Beer Hoegaarden Wheat (SGD $12) @ Black Fairy Coffee. This is a well-known Belgian witbier, brewed by the Hoegaarden Brewery in the Hoegaarden municipality within the province of Flemish Brabant, in the Flanders region of Belgium. . It has a hazy, pale yellow colour, with aromas of spices that went into making it, such as coriander and orange peel. . The body is light and crisp, with a high carbonation, tastes of wheat, orange zest, banana, and pepper. . Very refreshing and drinkable, sweet with low bitterness, and a short finish. . . . BFC Shredded Pork Benny (SGD $20) @ Black Fairy Coffee. This is pretty good. Served with a side of fresh crunchy mesclun salad (wild rocket leaves / arugula, spinach, chard), whose vegetal bitter earthy sweet flavours are complemented by the rich nutty peanut sauce. . The brioche bread muffins are soft and spongy in texture, with a bready sweet flavour. . A generous portion of shredded pork in rich gravy sits over it, with delicious sweet savoury flavour, although the texture of the pork wasn't as tender as I'd like, being more stringy chewy instead. . Topped with perfectly poached eggs with home made hollandaise sauce. Cut into the runny egg yolk, and watch it ooze all over the pork and muffins, blending with the gravy beautifully. . Each mouthful is a delight. . . . Black Fairy Coffee More details in profile & blog

Soy Chicken Bites (SGD $13.90) @ Black Fairy Coffee. These are the best thing I've eaten here. The large, boneless chicken chunks are fried Korean style, with a thin, crispy crunch to the skin, yet the chicken remains tender and juicy. . Generously marinated in a rich sticky thick soy sauce glaze, lending robust salty sweet savoury flavour. . An excellent bar snack for sharing. . . . Black Fairy Coffee More details in profile & blog

Whole White Chicken This place is still the best hands down. To be honest, I don鈥檛 patronize this place for their chicken, but for the black and pepper soup that they serve as part of additional service. If you order more than half a chicken, they鈥檒l give you both types of soups and they are really good. The meat in the soups are substantial and really well cooked. The broth is flavorful and very comforting. The chicken and rice itself is above the average of what you鈥檒l find in singapore. And the standards are consistent EVERYTIME I come, which is rare for such a popular establishment.

We got here before 5.30pm today before the queue quickly grew thereafter. Although just chicken rice, meal here was such a complete one with free soup and achar. The chicken was good, although we won鈥檛 say it was the best we had. Steamed chicken was definitely the better than the roasted one. The roasted pork was pretty good too, chunky with the crispy skin. The crunchy fried garlic on their meat was definitely a good move, adding fragrance and the extra bite. Although some would like their yellowish rice which was non-oily, we actually kinda missed an oilier but more fragrant rice. While the prices here might not be that economical, the free soup and achar kinda mitigated that to complete the meal. For fans of achar, their free-flow supply would be a great joy. And the soup was such a gem. Free but it came with pork ribs and the peppery soup was delicious like the pig stomach soup. Lastly, we enjoy all their condiments and the chilli that packed a kick. With so many plus points, it was no doubt this was such a popular choice.

Chicken Rice Set ($5/pax) Easily my favourite chicken rice in SG - for several good reasons. First, the free flow achar. It鈥檚 slightly lighter compared to ones I frequent, but it鈥檚 just a light touch of tang to cut through the flavors of the chicken rice. It was a refreshing treat and also a chance to reset my taste buds to retaste the chicken rice and be awed by it all over it like I first tried it. Second, the soup. I would willingly just come here for the soup. I think mine was peppery chicken soup. It was intensely flavourful with chicken goodness, and YES with chunks of chicken and cabbage as well. It was really a true-blue boiled soup and definitely NOT those msg-packed soup that gets you thirsty. THIRD, the chicken, oh boy they were really succulent. The skin was gelatin-like and super satisfying. The meat was tender and soaked with the sauce. And the sauce!!! It鈥檚 just so addictive and tasty and yet not too salty at the same time. Love me some drizzle of the sauce w the ginger and chilli and dark sauce on my rice. And also, the chicken is drizzled with mini garlic bits which introduces an extra crunch and fragrance to the chicken. It鈥檚 the only place that I鈥檝e been to that offers this unique garlic garnish! LASTLY, the rice. We knew we鈥檙e in for the good treat when we eyed the rich yellow rice. It was super fragrant and yet not too oily and salty. I would gladly just eat one bowl of rice on its own because it鈥檚 that good. If this doesn鈥檛 get you packing your bags to try this chicken rice, I don鈥檛 know what will.

