Chicken Chop with Prawn ($15++) Collin's currently having a promo for this dish at $15 instead of the stated usual price of $23.80. Saw in the menu that the regular chicken chop (just without the 1x prawn) costs $15 as well so welp got a prawn that apparently costs $8.80 for free I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️ Overall I enjoyed this dish, nothing outstanding but checks all the boxes. Sauce could be more flavourful though, tasted like watered down mushroom sauce. Also, I don't what they put in their Aglio olio but I was hooked on it 👍🏻

Collin's 3⭐ Dinner choice by WB again. I'm never fan's of Collin's as I always prefer Aston. WB ordered the signature grilled chicken chop which comes with spaghetti. I had the chicken and fish combo as I don't want to eat the spaghetti. I find the chicken too pepperish to my dislike. Bbq Pork Ribs Their new outlet at HillV2 actually serves food. Ordered their set lunch that came with a salad/soup/dessert + coffee/tea for $18+. However, the pork ribs weren't actually BBQed, it's probably just baked but topped with BBQ sauce. Quite a disappointing rendition I would say. If there are other options around, I wouldn't come back.

Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang They have expanded their business by opening a few outlets across the city. Famous for their grilled chicken leg marinated in traditional home-made Taliwang red chilli and chilli padi sauce. I find it interesting with the taste that’s more on the sweet side, probably because of the sauce. Paired with sunny side egg, anchovies, peanut, sambal and rice infused with fresh undiluted coconut cream.

My favourite nasi lemak place now! Back to Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang at Novena United Square food court for a second time! This time, I was determined to try the Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang ($6.90)! Arrived early slightly before the lunch hour crowd to order. However, the wait for the food was still quite long at almost 20 minutes! So if you wish to eat this, better head here early! Like the previous nasi lemak chicken wing set, the nasi lemak rice was served pipping hot and super fragrant! I was initially afraid that the Taliwang sauce will be too spicy (since it was 3 chilli spice level), but it turned out to be pretty mild to me . The chilli resembles the sambal chilli, that is citrusy and spicy! My favourite kind of chilli! Making a mental note to try to request for more chilli next time! As for the chicken leg, it was tender and soft, however I felt that the chicken leg portion was quite small? Like I felt that I had to ration the meat to eat with the rice, if not I would not have much meat to last for the whole meal! As for the ikan bilis and peanuts, the ikan bilis seemed to be OVERLY FRIED this time round. Super dark brown in colour and hard, hence I didnt eat more than 2 pieces of it!

Must try! Chanced upon Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang at Novena United Square food court accidentally. Saw the iconic chicken logo and michelin guide stamp and knew i had to try it. Decided to get the chicken wing set ($5.50) before i realised this was the famous nasi lemak ayam taliwang i wanted to try at yishun hawker after seeing it on zermatt’s youtube video! But argh too late, order already put through! Making a mental note to try the $6.90 set the next time (refer to last photo for the best signature items)! But nevertheless, this basic chicken wing nasi lemak set was still 100/100! YES, it was so freaking good i daresay it is my top favourite nasi lemak in Singapore now! What i like about the food is that they were all served hot! Chicken wing and begedil were all hot! But it could also be because i arrived early at early lunch timing! The fried chicken wing was crispy and so juicy and very well seasoned! Dirtying 8 fingers to eat this was all worth the effort! I also love the sunny side up egg with the oozy egg yolk! Never a fan of overcooked eggs that other nasi lemak stalls sell! The peanuts and ikan bilis were also super crispy! And as for the basic ingredients to evaluate whether a nasi lemak is good - the rice and sambal chilli sauce was on point! The rice was fluffy and fragrant, and the looks of it kinda reminds me of chicken rice, but it tastes just like nasi lemak! Scrapped clean my plate of nasi lemak. This is a plate of nasi lemak that is worth eating! 👏With the food dynasty card, you get an additional 10% discount so it only costs $4.95!

Superb Food Quality With Huge Selection Of Drinks! Honestly wasn't expecting much from a bar, but the food quality here is really superb. The Mixed Meat Platter ($58) can definitely feed 4, and it boasts really good meats such as their tender succulent striploin and their smoky chicken tikka. The lamb chops within is really the highlight, because its so darn tender and meaty, all with little to no gamey taste. The Salt and Pepper Squid ($16) is really addictive, with such a wonderfully crispy flavourful batter. Their Truffle Fries with Truffle Mayo ($14) is also very moreish. Their Spicy Shrimp with Garlic and Chilli Olive Oil ($14) is fresh, juicy and definitely satisfying when you dip the bread in the olive oil! Totally recommended if you want to have a good meal with drinks!

