Deal: Burpple Beyond 1-for-1

Dim Sum Haus is a small eatery tucked away in Jalan Besar and to be honest, I wouldnโ€™t have known about it if it wasnโ€™t on Burpple Beyond. But Iโ€™m so glad that I found out about it! I particularly like their Steamed Charcoal and Shrimp Dumpling, which is an interesting take on the usual Siew Mai. It is bigger than the average Siew Mai, and is topped with prawn roe which gives it a nice bite. The shrimp and chicken goes well together, as well.

If youโ€™re looking for a rich and decadent chocolate tart, this is it!! This has a dense layer of chocolate, topped with light and fluffy marshmallow. Itโ€™s one of my must orders at Wimbly Lu! If you want something in addition to their famous ice cream and waffles, do get this ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜‹

Soo happy I finally got a chance to try this!! ๐Ÿ˜ I loved eating chimney cakes in Eastern Europe, and finally I have a chance to try it here in Singapore! ๐Ÿ˜‹ They offer a variety of flavours and toppings here (even savory chimney cakes??), and we decided to get their signature Chimney King! This comes with homemade Vanilla ice cream, brownies, nuts and is drizzled with salted caramel and chocolate sauce. I love how rich and creamy the ice cream was! However, the chimney cake was not as fresh and fragrant as the ones I had in Eastern Europe, as it was not made on the spot. Nonetheless, this is still a really yummy (and instragamable) dessert option!! Do try this if you havenโ€™t had this before ๐Ÿ˜‹

Best shared among 2-3 people, the Half & Half combo is a really great platter for those who want a bit of everything ๐Ÿ˜‹ It comes with half slab of sticky bones and baby back ribs, with sausages, fries, coleslaw and salad! And you get a choice of 2 sauces - Hickory Sweet BBQ, Kansas Sweet BBQ, Garlic BBQ, Smoked Peppercorn or Spicy Asian BBQ. My favourite was Hickory BBQ, which was sweet and smoky! The ribs were tender as well ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

While Morganfieldโ€™s is known for their ribs, this deserves a separate mention on itโ€™s own! ๐Ÿ˜ Nachos topped with pulled ribs, chili, sour cream and cheese (with a good cheese pull!!!) It may not look thaaat appetizing, but it was really good! ๐Ÿ˜‹

Opened by the same people behind The Assembly Ground cafe, Benjamin Barker Cafe serves similar food, such as Laksa Pasta and Truffle Scented Mushroom & Egg Pizza (both I highly recommend!) This time, I decided to try their brunch set, which includes creamy scrambled eggs, chicken brastwurst and a choice of smoked salmon or char honey pork belly! The latter was recommended by the server and I agree that it was a good choice! I like that itโ€™s not your typical brunch fare, and it had a nice bite and flavour. Would come back again and order this ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜‹

I had high hopes and really wanted to love this, but the duck leg confit was unfortunately way too salty for me ๐Ÿ˜ข The service was good and I really liked the appetizers (french onion soup was really rich and cheesy!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ), but the main dish was quite a disappointment. If you like heavier meals or meals that are rich on flavour and salt, then this may be for you? But personally this was a miss for me :(

If youโ€™re a tteokbokki lover like me, this restaurant is a dream come true!! You have the option to customize your tteokbokki sauce (with varying spice levels) and there is a wide variety of rice cakes to choose from. I highly recommend the ones with cheese filling! Also, they have a variety of instant noodles, sweet potato noodles and glass noodles as well! Apart from carbs, they also have vegetables, meat and seafood ๐Ÿ˜‹ In addition, they have a cooked food section (their fried chicken is sooo good) They also have Korean fish cakes exactly like the ones sold in Korea! Towards the end of the meal, you also have the option of adding rice to your sauce, to make yummy fried rice. And the best part is, everything is free flow! :โ€™))) Do note that there is a time limit of 90min though!

I saw so many people ordering this, and knew that I should get it as well! And it did not disappoint!! ๐Ÿ˜‹ True to itโ€™s name, the pancakes were really fluffy and moist. I liked the added crunch of the caramelised walnuts and crumbles. The salted caramel sauce added a nice finishing touch as well ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Really hearty big breakfast!! ๐Ÿ˜‹This is perfect brunch food. (especially those with a big appetite) It comes with eggs of any style (we chose scrambled!), really fatty bacon, pork sausage, huge portobello mushrooms, vegetable rosti, chorizo baked beans, cherry tomatoes and sourdough toast! It was really satisfying! Iโ€™m not a huge fan of big baked beans, but I really liked the ones they serve here. Also, the scrambled eggs were really creamy! However, we found the sourdough toast very tough, and we had a hard time cutting into it. ๐Ÿ˜ฐ Itโ€™s a little pricey at $27, but itโ€™s worth getting if youโ€™re sharing with friends ๐Ÿ˜Š

Deal: Burpple Beyond 1-for-1

Newly opened at Science Park, The Fat Chook Company offers a variety of Vietnamese-Western fusion food. We decided to try their Set Menu, which consists of 1 Main + 1 Side for $14.50. (Plus we got it at 1-for-1 thanks to Burpple Beyond!) We chose the Beef Dry Noodle Vermicelli and Oriental Chicken Dry Noodle Vermicelli as our mains. The portions were quite big, and they were really tasty! The chargrilled chicken was really tender and flavorful. I would have appreciated more sauce though, because the noodles became slightly dry. For the sides, we chose the Pull Spicy Beef Burrito and Crispy Fried Chilli Prawn. The burrito was really good and filling. Overall, a really good meal! Worth trying if youโ€™re in the area ๐Ÿ˜Š

Update: They have revised their menu and are no longer offering some items such as the beef burrito (which is a pity because it was really tasty!) Also, the burpple beyond deal no longer applies to set meals. :(

The dim sum here is sooo good and affordable!! I think I know where to go for all my dim sum cravings in the future ๐Ÿ˜Š Located at the newly renovated Marine Parade Food Centre, this humble store serves a variety of yummy dim sum! Must tries are the handmade Fresh Shrimp Chee Cheong Fun ($3.60), Crystal Dumplings ($3.60) and Hakka Yong Tau Foo ($3.80) ๐Ÿ˜ The prices are really affordable too! We only paid around $30 for 4 of us (and we were really satisfied!)
