One of the stalls at Pasar Bella (Suntec) is Grillo, which I've patronised several times for the donburi. My fave is this one - Japanese rice topped with beef slices, an onsen egg and fried garlic chips, and drizzled with a sweet, truffley soy sauce. I thought the garlic and truffle went really well together, and the beef was a tender and juicy medium. Will recommend it!
Amazing beef tenderloin - perfectly seared on the outside (a little crisp even!!) and very very juicy and tender inside. I also really enjoyed the Barolo red wine sauce. This is also available on the executive set lunch menu (add $14).
The weekend set dinner includes a walnut salad dressed in a vinaigrette, a choice of the signature steak (150g) or pasta bolognese, a dessert of Paris Brest (choux pastry with hazelnut cream) and a cold beverage. I wasn't impressed with the set cause the dessert was really mediocre. The steak itself was passable but I can't decide whether it tasted better with or without the sauce cause the sauce made it a tad tangy. The sauce is really special! I thought it smelt like chwee kueh at first hahaha. But rest assured that it didn't taste like chwee kueh and it went well with the fries. Do note that the set doesn't come with free flow of fries, but you can top up $2 for it.
Signature "smashed" buns, super duper juicy patty cooked medium rare, and American cheese. I like how the tomato slices are grilled and seasoned with salt and pepper 🍅 Every burger place should do this!!! But I think the patty could be seasoned better. I don't remember it tasting so bland the last time I had it.
The Manzo is a ribeye drizzled with a black truffle sauce, served with roasted potatoes, a salad dressed in balsamic vinaigrette and steamed broccoli. I had the steak cooked medium, and it was really tender and juicy. It does not have much of a charred exterior, which I appreciate cause...carcinogens, but if you like that smokiness, this probably won't satiate you. The creamy, truffled sauce was extra decadent and yummy. Thanks to the 1-for-1 lunch promo, my delicious lunch came up to only $21 after tax and extra charges. So yummy and affordable!
This is not your typical cheesy beef burger. It's packed with interesting flavours from the tangy savoury pomodoro, creamy pepper-infused mustard, and bitterness of the most hipster vegetable, rocket. The beef patty is lovely - charred along the edges but juicy and moist inside... And I didn't detect any fillers! 👍 The side of fries is also gd - crispy and had a strong potato flavour. The char siew burger, melty and so flavourful, is also worth trying!
I can't get enough of the sukiyaki style ramen by Buta God. It's so different from the usual ramen, but no less satisfying. The broth is rich and sweet, just like sukiyaki except with more depth. Comes with a really generous portion of tender flavourful sukiyaki beef, which goes so well with the dried chili powder. This is gyu don in noodle form ;)
This is handmade pasta in a robust, tomato-based oxtail ragout. The chunks of beef have been stewed till they're so tender and melty that they simply fall apart. Flavours that warm your soul :')
Caldillo is a beef stew, served with Mexican rice and tortilla wraps. I like how the tortilla wraps were served in that traditional box. :D The beautifully spiced stew really reminded me of rendang, except less spicy and oily, probably because the chunks of beef in it were lean. The stew also had a tomatoey base. Though a piece or two of the beef could do with more stewing, they were generally tender. The generous portions, bustling ambience, and attentive and unpretentious service mean we'll be back. :)
Slices of beef sizzling with caramelized onions, capsicum and jalapeños in a lip-smacking sauce that had a touch of spice. Eat the jalapeños if you want more kick but I didn't dare to try heehee. This came with sides of guacamole, sour cream, salsa and shredded lettuce, and three big tortilla wraps. Was soooo good. Take care not to let the beef sit on the hot plate for too long though - mine got kinda tough towards the end of my meal. Portion was generous as well, and I was very very full after this. Yum yum.
Shove away fast food burgers. This burger was affordable, made fresh upon order and fast! Though you can't customize the doneness of the patty, it was thick and juicy, topped with a big handful of portobello mushrooms (I think...or button hahaha pls excuse me) and cheese. You can add $2.80 (student price) or $3.50 for a meal (fries and a canned drink) and I'd recommend it. The fries had a great flavour on its own so I didn't eat it with ketchup in the end. And they were crisp, and stayed crisp throughout my meal. Yay! My dad's meal was a double original beef burger, and he was very pleased with it too. :)
The steak (medium rare) was so juicy and tender, I wasn't sure what cut of meat it was anymore. ;) The sides of pasta and potato balls were satisfactory. Only gripe is that the portion was tiny, which made this kind of pricey. I finished this and went on to order 2 makis. ._. Not for hungry burpplers! That said, the quality of the beef was great. You pay for what you get I guess!
