La Nonna is one of our top places for hearty, homey Italian fare, and that certainly includes their thin-crust pizzas baked to order in their wood-fire oven. Book a table for Sunday lunch with the family and order the La Nonna Pizza ($24.50). A longtime favourite on the menu, their signature tomato-based pizza is a winning combination of mozzarella, parmesan, asparagus, black truffle paste and a oozy egg. Another one to try is the Meat Lovers ($25.90), a tomato-based pizza topped with mozzarella, onion, salami, ham, pancetta and roasted chicken. Portion sizes are generous so pace yourselves! Pro tip: While more out of the way compared to this Holland Village outlet, their Namly Place restaurant offers slightly more competitve pricing ($23 for the La Nonna Pizza), but the Meat Lovers is not on the menu there. This might be something price-sensitive Burpplers would want to consider.

Easily the best and most authentic Italian gourmet pizza I've ever had in Singapore. I've been to many parts of Italy and had the real thing, so saying that is something (seriously though, good pizza in Italy is not really a fair comparison anyway). Pictured: Their take on Hawaiian pizza and Beef roast pizza. They're slightly under 20 bucks a pizza. Two pizzas are more than enough for a couple's dinner. Bill came up to ~$70 with dessert and drinks of course. I wouldn't recommend it to people without access to a car however.

A more pocket friendly restaurant by Celebrity Chef Mario Batali, Mozza, located at the upscale Marina Bay Sands provides a casual ambience suitable for your gathering with friends and family! Amongst the pizza that we ordered, the Funghi Misti was a hit for me with the 4 different types of mushrooms used in it. The creamy cheese (fontina and taleggio) and thyme worked together effortlessly to bring this pizza to life. Definitely one of the best pizzas I've ever had!

If quality pasta, pizza and desserts in an intimate spot is your idea of a good date night, then this is undoubtedly the place for you. The menu is unpretentious and so appealing in its simplicity, and it is this approachable vibe of Cicheti that makes for a perfect first date or a no-brainer, regular date night. Start with the Insalata di Rucola e Pera ($11), a well-balanced salad of grilled sweet pear with salty gorgonzola, refreshing fennel, peppery arugula and an umami finish of balsamic reduction. Then, have the comforting handmade Pappardelle al Ragu with lamb shoulder ($26), a wood-fired Bismark ($23) pizza topped with an oozy egg, or the Cioppino ($29), seafood gently stewed with tomatoes, garlic and chili. Don't leave without sharing a dessert, this is one of the few places that maintains excellence across the entire menu. For the perfect ending, go for the luscious molten Salted-Chocolate with pink sea salt, or the Cold-Smoked Cheesecake (both $12.50) that is exquisitely creamy and gently kissed with smoke. If you have the space, have them both. Enjoy the warm, inviting glow of the restaurant as you chat your way through your wine, thoughtfully priced at just $12 a glass, while bottles start at $55.
