This was actually put together using premium ingredients from Phoon Huat, which is the place we always go for our baking supplies. They are also purveyors of fine foods, and sell top grade ingredients, making it possible for us to cook and fine dine at home. I'm not talking about just any caviar, oysters, uni, wagyu, and seafood. I'm referring to Beluga and Oscietra caviar, Gillardeau oysters, A4 to A5 Miyazaki, bafun uni, and Carabineros prawns.

When we heard that Nissin is putting luxurious uni in instant noodles, we went for it and grabbed 5 cups of these off the shelves. And I've just tried it.
🔸
The label of the cup says that it contains 6.9% real uni, and of course at only about S$3 per cup, we won't expect it to taste like real uni. The orange 'uni' pieces you see here had a texture that's more like a uni-flavoured biscuit that became very soft after soaking in that creamy instant ramen soup. It's nowhere like real uni, but it certainly has some uni taste to it. The instant noodles soup has a thicker consistency compared to other Nissin cup noodles, so it is creamy and had a light cheese flavour.
🔸
Also noteworthy is the noodles used here, it's thinner, and after cooking for only 2.5 mins instead of the recommended 3 mins, I liked the al dente texture.
🔸
If you would remove your existing conception of how uni taste like, then this is certainly very enjoyable.

Turns out that Phoon Huat is also a purveyor of fine foods. And after the tasting event, I bought a whole tray of bafun uni home and ate them while watching drama 😁😋

Good morning! ☀️ A cup of tea in the morning sets me in the right mood for the day.
🔸
I recently tried several teas provided by an online platform, @teapasar, which had a very wide selection of tea. Fortunately, selection is made easier using a machine learning taste prediction technology.
🔸
The platform allows you to understand your ProfilePrint, which matches your taste profile to the wide variety of tea available on the teapasar database. This means that you will not have to taste the tea before purchasing it as the algorithm can identify your taste profile and recommend teas you will enjoy.
🔸
Pictured are a selection of tea available on teapasar - from @pinteaonline, @mykittea, @kindredteas, @sucresingapore, @parchmen_co, @1872clippertea, and @camelliateabar.

Yesterday, Chef Stephane Istel of Bar-Roque Grill showed us how to create the perfect cheese fondue from these French cheeses, and that included some wild recipe - cheese with buah keluak (see last pic). This combination was beyond my imagination, but turned out so good.
🔸
The versatility of these French cheese was also showcased through easy-to-make tapas, by combining it with garlic or candied walnuts, then serving it on thinly sliced baguette.
🔸
These French cheese can be found in major supermarkets.

You know those Taiwanese versions of pineapple tarts that we love in Singapore? Din Tai Fung has a Mid Autumn box of these, all individually wrapped in a box specially designed for Mid Autumn. The box features the brand’s mascots, Bao Zai (包仔) dressed up as Moon Goddess Chang E (嫦娥) along with Hou Yi (后羿) against a pineapple moon (swipe for photo of box).
🔸
The crust is crumbly and not oily, while the fillings are not too sharp in its pineapple flavours, yet rich in aroma. So these are not too sweet nor sour, very nice. Because they're free from preservatives, be sure to finish them soon after opening it.

Now you don't have to be crazy rich to be accorded exclusivity at Yoku Moku's latest outlet at Ion Orchard, because they have a private buying room for a more intimate buying experience.
🔸
There's no minimum spend required, but I bought 7 boxes of these Japanese confectionery today when I was there!! The box is really pretty, so in-lieu of mooncakes, I'll be giving some of these as gifts to my friends while keeping the rest (with different box designs) for myself. The ones I bought have an expiry of Jan 2019, I can take my time to eat them through the year 😋😋😋
🔸
This Mid Autumn box includes 20 cookies - 8 pieces of the signature Cigare, 8 pieces of double chocolat au lait and 4 pieces of double chocolat blanc. This is available at Yoku Moku's outlet at Ion Orchard's Basement 4, or Raffles City Basement 1.
🔸🔸
[I received one box as a media gift, then I bought many more 😂]

Can you believe this is my first time trying the ever popular Ah Ma Homemade Cake? And it's the ondeh ondeh special flavour created to celebrate National Day, available only for the month of August.
🔸
I ate this on the day it was delivered, and I liked that the sponge were dense, smooth and soft. It was aromatic, and I could smell the eggy fragrance even before opening the box.
🔸
The ondeh ondeh cake is still largely a Castella cake, with subtle ondeh ondeh flavours. The Pandan base of the cake gets its flavour from freshly squeezed pandan leaves, layered with some gula melaka and coconut in the middle, and topped off with coconut. No artificial flavouring or colouring is added.
🔸
So this won't be for you if you're looking for a strong ondeh ondeh identity. But i still liked it for the smooth and soft sponge with aromatic eggy fragrance.

Launched in conjunction with our National Day, Singaporean artist Christopher Chew has specially designed this tin to commemorate Yoku Moku's journey from Japan to Singapore.
🔸
The tin is a playful take on icons of both Singapore and Japan, reinterpreting icons such as the Tokyo Tower, Mount Fuji, our dragon playground and the merlion. This is incorporated into a "snakes and ladders" game, complete with a set of wooden magnetic pawns and dice.
🔸
Each tin comes with:
* 06 x Petit Cigare
* 06 x Petit Cigare au chocolat
* 05 x Double chocolate au lait
* 05 x Double chocolate blanc
