Braised Shredded Duck Meat Soup With Tofu (SGD $9.80 per person) @ Kai Duck. This is a novel modern Chinese Cantonese double-boiled soup / broth, that is warm, soulful, and comforting. . The thick gloopy soup / broth has delicate eggy sweet smoky savoury flavour, from the inclusion of chewy tender shredded duck meat, wispy eggs, silky tofu beancurd, crisp spinach, and crunchy spring onions. . A dash of black vinegar lends a contrast of sour notes in taste. . . . Kai Duck More details in profile & blog

Roasted Duck (SGD $28 Half) @ Kai Duck. Had this on a separate return visit. While this differs from the Beijing style Peking Duck, the roast duck here is as good as any other. . The use of Irish Silver Hill ducks result in the duck meat being tender, moist, and super succulent, with a light chew to texture, and a thick gelatinous layer of fat (which is easily removed if you choose). . Each bite gets you a burst of meaty salty savoury flavour, nicely satisfying. . Served with a thick gloopy sour plum sauce on the side, which has fruity sour sweet flavour. . . . [Crowne Plaza] - Pink Ruby Yule Log and Chocolate Banana Yule Log ($68 each). The Pink Ruby Yule Log is made with ruby chocolate, which is seemingly a new rose-hued gem in the chocolate scene ever since it was launched in 2017 by Swiss chocolate maker Barry Callebaut. Pretty in pink, the log cake is made with raspberry puree and pink ruby chocolate mousse filling, interlaced with layers of vanilla cream cake and white chocolate feuilletine. As for the latter, the classic combination of chocolate sponge cake, rich chocolate buttercream and caramelised banana will end every meal with a happy note.

Pink Steamed Scallop Dumpling with Sliced Almond from the brand-new concert of Crystal Jade Pavilion at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. The pastel pink delicate skin and plump Australian scallops wrapped within would already draw some “wow”s. Let’s just say they are very pretty, and taste just as worthy. One pop in the mouth and you could slowly savour the moist and juicy flavours of the dumplings. These are further crowned with fragrant toasted sliced almonds. The restaurant has quite an extensive menu, check out what it has here: bit.ly/crystaljadepavilion #DFDSP

A4 Kumamoto Wagyu Beef ($80/pax). Dashi Master Marusaya serves shabu shabu is good dashi stock using fresh ingredients imported from Japan, such as kombu from Hokkaido and bonito flakes freshly shaved from aged dried katsuobushi. 🔸 While the soup is great, the meats for the shabu shabu could be rather disappointing. The A4 wagyu from Kumamoto was tender but it's sweetness didn't evoke much excitement from me, and considerably pricey considering there weren't many slices of the wagyu for a $160 plate. 🔸 Which reminded me I very much preferred @tamashii_robataya for their shabu shabu, where they serve higher quality A5 Saga wagyu for around the same price, in shabu stock that are also very delicious.
