Great Noodles Had the ebiko prawn w small flat noodles — the noodles are made fresh, and the tomato soup was tasty. Looks as great as it tastes. The egg was made to perfection. Used 1-for-1 here, $13.90 for two bowls.
Noodles and Side Dishes Popped by Eventasty at the newly opened Funan Mall as there is a one-for-one deal on Burpple Beyond:) You can choose from 5 types of noodles of varying thickness. The Braised Wagyu Beef Noodles in Signature Tomato Soup Base ($15.90) features Wagyu beef cubes and lava egg in a sweet and tangy bowl of tomato soup. I chose normal noodles which was too soft for my liking, but I learnt that you can request for the noodles to be harder when you place your order. I like that the soup is quite rich and flavourful and the Wagyu beef is very soft. I also tried Vinaigrette Ebiko Prawn Paste Dry Noodle in Mushroom Sauce ($11.90) which is very fragrant and delicious, especially with a dash of fried chilli sauce for an extra oomph. I chose the thickest flat noodles and requested for it to be harder, which turned out perfect as there was good bite to the noodles. The prawn balls are fresh and bouncy. You can also add $3.20 to complete your meal with a side and a drink. The Tofu with Century Egg is tossed in a very fragrant chili sauce, while the Marinated Beef Shank with Shredded Cabbage is very flavourful. Overall, the noodle dishes are quite enjoyable (I like that you can customise the texture of the noodles to your liking) and side dishes are surprisingly good.
For 1-for-1 Main Dish (save ~$14.90) Put this Halal joint on your to-go list for hand-pulled la mian in Funan Mall. Order the Vinaigrette Ebiko Prawn Paste Noodle ($13.90), which sees bouncy ebiko prawn paste and a lava egg in a thick, tomato-based broth. For something lighter, the clear Braised Wagyu Beef Noodle ($13.90) with tender beef slices should fit the bill. Pro-tip: The la mian is on a softer side here, so request for it to be less done if you prefer your noodz chewy! Photo by Burppler Yan Fang Lim

The Taste of Healthiness This bowl of hakka YTF with thunder rice ($6.80) is quite a unique fusion "don". - First up, I loved the meatballs and stuffed tau pok. They were flavourful and had a meaty juiciness complemented by a nice crispiness. - Plus the rice itself was a great mix of textures, as the crunchiness of the different greens combined with the short grained rice and sauce. The earthy taste profile of the rice and the thunder tea simply provided so much comfort.
Hakka Thunder Tea Tofu Bowl ($6.80) Price is a little steep for hawker food, but what to do when healthier food are generally priced higher anyway 😔😔 But this was pretty worth it considering the amount of effort that went into this bowl! Loved the handmade meatballs and tofu stuffed with minced meat and we really wished there were more!! Thunder tea rice wise, they could definitely use with more varieties of ingredients (maybe chye poh or some nuts) but the tea soup was pretty on point in flavour 😋😋 Would definitely try this again next time I’m in need of a clean comfort food fix!

Mentaiyaki Kaisendon Set ($25.90) The Burpple Beyond Set was a crowd-pleaser with two tamago pieces and a bowl of chirashi don, both slathered in mentaiko mayo sauce. The freshness of the lightly seared raw fish coupled with the charred flavour of the mentaiko sauce was a match-made in heaven. A nice salty touch from the salmon roe and seaweed were added on as garnishes.
Burpple Beyond Set (Kei Kaisendon Signature) Ideal as a set dinner for a slightly little portion size but a full-course meal, their Burpple Beyond Set was pegged at S$25.90 for 2, yet complete with Donburi, salad, soup and four pieces of Mentaiyaki Tamago. This deal had justified that the meal was indeed value for money. While I would not say that the ingredients in the Kei Kaisendon Signature were exactly premium, given that I was not counting the number of pieces of each ingredient would probably mean that the portion was still considered decent. The other way to prove this was that the rice was completely buried under the seafood and such. #BurppleBeyond
#BurppleBeyond Set ($25.90) I love it when places with chirashi dons join Burpple Beyond and this is the hot newcomer in that category! Theirs features a set which includes a don, tamago mentaiyaki, salad and miso soup which definitely makes it a full meal. I won’t lie when I say I wish there was a little more fish and a little less cucumbers, but the mix of salmon, tuna, swordfish was still quite satisfying. Add on the yummy sides and this is a spot to revisit if I’m ever back in the area. #Burpple #BurppleSG #whyidonthaveabs #bodyplump #foodporn #foodiesg #sgfood
