Having heard that Kay Lee was bought over as a business for about $4 million, I had mixed feelings about trying it now because I was unsure if they would retain the quality. I don't know about how it tasted before, but true to my reservations, the roasted meat here was dismal and disappointing. Firstly, the exorbitant price was enough to turn us off. The portion that you see in the picture cost 22 dollars. I would have done better to have ordered individual portions which would probably cost 5 dollars per plate. Felt totally ripped off. If that wasn't bad enough, the roasted pork was served slightly cold and the crispy part was rock hard and hard to bite. The charsiew, the supposed star, was hard and dry, not tender at all. Extremely disappointing :( The only thing that tasted alright was the braised egg.
I would recommend anybody who is thinking of trying Kay Lee to stay away and instead head to places like Char, Fatty Cheong, or Keong Saik Road where they serve authentic honey glazed charsiew which are "又黑又肥".

Oily, slimy, and tasteless, this dish was absolutely torrid and nothing from what I know bone marrow to be; which is usually succulent, juicy and full of flavour! No wonder it was littered with so much spring onions ><
Despite this, I have to commend the service that I received at Bedrock Bar & Grill:
One of the waiters came over to ask us about the food and I gave my 2 cents worth of feedback - I asked how the bone marrow was prepared and shared that the bone marrow I am used to having is usually rich in flavour. He promptly informed me shortly after that this dish was removed from the bill and apologised. I was floored because he didn't need to do that for us. That left a deep impression and even though I find the food here a little overpriced, it would give me a reason to come again. Well done Bedrock Bar & Grill for taking care of your customers!

Bland, without a taste of truffle. Requested for more shaved Parmesan but that wasn't enough to improve the taste. I guess it tasted healthy and it was consumed fast cause we were all hungry.

I'm not sure what Kalbi is; if it's sticky and chewy slime that tastes like burnt BBQ remains, then yes I had it. I really like the sautéed broccoli which was slightly smoked and extremely crunchy, and the mash was really thick and creamy. But seriously, I didn't order broccoli and mash.

Very mediocre beef sandwich - beef was dry, cheese was too cheesy, and the mix of tomato sauce and mustard didn't quite work or blend at all. The fries tasted good with the cheese though, which is weird cause I'm pretty sure it's the same cheese used in the sandwich. As an entry under Burpple's Hot 100, I was fairly disappointed.

I was intrigued at this yogurt-in-bun concept; plus the shape of it looked pretty cool, like a UFO. As I watched my Squeezed bun being prepared, I noticed that the amount of yogurt used was so minute - only about 5 full scoops :/ nonetheless, the blend was quite tasty with the warm bread coating the original-strawberry mixed froyo where I could taste some fruit bits in its texture. However, this experience was short lived as I finished consuming all the yogurt after 4-5 mouthfuls, with my last bite bursting the bun open, making it slightly messy. Not too bad an experience for its novelty, but given the small size of the bun and quantity of yogurt, I probably wouldn't pick this one up again.

From the people who brought to you Don's Pies, Bazuka Yakibuta serves up "explosive grilled pork" as expressed in its brand name. I saw a post on this donburi and I wanted to try it since they have an outlet at One@Kent Ridge which is in the proximity of school. I had the combination Donburi which included both Crackling and Caramalised Roast Pork ($9.80), plus I added an onsen egg ($1) to bathe my rice bowl with some egg yolk sauce ^^
Unfortunately the taste of this did not meet my expectations at all. Perhaps it was a little late into afternoon so the roast pork and charsiew was served cold, so was the onsen egg but that didn't matter as much. I think the saving grace might have been the dried chili which contained a bit of hebe and shallots. Honestly, it tasted like an upmarket hawker store, but I wouldn't even say that cause some hawkers serve better pork. The sauce was also too salty even though it was drizzled in small amounts over the rice. Sadly, I wouldn't come back anymore :( if I was in the area and was craving for charsiew rice, I think I would visit the Kopitiam upstairs to get my fix.

I remember being slightly disappointed with the dinner menu the last time I came amidst raving reviews so I decided to come again to try their brunch menu which looked more interesting and appetizing.
However, the interesting dishes failed to live up to the hype :( I had myself the Mac 'n Cheese burger as seen here. First of all I would commend the beef patty it was done pretty well in terms of flavor, but to be honest the one I had at Ministry of Ribs was better. For the interesting Mac 'n Cheese 'buns', I could only taste the texture of the cheese and not the flavor, and also the macaroni was dry and hard.
All in all, I would still recommend this place as a nice place to hangout, perhaps for their Chicken and waffles or drinks (can't comment cause I never tried - they have Bourbon) but not as a cafe or a diner.

Here at Violet Oon's after hearing raved reviews from friends and from her popularity. I would say though that overall the food was rather disappointing.
Here's the Ayam goreng which is basically fried chicken with bits of fried coconut shavings. The chicken which was said to have been marinated with many spices was not very flavorful, and the fried coconut shavings were soft and not crunchy enough.

Came over to Wildfire Kitchen to try The Works burger after seeing mouth watering pictures and posts. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the beef which was dry and a bit too cooked for my liking (it was done medium rare but tasted like well done). The fried onion rings gave the burger some oomph but was let down by the potato rosti which was a bit cold :/ good thing that there wasn't any service charge to make it more expensive. I don't think I would be coming again, maybe to the adjacent Mr. Prata instead.

"I love eating. But I hate getting fat. I love eating. But I only want to eat the best. I love eating. But I'm reluctant to spend too much." The above are a few paradoxes that describe my love-hate relationship with food. Yet at the same time they define my principles for choosing the places which I love to eat: 1) Hearty 2) Tasty 3) Worthy (of my money)
