Here at Ob Woon (translated as “warmth”), it certainly does. Helmed by Chef Joel, who previously opened Rochor Thai, he now heads the kitchen together with his team of chefs at this newly opened Thai food restaurant at Djitsun Mall Bedok (mall expected to be fully opened by end July). With years of cooking experience and even heading to the Land of Smiles to learn the original way of cooking Thai cuisine, you can be rest assured of its authenticity, quality and flavours here.

With most, if not all, Thai food restaurants/eateries serving dishes such as basil pork, stir fried morning glory, tom yum seafood, papaya salad and prawn cakes, there isn’t much differentiation between each other. However, here at Ob Woon, their winning formula is in their Thai cooking techniques, usage of fresh ingredients and preparing each dish only upon order so as to ensure quality. From the several dishes that I have tasted during my family dinner tonight, my favorites has got to be the quintessential Thai appetizer, the Papaya Salad ($6.80), which is made from pounding raw papaya, carrot strips, long bean, garlic, chillis, dried shrimps and peanuts with a homemade tamarind sauce. Also worth ordering is the Prawn Cakes ($9.80), a sure-win crowd favorite of prawn cakes that are hand made, breaded and deep fried. Congratulations once again to Chef Joel, Rui Jun and @obwoonsg for this new opening.