Char Grilled Beef Skirt Steak [$25] Grilled beef skirt, fried potatoes, chimichurri sauce. Never imagined the potatoes to steal the limelight! No idea what that sauce on the potatoes were, but it tasted fiery, creamy and intense. Beef was a little underdone. :/

Marinated Beef Tenderloin Slices [$14] Slightly on the salty side, medium rare was done on point with chimichurri sauce. Good for sharing!

Good tiramisu Tiramisu @ $13++ It's good, but we have had much better. The rum wasn't soaked through in the middle so the taste could have been better. Base sauce was mango and raspberry which didn't really go well with tiramisu.

Good pasta Crab meat linguine @ $28++ We have craving for pizza and decided to come this place which has been on our wishlist for quite a while. Decided to have 1 pizza and 1 pasta and we landed with this, which is good but we think the pizza was really great and we'll probably try more pizzas next time. Went for lunch at 2ish and they said there's 1 for 1 for any of their pizza, pasta and mains. Think we saw the promotion say mon - sat 1 for 1 lunch promotion from 11.30am to 2.30pm, which is really great and a very pleasant surprise for us.

Awesome pizza Prosciutto pizza @ $25.50++ Really great pizza! We absolutely love it! The pizza has breadlike base, but they managed to keep it thin with very great texture and the right amount of sauce such that it's not soggy and the base crust is crispy! Gyu Kaku new buffet We recently tried Gyu-Kaku’s new buffet menu, currently available at a promotional price of $48.80 until November 14. For a popular BBQ spot like this, the price offers good variety and is quite a value compared to their usual menu options. Some highlights were the two flavors of Gyutan (beef tongue), Karubi, and Rosu – excellent picks for those who enjoy a wide selection. As a regular at Gyu-Kaku, having tried all their menus, I did notice a difference in quality with the new buffet menu. The meat texture was a bit chewier than usual, and the flavor didn’t have the same rich, beefy depth as before. Still, it’s worth a try for the price, especially for anyone looking to enjoy a BBQ meal without overspending. A good choice for variety and value.

Japanese Wagyu Buffet ($86.80++) Came here to celebrate my father’s birthday and omg was honestly blown away by the quality of the beef. Our favourites were the Japanese Wagyu Premium Loin Long Cut and Karubi. Felt that these 2 were the least tough and the juiciest. Some parts had a lot of tendon and really hard to chew despite the A4 grading. The charcoal was extremely hot and placed under the oily Japanese Wagyu, the fire was pretty scary! One small complain that I have would be that some pieces of beef that came were not as well marbled as the rest, but the majority were amazing. I also really liked the sides, especially the Nama-Su (for the sour crunch), Shio Cucumber (refreshing crunch) and assorted Namuru. The Ponzu sauce and Garlic Chilli Oil dip was delicious as well, but my favourite would be the Chilli Paste that came with the Vegetable Wrap Set! Overall, would definitely come back for celebrations as it was a bit too sinful to feast like this regularly. The service was very prompt as well. Paid $310 for 3pax for the Japanese Wagyu Buffet + free flow green tea and would say it was worth it although pricey! Definitely give it a try if you are a beef lover ❤️

Decent food Ordered the fish taco, chicken nuggets and portobello mushroom burger. Food was decent (highly recommend the fish taco) however they do not serve ketchup or chili sauce with the food (server mentioned that they only serve ketchup for kids). Drinks was decent.

Latino Chicken Bites ($8) Popcorn chicken brined in an apple & agave marinade, served with a spicy sweet & sour sauce. Great crunch on the batter and the chicken, while delicious on its own, really shone with the sweet & sour sauce which was reminscent of the Chinese version.

For Free Flow Premium Black Angus Beef Supreme Black Angus Beef Shabu Shabu Buffet ($32.90) The Supreme Black Angus beef shabu shabu buffet runs for only $32.90++. That’s mad decent value, especially considering that the beef served ain’t no bargain bin bovine, nossir. It’s acceptably marbled with fat, and the Black Angus beef is free flow for 70 minutes, backed up by thin slices of pork belly & collar, and chicken. Yes, cow, chicken and pig are all free flow. Awesome A5 wagyu Had the $77.90++ buffet for dinner and chose the Chicken Ginger soup and Tomato soup. While the soup base is not outstanding, the wagyu was superb. Just look at the marbling. Totally worth it if you are a big eater. If you choose the $67.90++ option, it’s still A5 wagyu but it’s a different part of the beef. The meats will have a thick line of fat on each slice and the marbling wont be as good as this.

