Flat Iron Steak (250g - $18) The Flat Iron Steak on the other hand was a tad too tough for my liking but i was informed that the steak cut is from the shoulder hence the toughness. Nevertheless, it was still pretty well-seasoned and went well with the black pepper sauce. Each steak comes with 2 free sides of your choice.

🎶Nobody gonna love me better~ I must STEAK with you forever~🎶 The best STEAK we enjoyed here at MediumRare was their Flat Iron, which was reasonably priced at $18++ for 250g! 😍😍😍 . Featuring a thick juicy cut, this cut near the cow's shoulder was supposedly a tougher cut but it was suprisingly tender!! 💯 Despite the thick cut, the steak was well-executed & nicely marinated, achieving the perfect pink for a medium-rare finish! 💕 Drizzle on some mala sauce 🌶 for a little tingly spice which was on the sweet side, but complements the savoury steak 🥩 . Guess the key is to eat it while it's hot! 😉 Super worth the price as it comes with 2 free sides! ✔ The grilled asparagus 💚 was super crunchy & aromatic from the grill, while the creamy mashed potato 🥔 was decent too! 😋

Sardine Puff And Curry Puff Got this instead of the donuts because they weren’t available till afternoon. This is just a quick snack or to-go option but it’s not particularly delicious. The puffs weren’t warm, and the fillings weren’t that generous either. I preferred the sardine puff over the curry puff in this case as the taste of the filling was more prominent. If you’re not in a rush, just skip this and get the Kaya toast as they prepare it pretty quickly anyway.

Kaya Toast & Yuan Yang Finally got to try YY Kafei Dian and I was shocked by the long queue snaking out of the unit at 8.30am. This was actually the queue for the bee hoon and cooked food. There was also a queue for the Kaya toast and drinks but it moved much quicker. I can see why the Kaya toast here has a following. The thick fluffy buns are grilled so they achieve charred perfection on the outside while retaining incredible fluffiness. The Kaya also isn’t too sweet. The bun comes with a slab of butter in between, but it was unmelted so I scraped it off. The Kaya toast here is seriously addictive and I can see myself returning here for more of these or the donuts (which apparently only come out in the afternoon). I was a little disappointed with the yuan yang as was too milky for my liking. This overpowered the taste of tea and coffee, which is a shame because I’ve read other reviews saying the coffee is good.

Lemon Chicken Rice Lemon Chicken Rice ($6.50): Added a fried egg to go along with it. Just an average bowl of lemon chicken rice. Nothing really special. However, if you are here, you can try their claypot noodles with gravy.

Easily the most impressive donburi I’ve had of late I wasn’t 100% sure about trying this Wagyu Truffle Don ($34) cause of the steep price, and also cause I ain’t the biggest fan of truffle oil. But then I took a bite, and alright Izy Fook you got me convinced. There’s literally nothing bad I can say about this, nothing for me to pick on. First of all, they used nanatsuboshi Hokkaido rice in this and it was superbly cooked. Moist and just the right amount of sticky, if that makes any sense. Thin slices of wagyu were flavourful, tender, and juicy, with the perfect meat-to-meat ratio. Underneath that hides a slow-cooked egg with a beautiful runny yolk, and when you mix it all up that lends a wonderfully rich flavour to the whole rice bowl. But most importantly, the truffle oil wasn’t overly potent. Just enough to perfume the dish without overpowering everything — and that really sealed the deal for me.

Superior Prawn Mee Pok Noodles (SGD $19) @ Izy Fook. Think of this like a fusion of bak chor mee and Hokkien mee; with soft chewy mee pok egg noodles in a gravy of rich prawn stock, having bold sweet savoury salty flavour. . Garnished with tender minced pork, fresh bouncy deshelled tiger prawns, crisp sakura ebi / river shrimp, a wobbly soft onsen egg half, and crunchy fried shallots. . There's supposed to be lup cheong / dried Chinese pork sausage according to the menu, but we didn't have any in our serving. . Still, this was a delicious, filling bowl of noodles, pure comfort flavours. . . . Izy Fook More details in profile & blog

Cold Capellini Noodles (SGD $15) @ Izy Fook. This has to be eaten quickly, lest it gets clumpy. . The thin silky strands of capellini / angel hair pasta noodles are served chilled, in a creamy gravy blend of coconut cream, salted egg yolk, and truffle oil, giving this a bright floral earthy nutty sweet salty savoury flavour. . Paired with briny salty juicy globules of flying fish roe and crisp micro-greens, this was refreshing and appetizing. . So good. . . . Izy Fook More details in profile & blog

This Place Hits The Sweet Spot For Steak At A Good Value Price Point. H O S T E D Inspired by “The Flat Iron’ in London”, @TheFeatherBlade is an “alternative steakhouse” launched in Singapore earlier in May that is very shrewd about their offering and who they are targeting. Essentially they want to be top-of-mind when people think about where to go for #propersteaks at pocket-friendly prices. This explains their concise menu which is focused on a 200gm piece of steak priced very attractively at $21. Naturally at this price, the Australian beef is not a prime cut but the meat which comes from the shoulder area, is lean and flavourful. And because they pay close attention to how it is cooked, results in a decent level of juicy tenderness. The other way to enjoy the steak it is to order their off-the-menu Burger. Also priced at $21, the beef is minced and formed into a patty that is grilled, then placed between super-soft brioche buns and dressed in a truckload of house-made bearnaise sauce plus fried onions. I enjoyed this the most from all that I tried at the hosted lunch. As for the side dishes, there are four, priced at $7 each. They are a Caesar Salad (it has a whole crispy nacho chip-coated soft-yolk egg!), sautéed shimeji, shiitake and button mushrooms, hand-smashed potatoes deepfried in beef fat and spinach in parmigiano-reggiano cream with a pinch of nutmeg. If you like a sauce with your steak, there are four as well to pick from: Szechuan peppercorn (I liked this a lot), bearnaise, horseradish cream and red wine jus ($2). The newly-launched Gyudon is very good value for money at $14. Besides the 100gms of sliced steak, you also get very tastily-seasoned Japanese rice, an onsen egg, soft-cooked onions, garlic chips and pickles. And if you are a fan of foie gras or Hokkaido scallops, there is the option to add them on for another $11 per item. Only one dessert, an ice-cream sundae, is listed in the menu but it did a great job in satisfying. I found plenty of happiness in the Madagascan vanilla ice-cream with Valhorna dark hazelnut chocolate sauce, salted caramel and crunchy flakes of feuilletine biscuit ($8). The Feather Blade also offers special cuts and have garnered quite a following for their “Picanha Thursdays” and “USDA Prime Sando Tuesdays”. Do follow their Instagram account for updates. Thanks Sheen for hosting us for the lunch.

The Steaks Are High Finally. I made my way down to The Feather Blade. Shopback GO may or may not have a part to play in this..... There was 10% cashback boost til a couple of days ago, I knew I had to visit! That promotion's done with, but their usual 5% cashback is still pretty bomb. Queued for 15 mins slightly past 8PM on a weekday; got a seat at the bar counter for myself. Not too shabby. Wasn't asked how I'd like my steak ($21++), but it was done medium rare, which is how I'd like it to begin with. Very pleased with the steak as much as the side of Mushrooms ($7++) that I ordered. If you're looking for #propersteaks, this is the place to be. Yes, it reminds me of Flat Iron in London, but so what? Give me a delicious steak & you'll make me very happy. 🥩 💳 Accepts credit cards 🌬 Air-conditioned seats available ☀ Al fresco seats available 🍽 Shopback GO partner 💦 Water is not chargeable