Pan-Seared Salmon Fillet (SGD $19.90) @ The Bravery Cafe. With its perfectly executed fresh salmon fish fillet. . The salmon skin is beautifully crisp, crunching lightly with salty savoury flavour, while the fish itself is juicy tender flaky in texture, with delicate savoury sweet flavour. . The rich creamy lemon butter gravy lends a nice contrast of tangy sour milky notes, while the mesclun salad (baby spinach, mizuna, sorrel, red radish, curly endive / fris茅e) lends a soft crunch with decent vegetal earthy bitter herbal flavour. . However, the supposedly roasted herbed tomato tasted like a regular tomato, and I felt it could have been grilled slightly longer for more smoky sweet flavour. But the roasted baby potatoes were nicely starchy earthy sweet with a tender touch. . . . The Bravery Cafe More details in profile & blog

Bagel Set With Avocado (SGD $17) @ The Bravery Cafe. Has beautiful creamy soft scrambled eggs with delicate eggy sweet salty flavour, and the chewy soft raisin bagel with fruity bready sweet flavour. . The fresh mesclun salad (chard, mizuna, baby spinach) dressed in tangy balsamic vinaigrette has decent vegetal sweet sour bitter flavour, while the rosettes of average smoked salmon fish was tender soft with a light salty savoury sweet flavour. . The creamy soft halved avocado is paired with a sprinkle of lemon juice, and as expected, this is properly vegetal earthy nutty in taste. However, the soft cream cheese seemed an afterthought here. . . . The Bravery Cafe More details in profile & blog

A Sandwich Featuring 鈥淭he Epitome Of Japanese Pork鈥 ($48++) H O S T E D Being a sucker for pork, I was immensely curious about the taste of Budou-buta, the 鈥淕rape Pork鈥 from Japan that Bedrock has brought in for this festive season. So I said yes at once when I received the dinner invitation. Of the three dishes featuring the premium pork created by Executive Isaac Tan and his team, the Pulled Pork and Shrimp Sandwich ($48++) was the one that swept both my dining partner and I off our feet. It鈥檚 an extraordinarily tasty combination of the very tender Japanese pork with just the right amount of truffle mayo between slices of brioche. Now, the brioche itself deserves special mention because it鈥榮 crazy buttery in fragrance and possessed an otherworldly airy-lightness. Honestly, I found the sandwich impressive enough to warrant a return visit but its accompaniments sealed the deal. The in-house pickled cucumber and chillies provided the perfect counterpoint to the rich sandwich while the highly-addictive crispy-fried potato straws contributed extra texture to the overall. I am glad @momofuku doesn鈥檛 do potatoes because it meant I could inhale the entire heap freely. It may not be obvious in my video but the portion is huge. If you have a smallish appetite, sharing might be a good idea. But make sure you don鈥檛 miss out on trying other items when you鈥檙e at Bedrock, like the deliciously complex Smoked Tomato Soup, the ever-popular and decadent signature Mac 鈥榥鈥 Cheese or the well-seasoned Roasted Bone Marrow.

Mango with Mini Rice Ball / Double Layered Milk Pudding Sweet mangoes with mini rice balls and popping pearls聽銆$5 Located just opposite hotel indigo is a shop that sells Hong Kong style dessert. The mango with mini rice ball that I have ordered leans on the sweet and creamy side. As someone who loves chewy stuff and bbt, this is a perfect combination where I get to chew on the rice balls and pop the popping bobas at the same time. It suddenly reminds me of Fruce where they have mango sago as a dessert beverage. Shunde Double Layered Milk Pudding The texture is similar to beancurd, soft and silky. This is something worth a try if you like to have something milky for dessert 銆$3.60

