A new comer to the ever so dainty Dew dessert bar.. Strawberry and pistachio tart that has an interesting stark contrast of colours, textures and flavours too.. surprisingly it wasn’t too overly sweet but the pistachio flavour wasn’t really strong #afoodiesaffair #burpple #burpplekl #bangsareats #dewbangsar

Bangsar has never ceased to amaze us with new eateries and new cuisine to savour or to even just have a lazy Sunday brunch! The latest edition to the Bangsar food scene is the Aussie inspired Urban Daybreak.. This place has generated a humongous hype surrounding its food especially the Avocado toast which is a fan favourite of the fellow Aussies! Do come in early during the weekends or if you can wait then visit them after 4pm as the crowds disappears to embark their food journeys of the day.. So I had the Perfect Omelette (RM24) which is a bold choice of word to express a humble egg. This is one of the reasons why we chose this dish as like how Jacques Pepin would say that a good chef will make an excellent egg dish.. it may seem nothing but it does resonates a lot for this restaurant.. For their Perfect Omelette, it was filled with baby spinach and smoked salmon and topped off with a heavy dollop of cream cheese accompanied by toasted almonds and mesclun salad.. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as well seasoned or well balanced as it may sound on the menu. The Omelette was well cooked with a creamy and buttery texture but it was under seasoned for most part of it and when it gets you towards the end of it; there it was a big hit of salt just slathers your tongue with it! It wasn’t the most pleasant experience and the bitter salad wasn’t a great accompaniment as it lacks in textures or flavours that complements or even elevate the dish.. it was overall a mediocre dish with lacklustre accompaniments

Frozen Artisans had truly sparks plenty of joy in everyone’s mind and hearts with its home made crafty creamy scoop of ice cream that could rival the Italian gelato and not to forget its charming little plated creations! Must try the Musang King if you aren’t fearful of the king of fruit #afoodiesaffair #icecreambae #dessertporn #bangsar #foodie #burpple #burpplekl #frozenartisan #frozenicecream

A strawberry tart is a great substitute to a pie and a great stress reliever when an amazing one is made! #afoodiesaffair #lisettecafe #bangsar #burpple #burpplekl #foodphotography

When you are craving for something that is rich yet nutty which has the consistency of a peanut butter but a healthier option. Then you would turn to the Mediterranean cuisine for that thrill of having food with tons and tons of spices, textures and flavours!
Thank god to the food gods for bestowing us this amazing gift of Shawarma king that opens in Bangsar which is located the same row as Joy St gelato and you can have those healthy snacks for supper too!
Well it was a small little space but you can feel that you’re in marakesh with the colorful and carpet decorations.. We had the pleasure to try out their hummus!
It’s a traditional hummus (RM12.90) which comes in a small bowl served with olive oil and it is perfect for 1 alongside a piece of warm bread that resembles a tortilla.. The texture of this hummus is really silky, rich and creamy with a slight nutty texture! Love their chickpea dip and it was really well seasoned

In the little space of Iloha nestled a small yet homey Japanese tea house hails from Kyotonabe, Kyoto! The people behind this Maiko Tea House is an extremely passionate and are like energizer bunnies to showcase to you and share the delights of Japanese tea! We only know the matcha tea which is famously poured in Japanese restaurants or sold in supermarkets but in this quaint little tea house, you will be amazed with that enormous range of teas from Houjicha, Sencha to its signature which is the Gyokuro tea that is award winning and has this really interesting yet umami type flavour profile; think of chicken essence.. They also features sweet treats like Houjicha parfait (RM18) which is Home made fresh and it was a filled with layers of complexity yet it managed to retain the freshness and not bring too rich! Love the smoky taste of the Houjicha tea ice cream which was accompanied by the freshly cut strawberries and mango together with sweet cubes of Nata de coco and a cloud of whipped cream!

Would you believe in the concept of having a dewy complexion with just a good healthy dose of dark bitter chocolate dessert? Well I do wish this is a proven theory! As I love anything that is made with dark bitter chocolate! Recently, we stumbled across the latest venture by Jaslyn from Jaslyn Cakes that is located next to the yummy Jaslyn Cakes called as Dew! This dessert cafe at the moment doesn’t have any signage at the moment so it is easily to be missed out as the outside of this shop is a florist.. once you walked passed the florist, you are welcomed with a very calm and minimalist atmosphere cafe that has an endless of white marble table.. The cafe is greeted warmly by the display cabinet which is posses the hardest challenge to decide in terms of ordering.. There is a pre-made and freshly made desserts which in this case we decided to go for Valrhona Chocolate Souffle (RM16).. Bare in mind that you have to be patient in waiting for this Valrhona beauty be ready in 20-25 minutes.. It’s was really a worthy wait as the soufflé has a crispy exterior and a soft yet fluffy center that explodes with the intense, warm and nutty chocolate taste!

