Burgers & Neon Lighting So we arrived at the shop at around 10.30am and they were...... CLOSED or so the sign hanging on the door showed. Just a small error on their part. Anyway I ordered the Messy Truffle Burger ($16)- beef, truffle sauce, cheese, fries. Beef was cooked slightly under and the truffle sauce tasted quite prominent on it own. However, when eaten together, the truffle taste was negligible. A friend of mine said it tasted like Mcdonald's cheese burger. A slightly better version of it. Pulled Pork Burger ($10)- relish mayo, onions, smoked cheddar, fries. Had a prominent porky taste in a good way. Burger tasted good when eaten together. Separately the pork lacked seasoning, same with my beef patty. Truffle Pasta ($14)- shimeji, shiitake, truffle cream, pecorino. Taste of truffle was present but not strong and somehow the sauce kinda lack salt in our opinion. Pasta was well cook though. Overall a nice place to hang out during the hot sunny weather as it is air conditioned. There's also free flavoured water available which you can help yourself.

Crab & Prawn ($14) There’s a certain home-style feel to their food, like it’s cooked by your friend’s mum that avoids too much salt. 😂 This was cooked a little too soft too but they were quite generous with the shredded crab and prawns.

Salted Chocolate Ganache And Almond Brittle, Pistachio And Pecan Ice Cream (Single scoop, Lavender Cone, $7) With the one for one promotion at Saveur’s new concept Bread and Butterfly, you can get delicious ice creams really cheap in Orchard. A regularly priced scoop goes for $5, double scoop at $8, premium flavours cost an additional $1, and the lavender cone (think Birds of Paradise but Lavender instead of Thyme), costs an additional $1 as well. You can try as many flavours as you want, and they’ve got some really interesting stuff like white chocolate miso, coconut avocado, blue vanilla and Black Sea Salt, and more. We got the single scoop cones of the salted chocolate ganache and pistachio pecan (premium). Waiting time was a little long (~15 mins) for the cone but we were warned right before we picked our flavours. The salted chocolate ganache was interesting, with a slight saltiness and crunchy almond brittle. I do wish the chocolate flavour was more prominent though, as it tasted more like salted caramel and caramelised almond brittle. The pistachio taste did come through, and the caramelised pecans were a nice contrasting texture with a very very subtle nutty bitterness to round off the ice cream. While both flavours were nice, I always have a soft spot for pistachio, and with pecans thrown in?! Come on. It’s a shoo in for my favourite flavour. Texture of the ice cream is on point, but it melts quite fast. I actually prefer this lavender cone over BoP thyme cones as the aroma isn’t so overpowering but still fragrant and calming. As a note, be careful with the paper casing as it doesn’t fit the cone that well and tends to drop off, or your cone might also pop out of the case! I will definitely try to make a return visit before the 1 for 1 promo is over!

Single Scoop ($5) + Cone ($1) Bread and butterfly reminded me very much of BOP, but boasting Lavender instead of Thyme-infused waffle cones made freshly upon order. I adored the crispness of the cone, whose floral fragrance was detectable, though not as strong as I had expected it to be. Had mine with a scoop of Salted Choc Ganache with Almond Brittle, which kind of reminded me of salted caramel, carrying a great sweet-salty balance. Loved how the almond brittle added a hint of nuttiness and crunch to the ice cream too😋🥰 . Scoops and cones are rather huge, i think its quite worth the $$!

Surprisingly Good English-inspired Cafe! Had a go on the classic Dory fish and chips ($9.90), very affordable! The dory fish was fried really nicely but still kept its flakiness and moisture. What looks like mashed potato was actually a thicker tangy mayo for your fish! If you’re feeling hungry, you can add $3.90 for another piece of dory. Wooooooorth. Ambience was really nice with a lot of for foreigners walking along Haji Lane for the added overseas feeling! Would definitely return and try other dish with Burpple Beyond!

Ridiculous Service and terrible order system We walked in at 1pm into a half-empty restaurant and was told to wait 40 minutes for the food. We were fine with it as it was a Sunday at lunch hour. The system used to order food is through scanning a QR code on the phone, and ordering on the app although there were 3 staff walking around the small store. Super troublesome, but nevermind. Waited 1 hour before we were told that our food order did not go through the system even though we ordered a latte and received it 20 minutes later and it was sent through properly. Requested nicely for the staff to have our order bumped up and be verbally conveyed to the kitchen. No, it has to go through the app and we will have to wait an additional 30 minutes for the order. Don’t come here unless you want to waste your time over mediocre food and terrible service. Burrple isn’t even worth it.

Flavourful Fishy Delight Got the Tandoori Fish, Aglio Olio and Butterbeer(non-alcoholic). Aglio Olio (with added shrimp and eggs are a must for extra few $) and butter beer were good! We still can’t figure out what is the taste of the butter beer but it reminds us of A&W Root Beer Floats. Aglio Olio had a good fragrant garlic taste with pieces of garlic topping it. The Tandoori Baked fish was really flavourful as well, but do eat it after you try the Aglio Olio as it will overpower it! Nice and tasty meal. Spent around ~$24+ with burpple but without would be ~$40+

[Crowne Plaza] - Pink Ruby Yule Log and Chocolate Banana Yule Log ($68 each). The Pink Ruby Yule Log is made with ruby chocolate, which is seemingly a new rose-hued gem in the chocolate scene ever since it was launched in 2017 by Swiss chocolate maker Barry Callebaut. Pretty in pink, the log cake is made with raspberry puree and pink ruby chocolate mousse filling, interlaced with layers of vanilla cream cake and white chocolate feuilletine. As for the latter, the classic combination of chocolate sponge cake, rich chocolate buttercream and caramelised banana will end every meal with a happy note.

Pink Steamed Scallop Dumpling with Sliced Almond from the brand-new concert of Crystal Jade Pavilion at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport. The pastel pink delicate skin and plump Australian scallops wrapped within would already draw some “wow”s. Let’s just say they are very pretty, and taste just as worthy. One pop in the mouth and you could slowly savour the moist and juicy flavours of the dumplings. These are further crowned with fragrant toasted sliced almonds. The restaurant has quite an extensive menu, check out what it has here: bit.ly/crystaljadepavilion #DFDSP

Limited Wagyu Beef Bowl Ramen The wagyu beef looked so good on the menu that I knew I just had to try it. Looking at the marbling of those beef slices, I knew I was in for a treat. Being a seasoned foodie, I was more than right when the beef tasted more like a soft piece of sashimi that literally melts in your mouth. The soup base however was a tad salty.

Extraordinary Fried Chips I am not a big fan of fries/chips/wedges because it all taste pretty much the same to me. I reluctantly tried this and I realised that they can be rather delicious when done well. The potato skin was fried till golden brown and you can actually taste the crisp. What finds you there after is soft mushy potato which enhances the entire experience! Not to be missed out!

Kani And Scallop Fried Rice That Is Too Good To Be True There was lots of hype about this place over the course of the past few weeks and being a Japanese food lover; I just had to check it out. The first thing that caught my eyes were the prices, they look too unbelievably affordable to be true. I ordered this because I wanted a change from the usual ramen and boy was it the best decision. Kiwami is extremely generous with the portion of prawns and scallops which were well cooked because it usually becomes too dry or overcook when placed in fried rice. The rice too was well complemented by the ikura and egg. Honesty, I can't think of a reason why someone wouldn't give this place a try. You can probably find me coming back here for lunch very frequently!
