Your good old-school comfort food in the neighbourhood. Opened from 1030am - 2pm, 4.30pm - 8pm, there isn’t any time when a queue isn’t formed in front of Yon Yan. Is this because it’s where the famous PM Lee-endorsed chicken wings are found? Surely I had to validate this!

Chicken wings ($1.40 each) are deep fried in small batches so you can be sure to get your hands on fresh hot ones! With each bite, crackling of the crispy batter makes it even more satiating especially when the inner juicy chicken meat is revealed. Although the wings are not heavily marinated, they bring a homely feeling with simple taste that probably hooks people to return for batches and batches of chicken wings. I especially enjoyed it with the chili, a watery sambal that you probably wouldn’t expect. Mildly spicy, the chili exhibits a welcoming sweetness and a refreshing citrusy taste that complements the meat so well.

While the bee hoon was decent and not overly greasy, I would have preferred it to be more soy saucy. And perhaps some greens too, to make it a balanced meal.
