deal with burrple beyond.
My friends and I were lamenting the lack of good Korean restaurants here but this is definitely one of my go to Korean restaurants now. They have a mix of traditional and modern dishes that are moderately priced for the environment (modern and a bit fun).
Two great dishes:
- calamari - great spices and fried well
- Kalbi - well seasoned and so juicy
I love Vietnamese food and the flavors are decently authentic with star anise coming through in the pho and a subtle crunch of wood ear mushrooms in the cha gio (spring rolls).
But I will not return due to the following:
- service was rushed and servers only gave items like PLATES when we asked
- portion size was ridiculously small. My small child could have easily finished 3 tiny spring rolls and was still hungry (I managed to get one of them)
- they heavily advertise a buy 1 get 1 main for dine in. But seafood pictured on the page isnāt included which is 1/3 of the page. Also the cashier forgot to actually take off the price of the free item. I had to go back and fix this.
Iām still looking for a good Vietnamese place but wonāt be spend money here again.
This fast casual Korean spot combines salad/rice bowls with Korean flavored proteins (short rib, pork, chicken, tofu) for an easy meal. Each bowl (S$10 onwards) comes with 5 toppings from corn to bean sprouts. I picked a short rib (actually more bulgogi) with salad. I asked them to put in a little Kimchi rice which had a decently sour kimchi with white rice. Iād visit again for a minimally guilty meal.
This homey yet luxurious crab fried rice is ultimate comfort food. The accompanying egg and crab sauce is creamy and rich. Itās the kind of dish that makes you feel warm and fuzzy.
This seasonal fish was delicate in texture and flavor. Itās simply a fresh, mild and tasty fish. The flying fish roe was the perfect topping.
Sometimes it seems like truffle is on EVERYTHING right? There are times when the truffle essence is light or not really necessary. This is not one of those times; this truffle pizza ($36) is a perfect use of truffles. The pungent flavor meets its match with fontina and they create a wonderful creamy consistency. The crust is also light and crispy.
This is the pizza to eat on cheat days, treat yourself days, and when you want all the carbs. Itās one of my favorite dishes in Singapore and so worth it.
Beautifully cooked octopus (S$27) with a refreshing fennel and herb salad. There is the perfect amount of acidity balanced with the savory octopus. Iād definitely get this again.
This signature egg caviar (S$38) is a luscious, creamy shot topped with caviar. It has a mild alcoholic taste and is certainly interesting though I didnāt love it enough to order it again.
Iāve never had grilled fish buffet but this is just a (usually spicy) soup base with a grilled fish on top. Then you can add your own ingredients. We started off with pork belly, prawns and various vegetables which donāt seem like big portions.
You can order more but be warned - subsequent portions can be big! Go easy on the carbs too so you donāt fill up (hand pulled noodles pictured were great in the broth!) There is technically a S$10/100 grams surcharge for wasted food though we didnāt get charged. Donāt order too much though!
The S$39 grilled fish buffet is a great deal (also on Burpple Beyond). We chose the mala (left) and spicy fragrant fish which was tender, full of spice and not for the faint of heart. The wait is long on a
Saturday night so make reservations. Otherwise service is fast and effective. I also didnāt realize you get your choice of dozens of ingredients from fresh prawns to pork balls and Chinese cabbage. Weād definitely visit again.
The classic Spanish paella comes in a few forms here, including the meat worthy Iberian pork one here. Small Iberian pork spare ribs are dotted across this paella along with pork sausage. The meat is thankfully tender since itās still on the bone and the rice is flavorful with that lovely charred/crispy bottom. Itās $20/person ($40 for a 2 person portion and $80 for a 4 person portion). Itās lovely for sharing, especially while enjoying the beach view.