But what if I told you that there’s a Japanese hotpot buffet there that won’t break the bank?⠀ ⠀ Gyu Jin Shabu Shabu has a Supreme Black Angus beef shabu shabu buffet that runs for only $32.90++. That’s mad decent value, especially considering that the beef served ain’t no bargain bin bovine, nossir. Perfect for ensuring that you last all twelve rounds with the meat, as the yuzu will slap your tastebuds awake after a protein induced haze.⠀ ⠀ I can’t stress this enough, but I really, really, love my pot hot & smoking. Yes, I’m a pothead. Better yet, it’s rainy szn in Singapore now, so that’s essentially nature’s way of telling you to patronise the (hot)pot dealers in town. Go my child, go forth and 🅱️laze it.⠀

Claypot Crab Vermicelli Soup Haven't been to Mellben in a really long time and I miss having Mellben’s crab done in its signature way. The milky broth is thick, rich, creamy and beamed with sweetness from the crab. The crab was fresh and succulently sweet with chunks of meat coming off cleanly.

Shrimp Roll Wrapped in crispy beancurd skin with generous fillings of prawns, pork and together with a crunch of chestnuts 》$10 (Small)

Favourite Chilli Crab Mellben will always be be go-to restaurant for crab. Hands down my favourite. Crab here are always fresh, meaty and the sauce is great. Female crabs are full of roe, but the claws are smaller. Male crabs have bigger and meatier claws. 5% Discount if pay by cash. Please make reservations before coming. Unless u want to queue and wait.

Amazing Zichar worthy of its popularity Bustling atmosphere at a very quiet industrial area with mostly tourists, but as a local I can say that the food here is really top tier. They do the classic zichar dishes, but the taste is really better than what you can find in your usual neighbourhood cofeeshops. These were what we got: - Fried meesua ($8.80 for small). Portion is unexpectedly big and really filling, enough for 2 pax to share. They also don't skimp on the ingredients, and taste was good too. - Fuyong Egg ($10.80 for small). Basically fried egg with sliced veges within (e.g., onions, cabbages, carrots). Pretty standard but was delicious too. - Sliced fish soup ($10.80 for small). SO SO GOOD! Their fish soup leans towards the milky side with a strong huadiao wine flavour - damn slurpable! Fresh fish slices too but the star is really the soup. MUST TRY! - Cereal prawns ($27.80 for small). 7 pieces of large prawns submerged in cereal bits. Prawns were fresh and had a nice bounce, and the cereal bits lent a nice, sweet crunch to every bite. But felt it was too dry after a few bites and nothing really special about it. Can skip. - Three egg spinach ($15.80 for small). Their rendition of the classic chinese dish was surprisingly delicious, with the gravy leaning towards the stickier side. This was excellent. Recommended. Service was quick and friendly, and some of the staff are able to speak in English to cater to tourists. However, a turn-off was the multitude of birds roaming around the outdoor area, as the disposal bins were placed right beside the tables. Perhaps the location of these bins could be looked into, so that diners would not be so bothered by those pests. Otherwise, great food and still at a largely-affordable price, perfect for gatherings! Note: Don't forget to make a reservation in advance! We just strolled right to our tables. Don't just walk-in during peak dinner period, you'll have a higher likelihood of being told to wait for 30min or more.

Deshelled chilli crab Take away to be consumed in office. Deshelled chilli crab is delicious , and not messy. The pork is flavourful but a bit tough.

Moonlight Char Kway Teow KEK is a well-known zhi char place here at Alexandra. Getting parking lots here will always be a challenge here during meal times. Gets very packed in the restaurant as well, so make your reservations before coming down. 1) Signature Moonlight Hor Fun - one of their signature dish, strong wok hei with thick and sticky texture due to the 2 raw eggs. A must have here 2) Sharing Platter - Golden Pearl Roll - Prawn roll - Yam Basket - You tiao with Seafood Paste - a great platter for sharing, especially to try their signature Golden Pearl Roll & Prawn Roll. - all crispy and tasted good. Must order item. 3) Crab Bee Hoon Soup - Not their signature dish, but soup was flavourful and crab was fresh. 4) Claypot Liver - a must have dish here. The best dish today, sauce was damn good and liver was not overcooked whatsoever. Just right. 5) Coffee Pork Ribs - very distinct coffee taste. Pork Ribs were tender and the first plate to be cleared today. 6) Salted Egg Sotong - lots of good reviews on this and rightly so, most value for money, as the sotong pieces seem to be endless. Each small piece is well coated with salted Egg. 7) Sambal Kangkong - every zhi char dinner must have this, and the Sambal Kangkong here definitely meets my high standard. 8) Spinach with 3 kinds egg - quite ok. Nothing really fantastic, but not the worst I ever had.
