The specialty of Ichiban Boshi at Tiong Bahru Plaza is their salmon menu, which offers some interesting salmon main courses from as low as S$10.90.

So when I ordered their Sake No Hitsumabushi (S$16.90), I was informed of a standard waiting time of 20 to 25 minutes, which was actually all right because I had other snacks before this. However, the presentation of the food eventually was not exactly the “grilled salmon belly” that was stated in the menu, because the salmon belly was cooked to the point that it was not fatty anymore. And when the star of the dish are all quite dry, it probably only made sense to just have the meal with the broth poured into the hot stone bowl.

Did I like this? Maybe, because the amount of fish given was pretty proportionate to the rice. However it would really be nice if there is also some sauce provided so that it really becomes a Hitsumabushi.
