Throwback to a few weeks ago! Second visit to Habitat Coffee. Great ambience and service :) Their dishes were quite satisfying except that maybe the smoked salmon was a little too salty for my tastebuds. Overall, it was worth visiting again!

Known for rich stock bases, the 'Ma La Tang' and 'Old Faithful Chicken Stock' in particular, this value-for-money buffet always attracts a big crowd. Their signature mouth-numbing Ma La really packs a punch -- order only if you can handle spice. Premium ingredients like abalone are available for a la carte orders as well. Nicely decked out in red lanterns and oriental Chinese decor, this Sichuanese country house vibe will complete the experience. It's perfect for a group gathering of about 10 or more, just book their private room and make as much noise as you like while stuffing yourself silly!

Part-steamboat part-grill, get the best of both worlds by indulging in a mookata experience. Here at MooJaa, the service is great and the variety and quality of ingredients is high, making it a good choice for when mookata cravings hit. Choose from the Set Moo for 2 ($45+), King Moo set for 3 ($60), or a la carte buffet ($32+). The a la carte buffet allows you to add premium items like clams, scallops and prawns to make your soup nice and sweet, and also gives one serving of either US Angus Beef or Kurobuta Pork Collar slices. Be sure to try their two special chilli dipping sauces which nicely complement the meats!

Despite the long waiting times (up to 2 hours), you will still find people eagerly waiting in line. Hai Di Lao provides free manicures, board games, fruits and snacks while you wait, keeping you perfectly happy. Choose from seafood, chicken, laksa, or their ever-popular Sichuan spicy hot pot (its REALLY spicy) soup bases. If you order the signature handmade noodles, you’ll be in for a tableside performance by the noodle master. Prices are above average, but the variety of ingredients and the undoubtedly great service will keep you coming back. Tip: come for supper, there's no queue and they're open till 3am!

Passed down from generation to generation, Nan Hwa Chong Fish Head Steamboat is still standing strong. Even after 80 odd years (it's been around since 1927!), it still draws crowds on the weekend. Plus, they still use charcoal for the steamboat. The broth is pleasantly sweet from the use of fresh fish. You can choose from promfet, song fish, snapper or grouper. For an extra kick of umami, they add fried sole, which also balances out the sweetness. If steamboat isn't enough, order zi char dishes like prawn rolls and jing du pork ribs to go along with your bowl of rice!

Conveniently located in the mega mall, NEX, Danro is a great place to tuck into a Japanese hot pot. Start with some beautiful, cold onsen eggs, and perhaps a side of soba while waiting for your meats to cook. Give their signature kiritanpo (Japanese grilled rice skewers) a try, either on its own or dipped into broth. Go for the popular chicken milk broth that's brewed for three days, and is Tastemaker Rachel Xie's pick here. There isn't a huge variety of steamboat ingredients available, but the quality of the meats certainly makes up for it, along with their addictive onsen eggs!

Hailed as one of the most popular restaurants in Thailand, MK Restaurant finally hit the shores of Singapore last year. They are most known for Thai-style suki hot pot, their signature MK sauce, and the MK roasted duck. If you aren't sure what to order, just go for the MK Suki Platter, which will give you a taste of all their bestsellers. Also try their jade noodles and crystal fish egg balls, which are filled with fish eggs that pop in your mouth. And because no Thai meal is complete without dessert, you'll get a helping of coconut milk ice cream! As this place gets crowded quickly, you're strongly encouraged to make reservations in advance!

Tsukada Nojo is constantly packed with people flocking here for the famed Bijin Nabe collagen hot pot ($25/pax, min 2 pax). This "Beauty Pot" contains vegetables, seafood, and chicken in a collagen-rich chicken soup. This incredibly flavorful soup is made from the high-quality Jidori chickens from Japan. Don't be alarmed by the bowl of silky white collagen pudding that arrives, simply watch it melt into the broth and impart its goodness. Expect fantastic service and a seriously tasty soup that you can't stop drinking. This meal will leave you feeling nourished and fully satisfied, just be prepared to put your name down for dinner early!