Kaiju has always been a long time wishlist place of mine to try out their amazing sake cocktail and that fiery delights that balances the best both of worlds which is Japan & Thailand! Recently they have launched a little new menu of appetizers to mains and also the cocktails! And not to forget they also serve desserts too.. Be sure to check out with the server on the availability of those dishes. For us we tried out their latest addition to their main menu which is the Awesome Aussie Beef (RM36) with dragon vegetables.. It is on the smaller portion so if you’re hungry be sure to order other dishes as well.. This dish is beautiful in terms of presentation and in taste wise; it has that fiery kick that hits you on the back of the throat that comes along to reveal itself after the luscious enjoyment of the soft, tender and melt in your mouth Aussie tenderloin that just makes you enjoy it every mouthful! This dish would go nice with a bowl of rice and even a glass of junmai daiginjo sake as it has the soft and perfumy aroma that would go nicely with the beef alongside the acidity and the fiery kick that is subtle yet has an alluring presence to tantalize the senses

Well there will be a time in a month that we will feel that our wallet has slimmed down a lot and you would start to budget just to tie over another week till the pay day arrives! There is a place in Bangsar, yes in bangsar! I know you wouldn't believe your ears but there is a tiny little eatery in Bangsar that would be able to help you to get over that week before pay day with its RM2.50 per dish! This place is called BAE-build and eat.. That's the concept which they will have a menu which is rather simple and straight forward with every dish is priced at rm2.50 that has a rather petite portion and there are special dish of average serving portions with a rather hefty price.. So we decided to try out the Nasi Lemak, Ayam Masak Merah & Bayam (RM2.50each).. The Portion is really petite and just nice if you're a small eater but for yours truly it was rather underwhelming.. In terms of taste, the Nasi lemak was really nice and fragrant. Then comes the Ayam Masak Meath which is truly fiery! I would recommend that you to get another portion of white rice just to eat with it! Overall, in my opinion, it is a fun concept but the execution and service is truly lacking..

A very intriguing yet momofuku inspired dish that is crafted by the creative minds of VCR Bangsar.. This is one of the popular trends of food which is the humble Bao but with a Japanese twist added to it! Well this cafe has been the hallmark of KL with its laid back atmosphere and a very Instagram setting that has lured people in from across the country and also across the border too.. This place has churned out fantastic Australian inspired brunch dishes that makes every heart and stomach flutter with happiness not to forget the butterflies every time one of the crowd favourites dishes were mentioned or being shared amongst their fellow family or friends! That is how great of an influence that it has for me that I still grinning with glee at the thought of the magnificent French Toast! This time, I decided to be alittle adventurous with their menu and went ahead with their Japanese dish which is Salmon & Ebi Bao (RM20) that really reminded me of the famous Momofuku bun dish with a VCR spin of introducing the Salmon as the patty and it is being fried to perfection that the coating was like a second skin that brought out the crispy and crunchy texture yet it manages to retain the moisture and juicy texture of the salmon and it was well seasoned.. The Salmon patty also being topped off with a sprinkles of the dainty yet fresh shrimp that is coated with a zesty tartar sauce which truly complements both the salmon and shrimp and it was crowned with wilted greens! The Bao itself is really fluffy and light enough with structure to withstand the sauce that was accompanied by the Salmon & prawn.. Truly delicious and petite for 1 person! They truly are a craftsmen of brunch!

In the APW bangsar vicinity, there is a famous ootd/Instagram staircase spot that actually leads up to a small home of a special snack called the sushi burrito.. This sushi burrito is actually the brainchild of Makirito that runs permanent pop shop here after having a lot of experimenting fun with their mobile pop up around the kl area.. You may spot a hand drawn menu on their windows along side the pricing which is reasonable relative to their portion.. I chose their Signature Salmon burrito (RM16)which is actually hand made individually by their expert makirito minions.. it's really a hearty treat after a nice cuppa coffee as the flavours are really refreshing and the Salmon is really fresh to be enjoyed.. They are actually a small little home to just sit for a while or to just grab and go.. Their menu is still in the early stages with a few combinations but do expect them to have more funky combinations soon!

A cup of coffee a day keeps the doctor and stress away.. In this case, it would be their walnut brownie with throwback ice cream and a cuppa satisfyingly good latte! For a rainy afternoon, this is an ideal tea time treat to relax and unwind before your dinner plans or to just avoid the heavy traffic.. it's a great distraction as their latte (RM12) here is made with perfect balance of sweet and sourish and the beans is well roasted that brings out the aroma of freshly baked ginger biscuits and walnut that goes well with their walnut brownie (RM10) and you can go for their add on which is the throwback ice cream that is a coffee flavoured ice cream (RM5). A perfect treat to unwind from a long day!
