Poached Egg With Spring Onion Hitsumabushi (Large) $41.40+ First time at the much-raved Man Man! Ordered the most expensive food item on the menu for lunch. Comes with poached egg, broth, Japanese rice, pickles, spices, miso soup, nori, and of course the main star of the dish - unagi! I love that Man Man has 2 types of unagi sauce at the side of each table. Usually unagi sets come with rather stingy amounts of sauce but this is self-serve sauce in spicy and non-spicy can be added at your own preference. It was so good and so filling. Didn’t have dinner after.

Large Hitsumabushi ($39.40++) A bed of rice topped with Japanese unagi, served with a small teapot of dashi broth, a small plate of pickles, and a plate of condiments containing strips of seaweed, chopped spring onion and a piece of fresh wasabi to be grated on your own. Quality of the unagi is on point! Grilled to perfection, tender and flavourful, with a nice crisp to it. The dashi stock was lighter than I expected it to be but it does give a warm comforting touch to eat it as a tea rice soup (ochazuke). We are not wasabi fans but we still grated a bit to try since we paid for it already. Surprisingly, the fresh wasabi had the wasabi fragrance but not the pungent burning sensation that we disliked. Pretty interesting experience to us! There are also additional sauces (sweet sauce, unagi sauce, spicy sauce) available on the table but I think it is delicious on its own. Recommended? It is a definite yes from me if you are looking for good quality unagi and willing to pay as the prices here are pretty steep. However, if you are looking for a place to chill and chat around with your friends and family, this might not be the best option as the service here is quite efficient in order to serve the hungry customers waiting under the hot sun.

Signature Roast Chicken Signature Roast Chicken ($15.90) . Fan base of @lecoqsg has been growing steadily recently with so many wishlisting this place on burpple. Dining here has never been more worth it than after #burpplebeyond came about. So we got 2 regular mains for the price of 1 and ended up paying only about $10/pax for their signature roasted chicken platter and spicy salmon don. The roasted chicken is largely similar in taste to those found at good chicken rice stalls but what makes this plate amazing to me is the quinoa. Not a fan of qinoa but the way it had been prepared here surprised me. Utterly delicious and complimented the roasted chicken as well as the usual oily chicken rice did. This main also came with a shoyu egg with a runny centre and a bowl of collagen chicken soup. There’s also chicken rice option available for substitute if quinoa isn’t your thing.

Signature Roast Chicken [$14.90] Signature roast chicken leg, quinoa, collagen broth, cucumber apple salad, shoyu egg. Was so impressed by the presentation, and boy, it certainly is a generous portion. Impressed with how flavorful the quinoa tasted, having been cooked and seasoned with ginger and spices, like what you’d expect or chicken rice. And the chicken was really tender and juicy, even better with the condiments that came along to take it to the next level. Super satisfying meal and best part is the too good to be true 1-1 deal you get to enjoy with Burpple beyond! Will definitely be back again to try the other items from the promising menu!

Ham Special ($4.90 Ala Carte / $6.90 Set) ⁣I fell in love with Isaac Toast when I tried it in Korea so I was really happy that Isaac Toast opened in SG but this was so disappointing as compared to the ones we had in Korea. Isaac Toast in Korea has the perfect proportion of ingredients and sauces with sliced cabbage and pickles to cut the grease and give it a refreshing touch. However, the ones we bought here were overly buttered and greasy (Literally dripping butter!). It lacked the balance of flavours and eating it reminded me nothing like the ones we had in Korea. I can only say that it is a very ordinary toast sandwich in my opinion.

Free Isaac toast on 20 and 21 July 12-1pm and 6-7pm at the two outlets in Singapore! We happened to arrive at 5.40pm, but did not notice a queue already forming behind the pillar. It was only at 5.48pm when we saw more and more ppl joining the queue did we realised and decided it was time to join! (And the queue got quite snakingly long aft a few seconds!) 😅 So we were about the 25th customer! They only start preparing and distributing the toasts at almost 6pm. Each round of bread prepping session yields 8 sets! It will be a standard set with cheese, ham and egg (yay to no veg hehe)! We thought the bread was unusually sweet, w all the butter and sugar! But it made a filling meal! 😊 This is my second time eating Isaac toast, first was in JB paradigm mall! #burpple #isaactoast #isaactoastsg
