Personally I am amazed with their mee pok (a type of flat and yellow noodle) and one may wonder why their mee pok? The answer to this question is the width and ingredients used for the noodle. One key ingredient to highlight is the usage of Japanese flour without alkaline water and the customisation of the width to specification of 5.3mm which is why we noticed the al dente texture immediately after the first chew of it.

We suggest that one should go for their signature mee pok (招牌面薄). The mee pok would be accompanied with a bowl of luscious broth which consist of generous ingredients such as scallop, clams, minced meat, prawn paste, pork liver, dumpling and fried fish stripe.

After savouring their signature mee pok, we truly recognise that Ho Say Mee Pok has strives to prepare it’s dishes with perfection and yet with an eye for details.

Keong Siak Road was once a red light district in Singapore but now the it has transformed into one of coolest area peppered with trendy cafes, bars and bistros with mixture of local eats. One good find in the area would be Kok Sen restaurant which has been serving patrons for more 3 decades and the our favourite dish would be the big prawn hor fun, $18 for small portion which is good enough for 2 persons. The hor fun exuded a strong wok hei taste and the thick luscious gooey gravy with tinge of spiciness is lip smacking good. Beside that, the big prawns were extremely fresh and easy de-shell. Anyway don’t be intimidated by the price as its probably worth it😋

Nasi Lemak is always one of my top favourite dish and constantly in search for one that is delectable. Aliff Nasi Lemak from Serangoon Garden Market is one that could definitely satisfy me as the nasi lemak gave a homely cooked feel. The highlight would be the basmati rice which is fragrant and fluffy that kinda stay true to their tagline of ‘Basmati Rice Aged to Perfection’ which they boldly claimed on their signboard.

Go Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice a Michelin’s Bib Gourmand recipient from Thailand is in town and they have opened their first overseas outlet in Singapore at NEX, Serangoon. One must be wondering why enter into the fray where Singapore has plenty of delectable Hainanese chicken rice available. Well surely there must be a distinct difference between the Thai and local style. Personally, I felt that Go Ang’s chicken resembles the kampung style type but it lacks the gelatine layer in between the meat and skin and the rice is less oily. Beside that the chili is evidently different too. Nonetheless I appreciates the different style of Hainanese chicken rice which they offer. TGIF folks✌🏻

I am back for MAW!!! The last time I had the dry bak chor mee from Seng Kee Mushroom Minced Meat Noodle and this time round, the soup version is on the radar. The inclusion of the fish maw, braised mushroom and fried dried sole fish greatly contributed to the umami taste. An awesome bowl of fish maw noodle soup(肉脞鱼鳔面汤)that blew me away😋

Braving the queue for touristy chicken rice at Maxwell Food Centre which I wouldn’t mind since it’s still one of the better chicken rice around in Singapore that serves fragrant rice with succulent chicken meat😋

Most of the fish dumplings (her giao) I had are either tad too dry or small to my liking which contributed to my disappointment. I guess my disappointment had officially ceased ever since I had Song Kee fishball Noodles’ her giao😬 The her giao from them are plump with savoury filling and most importantly the texture is super slimy which attributes to the uniqueness of the dumpling😋

Rainy day set me in seeking for comfort food and apparently Han Jiang Fish Soup at Teck Ghee Square came to my mind. I’ve ordered the largest portion of slice fish (assumingly batang) soup at $8.00 to make my 40 minutes wait worth it😆 One may wonder if it’s worth the wait and my verdict is a unquestionably; Yes! They are generous with the portion of the fresh sliced fish and one of the highlight would be the thickness of the fillet which is beyond expectation😋