Another cafe offering oriental desserts, but @jinyumantangdessert ain鈥檛 really the same. Their menu was pretty extensive with interesting series of 鈥渇ried custard鈥 besides 鈥渄ouble layer milk鈥 or 鈥渒nocked milk (鎾炲ザ)鈥. So the fried custard we tried was unusual but good. Warm, gooey and smooth, it was comforting in an eggy way. The ginko nuts topping we picked added a nice texture to it. On our double layered milk we had red beans which were so perfectly shaped and had a nice bite. Interestingly, their toppings didn鈥檛 sweeten the desserts which differentiated them but in a healthy and tasty way. Two other items that caught our eyes were the milk pudding with coconut and fried milk in crispy roll that definitely were special. The warm semi-melted milk tasted so good wrapped in the thin layer of crispy skin. This cafe also had a nice double-storey space to chill out in, especially the upper level with comfy sofa seats.

Champagne Lobster Roll ($40). Dining at @burgerandlobstersg still feels like a dream come true, especially with my favourite of the night, champagne lobster roll. Comparing to the original lobster roll which is heavy on savoury flavours, this was sweet on palate. The curious me asked if it was popular with ladies, which turned out to be the case! Be awed by the succulent lobster chunks, doused in a luxurious, creamy, sweet Champagne Hollandaise sauce. Look at how the toasted brioche roll was stuffed, nothing but pure indulgence. Personally thought that the champagne hollandaise sauce complemented the fragrant butteriness of the slightly crisp roll. Just scream with pleasure, at such decadence in life.

Champagne Lobster Roll [~$40] Creamy champagne hollandaise was too much that it masked the sweetness of the lobster meat. The tobiko fish roe was a nice touch. And the dill was purely for aesthetics.

Original Lobster Roll. ($40). With @burgerandlobstersg now opened at Raffles Hotel, you can easily get your lobster fix without having to travel all the way to Jewel. If you have heard about their Lobster Rolls, why not try them? The classic original lobster roll is a must try, especially if your palates are heavy on savoury. Featuring chilled chunks of lobster meat, tossed and dressed in creamy lemon mayo, stuffed in a toasted brioche roll. Notice how the chunks are overflowing between the warm, pillowy buns that were filled with a prominent butter flavour. Sinking our teeth into the stunning juicy lobster meat, there was a complexity in flavours ranging from sweet, briny to a complementing, refreshing tanginess. Nothing short of a deep satisfaction. Accompanied with fries, salad, chives and lemon and garlic butter, which we happily dunked our lobster chunks into.

miso pasta got the 40% off deal with this purchase (mi so sexy, a miso-sesame based pasta with shimeiji mushrooms, angel hair pasta & an onsen egg + tomayto-tomato, a tomato based linguine pasta with your choice of smoked beef sausage or chorizos) using burpple beyond but tried the green eyed monster (thai green curry penne with zucchini and chicken breast) with burpple 1-for-1 before. The miso pasta was satisfying as usual!! found the taste really interesting because i鈥檓 so used to seeing olive oil/cream/tomato/pesto based pastas. Not to mention the slight awkwardness when you make your order... bold claim!! tomayto-tomato was a little underwhelming as i felt that the sausage slices, though generous, were thin, but you can鈥檛 win at everything in life la.. pasta was not bad!! nice place to chill and grab dessert after (the charcoal waffles are yum!!), and the pasta flavours are really interesting. I鈥檒l definitely come back to try more :鈥) i do find the portion a little small though,, but when it comes to pasta i consume 1.5 portions by default...

Charcoal Waffle with Matcha and Hazelnut As you can see...the structural integrity of the ice cream was a bit lacking as it toppled over upon being served. I wasn't a big fan of the charcoal waffles as it had a bit of an artificial taste. The ice-cream was a bit too sweet as well.

Ice Cream And Waffles [$7.25 in total using Burpple beyond] Ice cream was nice - ordered the cereal milk and roasted rice tea (premium) flavours which were both very nice! Would recommend the tea flavour - unique and not too sweet. Waffles had an unexpected salty taste to it. Texture was fine though. Overall, worth it with 40% off on Burpple beyond.
