Sizzling Quinoa Brown Rice

$15.80 · 8 Reviews

Perfect for impressing your date on a budget, this zen Asian fusion spot plates up beautiful vegetarian dishes that don't break the bank. Opt for their 5 Course Set ($26.80) or spend a little more for the 8 Course Set ($32.80) that comes with bread and apple cider. For mains, choose from 12 dishes. Standouts include the Sizzling Quinoa Brown Rice ($15.80 if ordered ala carte) that is fragrant and has just the right amount of char, and the Spicy Shiitake with Purple Rice Roll ($15.80 if ordered ala carte) that features sushi rice and flavourful, crunchy shiitake mushrooms.

One of my favourite vegetarian restaurant to patronize, as they would substitute meat flavors using mushroom or tofu rather than creating the ‘mock’ using flour.

A piping hot and sizzling Quinoa Brown Rice made me forget about the carbs and went for a second helping! The charred rice grains at the bottom of the claypot was my favorite part of the dish as it gave extra fragrance to the rice! Even without meat, the rice was nicely seasoned without being overly greasy.

4.5 munchies: I love it whenever I walk into a restaurant with zero expectations and a dish like the quinoa brown rice featured here exceeds them all. Served in a hot stone pot, the brown and black rice was cooked to al dente perfection and had a savoury, nutty taste to it. White quinoa was also added for extra fluffy texture and nutty flavour. The rice was still sizzling away when I helped myself to the third serving! Absolutely loved the crispy grains at the bottom of the stone pot – think of claypot rice without all the sodium and grease. It was so flavourful that I was able to ignore the finely-diced green and red capsicum in the dish. 5 munchies if only shiitake or lion’s mane mushrooms were added to the dish! #RASEpicurean #Burpproved

I'd also highly recommend the Wild Mushroom & White Truffle Pizza and Snow Chrysanthemum with Grass Jelly dessert. Congratulations to elemen 元素 for winning the Best Asian Restaurant (Casual Dining) award at the RAS Epicurean Star Award 2017!

Really glad I got to try out Elemen at Millenia Walk for dinner, because I've always been curious as to what their food is like.

From their shopfront, I always thought that they served Chinese food with a twist (Which they do. The food is vegetarian and fusion, i.e. East meets West in this case).

Most of the menu contains mushrooms, which may be a good or bad thing depending on your preference.

This dish came in a claypot and it was sizzling! I love claypot rice and this was pretty well executed. It has white quinoa, brown rice, black rice, curly kale (!) and red and green capsicum.

Taste-wise it was nutty and slightly peppery. The grains were well-cooked and not dry and the portion size was actually quite large :) Needless to say, this rice bowl is low in calories and healthy (unlike those super greasy, MSG-filled claypot rice you can get literally everywhere). It took me some time to finish eating though.

I liked that my meal was so tasty without being oily, so props to the chef for knowing what he/she is doing! 👨🏻‍🍳👩🏻‍🍳

For the full menu, you can check out http://www.elemen.com.sg PS. They have sticky date pudding! 😱

This must be my first time seeing brown rice and quinoa in a stone pot! The rice was fragrant and had coloured bell peppers and some vegetables mixed in. Though slightly wet (not sure from sauce or oil?), it still felt like a wholesome healthy dish with good portions of all macronutrients. Mix everything up quickly and leave the rice in for a few minutes to let the hot stone char the rice. Crispy burnt brown rice tasted pretty good too!
