The price of polo bun ranges from heartland bakeries to cha chaan tengs to this. I don't think it's expensive, but at some point polo buns hit a ceiling and it's pushing it to do a full cafe on this. Anyway, the X-factor is the superb crust, but on the other hand the butter was a bit stingy, which goes against the spirit of 菠萝油.
we had the CLASSIC W BUTTER ($5). super big, amazing crust but the bread was meh…butter made it better.
Went to Champion Bolo Bun 2 weeks ago and got their Classic with Butter ($5.55)😇 Overall ratings 8/10! Bun was pretty good and portion size was decent, just found it a little pricey😅 Would want to try other buns next time tho!
Soft and pillowy with a buttery, crisp, crust. On the sweeter side, this bun was larger than expected and filled me up nicely. The crust could be crisper and I thought adding a slab of butter would be good, but overall I can see why queues form for this on weekends. Ample seating spread across 3 floors.
I personally would not queue for these popular Bolo buns but my son did so I must have a bite. It’s ok - soft sugary baked buns to me.
Came here a few times for takeaway, finally has a chance to dine in and enjoy the freshly baked Classic Bolo Bun with slice of butter.
