Brunch

The uncommon geometry of this dessert was what caught my eye ages ago and recently, I decided to have it again. This time however, it didn't quite cut it for me. The pineapple filling was too sweet and the crust, too soft. It tasted like it had been on display for a bit too long if you know what I mean. Oh well, I think in the future, I'll make sure to check with the kitchen when they were baked before ordering.

If you're like me and perceive the strawberry shortcake to be the lightest cake around, I'm sure you get it when I say I never fail to find tummy space to accommodate some. The Providore's version is a beauty, and a dream to eat too. The light sponge cake is held together by even lighter cream, while large sweet strawberries ensure all that lightness doesn't float away.

"Mille Crepe" means "thousand crepes". But of course, there aren't quite that many forming this cake. Overall, it is a pleasant treat but I feel the chocolate flavour can be intensified a lot more.

It's rather indulgent to have dessert for breakfast but this is the perfect excuse. The sticky date pancakes come in the form of 3 smallish-medium pancakes but tastes exactly like sticky date pudding, especially with warm butterscotch sauce and vanilla bean ice-cream completing the picture. Sweet! :)

Tea-lovers, take your pick. The friendly cafe-owner recommends the French Vanilla with Rose. I had a cappuccino today so have to return to try the tea another time. Haha, as though I need a reason to return to this charming place ;)

First day of opening, and we couldn't wait to be the first customers! ;) Happy to have a neat little cafe so near home. Lovely decor, but very limited items on the menu for now, shall check back again soon.

And All Things Delicious is Tolido's Espresso Nook's newest neighbour, which offers a wide variety for halal-certified bakes such as Gula-Melaka Scones, Brownies and Galettes. The baker insists on using unprocessed ingredients such as unsalted butter organic ingredients so as to make their bakes taste more "natural" and it shows; clean yet flavourful treats indeed. They also share their shop space with Fictive Fingers that does pretty decent handprinted textile designs, if anyone is interested.

Light, fluffy and airy waffles with a crispy exterior and a bread-like taste as they used yeast in their recipe for that fluffiness. Cheesecake gelato was slightly jelak to finish for one, but dab it on the waffle with each slice cut and it becomes a luxurious dessert to have.
