Also a recipient of the One-Michelin Star, Paste has been on my wishlist for quite some time and I’m glad to be able to head there for lunch before my flight. The lunch tasting menu costs 2300 THB++ per person, with a minimum of two to dine due to the communal sharing portions, and since there were six of us, we were able to do slight modifications to some of the dishes and get to taste most the mains. The starters were in fact very very good and I would think they are much better than the mains, starting with the rendition of a classic Thai dish of combining watermelon, ground fish (salmon in this case) with ikura roe, fried shallots and roasted galangal powder. The freshness of the fruit with the brininess of the fish and ikura is such an interesting, yet intriguing palate opener. The other appetisers of roasted duck on rice crackers and seared scallops on a coconut curry complete the course.
