Live your life with zest!! At least I try to, by having a Lime Meringue Tart ($8.50) from @daizu.cafe. This new minimalist cafe along Rangoon Road, serve Japanese and Western modern fusion food. As it was our second stop for the day, we had to settle for desserts and small bites.

Mixed with chia seed, the curd is just the right balance of tart and sweet. But if you prefer savoury bites, check out their Curry Aioli Fries ($8) or Mentaiko Fries ($12) which are served with in-house specialty sauce

Sauce has a balanced taste of miso and goma. Quite generous with the beef portion. Beef felt it a little too rare. However it still tasted good together with the rice!

Daizu’s Bara Chirashi ($18). This dish didn’t sit so well with us as we found the rice a little dry and hard and the fish were not seasoned enough imo. The quantity of fish though was generous so that’s a plus.

Chilli Softshell Crab with Brioche Sticks ($14)

House speciality at newly opened @daizu.cafe , this is a must order. Chilli crab sauce is tangy and mildly spicy and the toasted brioches sticks are light and crispy, the perfect pairing to mop up all the sauce!

Newly opened along Rangoon Road is the sleek looking @daizu.cafe. Self referenced as a minimalist Japanese-Western restaurant, expect dishes like Garlic Butter Sakura Ebi Pasta, Chirashi Bowls and this take on the classic chilli crab dish.

This fared much better than the chirashi bowl; the sauce was thick and had just the right amount of heat and tang to keep things interesting. The toasted brioche was the perfect vessel for mopping up all that sauce too. Gonna keep it real and say the food was a little hit and miss for now, but definitely wouldn’t mind giving them another shot!

Newly opened! They are still reversing the menu which I hope will be more innovative and interesting, got their tempura Enoki ($10), chilli soft shell crab don ($17) and strawberry latte ($7). The strawberry latte is abit of an interesting mix, not sure if it’s the best combi but can try once. Will prefer the chill crab sauce with bread than rice. The Enoki can be more for the price and fits better as like bar bites than an aesthetic side.
