Our favorite cafe in JB. Usually when things look pretty, the food disappoints. But not this place.
Food is really good and you could enjoy your time in this brightly sun lit space with beautiful furniture. It’s also not as crowded because it’s slightly further away, but still 5-7 min drive from CIQ. The sourdough here is incredible!

One of the better otak bun I tried. The spices in the otak lingered in the palate. How to stop at just one???

We were driving around in search of another cafe but took a wrong turn and somehow stumbled upon this charming little cafe. So we popped in to check it out.
Couldn't believe our luck at finding such awesome lattes and cappucinos (RM8.90 each) here. They were made with "My Liberica" beans, a locally grown and roasted Malaysian brand of coffee beans that's making quite a name for itself.
Desserts were a delight as well. Pristine in appearance, the Tiramisu crepe cake (RM9.90) was light yet aromatic with coffee flavour. Although it resembled cake in texture, I liked the warm brownie (RM12.90 with non-branded vanilla ice-cream) too because of how chocolatey it was.
Don't plan on having a big meal here though because they don't really have much else save for more desserts and a couple of pasta dishes.

The fishhead is decent enough being fresh and quite meaty. The "assam" gravy, very thick and lip-smackingly good with expertly balanced spiciness and sourish notes. My plate of rice ended up being smothered in it.

Cafes serving the third wave coffee is popping up in Johor Bahru. Here's one of the few at Jalan Trus. Similar prices to the ones found in Singapore. The quality of the coffee is good and the decor screams industrial chic.

Always enjoyed the Malaysian version of bak kut teh. Pipping hot and love the herbal flavors. Recommended!

Noodles are handmade on the spot. So springy! Sells out for lunch at 1pm. Highly recommended.

Brews coffee at Burpple. Secret ambition: to sell Burpple coffee for £1 in a neon pink paper cup.
