Grilled Hamachi Collar Now that is what I call a glorious grilled fish. This fish was from one of their specials air-flown from Japan, perfectly grilled with just a hint of salt. It was served alongside a squeeze of lemon and grated daikon. Hamachi or yellowtail is one of my favorite fishes because of its rich, smooth, buttery taste. And the collar and cheek is easily the best part of the fish. It was tender, moist and juicy. The fish meat slipped down my throat easily and I could taste that it was indeed very fresh, with no muddy taste. Every mouthful dripped with the sweet ambrosia of the fish juices. Definitely didn't expect such good quality seafood parked in the middle of an underground supermarket, away from the hustle and bustle of Holland Village. 9/10

Grilled saba Fish We used to be a big fan of Sushi Tei in Jakarta but we got disappointed a few times when we went to the ones in Singapore. So we went to find some other good Japanese restaurants in Singapore, one of them is SENS. . We always opt for Salmon Sashimi for starter, and theirs is always fresh (to proof our point, one of us is allergic to seafood that is not fresh but never occur when we eat here). If you want something simple, try their Saba Shoyu Yaki. Simple grilled Saba fish seasoned with soy sauce, it is fresh and light. Pair it with their Niniku Chahan (garlic fried rice)!

Katsu-Ni There are two types of french fries eater. One who likes it soggy and one who likes it crispy. This dish is dedicated to all of you who prefer soggy over crispy fries. . Katsu-Ni is basically pork or chicken katsu cutlet served with egg and shoyu stock in a hotpot. As it is drenched in the stock, it won’t be as crispy as the usual katsu cutlet. What’s special is that the stock doesn’t make the katsu too wet or soggy because the batter in not that thin. It is just the right amount of softness, making it a nice comfort food

Mussels & Fries (500g $36) There’s mussels in their name so of course we had to order it. Sadly this turned out to be our least favourite dish because SOME (not all but still) of the mussels had a strange taste to it which we thought tasted like they were not the freshest of the lot - of which we were guaranteed that they’re fresh and it’s just the taste of the wine(????). So that was that. Additionally, the mussels weren’t as plump as I’d have liked but I understand it’s just a different type from what we are used to. Fries were nicely crisp and addictive, so we also ordered truffle fries. Which came without any whiff or taste of truffle. We sent it back and thankfully it came back with obvious drizzles of truffle oil. Perhaps a little inattentive? Well don’t let our experience mar any potential visits with them because other food was pretty good. And I’ve seen several good reviews of other sauces with 7 for you to choose from! So maybe skip the Marinières (white wine, butter, parsley, onion - a classic!) we got and try what was recommended by others. Oh and they’re on Burpple Beyond with one-for-one on these mussels. Wouldn’t mind heading back to try again with this deal as it could just be an one-off thing.

Breakfast Burrito The burrito was also pretty good, but paled in comparison to the sanga. Perhaps because the nature of a burrito means that everything is kind of mushed together, and you can’t really taste each ingredient distinctly. Despite that, I have to say that both dishes was very flavourful and well seasoned. Really delicious! We only paid $8.24 per pax after Burpple Beyond! The brunch menu is available 9.30am-3.30pm on Saturday, but the promo only applies till 11am. Sadly, they didn’t allow takeaways with the Burpple promotion. Thankfully, the place was empty, so we didn’t have to dine in fear. I‘ll definitely be back for another cheat day breakfast 🤪 #nicnomzagain

Chicken And Egg Sanga ($14) Have been wanting to try Chico Loco’s breakfast since mid last year, after I had some of their amazing buttermilk chicken burger. We got the chicken and egg sanga and the breakfast burrito. I loved the chicken and egg sanga which came with a generous amount of chicken chorizo and a sinful amount of carbs (hash brown AND brioche). We only paid $8.24 per pax after Burpple Beyond! Mexican Spit-roasted Chicken🐔 that’s Organic-fed, Hormone-free & Free-range Conveniently located along Amoy Street, @chicolocosg is a fast-casual Mexican rotisserie and bar that offers lunch combo deals for the CBD peeps, as well as a great spot to chill out after work. Thanks to Burpple Beyond, we managed to enjoy 1-for-1 dinner sets (Main & Side & Drink) at about $11++ per pax. 。 👉Quarter Chicken - SGD9 👉Sauces - SGD2 each chimichurri yoghurt, pico de gallo verde, hot spicy cheese sauce, chipotle mayo 👉Fries - SGD5 👉Guacamole - SGD5 👉ChicoSlaw - SGD6 👉Sparkling Fruit Agua Frescas - SGD5 green apple & prickly pear, passionfruit & mango 。 All in all, the sides and sauces were great but if you can only choose 2 of each, go for their fries, guacamole, chimichurri yoghurt and hot spicy cheese sauce👍. As for their signature spit-roasted chicken, I wasn’t too happy with the fact that they were served cold at room-temperature. You might also want to avoid ordering their sparkling fruit agua frescas as they were surprisingly diluted. Perhaps, we were just unlucky that day🙃. 。 P.S. A Class Of Its Own Wanton mee is an ubiquitous dish that I'd loved since I was a kid. As an adult, I can't say I've had many bowls that sparked the same joy. - However this #michelin affirmed 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗲 ($6) was in a class of its own. The noodles were flawless — fragrant egginess underscored by a delicate thinness and impeccably crunchy bite. The only flaw was that I couldn't bear to have it covered by the flavourful sauce, but the whole profile was gorgeously elevated when the pork lard and their prawn-paste-loaded chili was mixed in. - Their char siew was also a pleasant surprise, one of the rare stalls with good char siew — almost comparable to Fung Kee, a roast meats specialist whose noodles are perhaps not as good. It's the fattier cut which I don't prefer, but it was satisfying nonetheless. The dumplings were also generous in filling, whilst wrapped with finesse. ----- [𝙏𝙤𝙖 𝙋𝙖𝙮𝙤𝙝] 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙛 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙜'𝙨 𝙉𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙡𝙚 𝙃𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙚 📍 𝟭𝟭 𝗟𝗼𝗿 𝟯 𝗧𝗼𝗮 𝗣𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗵, 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗔 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗲, 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝟯𝟭𝟵𝟱𝟳𝟵 ⏱️ (Tues-Fri) 8am-4pm, (Sat-Sun) 8am-2pm; 𝒄𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒐𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒔
