From Paddy Hills at 38 South Buona Vista Road. Think of this as a baked eggs meets beef stew dish that comes with all sort of goodies from beef shank, chorizo, sautéed mushrooms and potatoes. The stew gets quite overwhelming halfway through for it only gets more savoury as time goes by, but overall you get a good combination of savoury and tangy flavours with a runny egg yolk. Walnut Toasts were crusty but had the tension in the centre when chewed; pretty satisfying. A tip: mix the hash at the start or the condiments feel like as though they are just taking their own respective areas they are assigned to.
Crab salad with chilled pea soup. I hate the smell of peas(I still pick peas out from fried rice.), so I was super hesitant to taste this soup. After the first spoonful, I was hooked! The freshness of the crab balanced perfectly with the creaminess of the soup, with only a very very slight hint of the sweetness from the peas. DELICIOUS!!MUST TRY!!
Located a few steps away from Maxwell Food Centre, Monochrome Fusion Bistro's unique feature is their uber-stylish monochrome-themed decor and plating, as well as their meticulous attention to aesthetic. Not every item on the menu follows the colour scheme though, so to remain in-keeping with the theme and go for their Monochrome Aglio Olio ($25) -- a combination of normal and squid ink spaghetti served with edamame and a choice of either mussels or prawn -- or their Monochrome Squid Ink Risotto with pan-seared scallops and Parmesan cheese. A very attractively-priced $18.90++ lunch deal (soup + choice of a main + coffee/tea) is currently available on weekdays!
