Yknow what sets this little cafe apart from the rest?? The fact that the dude who runs this place is always coming up with new creations!! In the spirit of Christmas, they’ve come up with this delightful apple tart that is totally unlike anything else I’ve tried. I’ll try my best to describe it; the top gelatinous-looking layer actually better resembles apple-flavored sorbet, with chunks of the real fruit hidden within! Below that lies a sponge, almond mousse and then a biscuit base. The whole amalgamation creates quite a novel and refreshing taste! If anything, the only gripe I have is that the components don’t really mesh well physically with each layer separating as my fork cuts through :-( But this truly is quite a unique dessert, and healthy to boot as there’s no added sugar since all the wetness comes from cold pressed apple juice!

To end on a sweet note, go for the ✨Torta Al Limone, which sees a nutty scoop of pistachio Sicilian gelato perched atop a cloud of piquant lemon curd that is spread on a toasty lemon cake. The insides lean towards to the sweet side and are so so pillowy it’s almost like biting into a cloud!

Exclusive to this particular Matchaya pop-up store at Takashimaya, their rich Shirogoma soft serve is packed with sesame grains, granting a satisfying munch to each scoop. Just like yin and yang, the black sesame drizzle and white sesame soft serve mesh seamlessly to yield a complete full-bodied flavour that leaves one desiring more. If only this was a staple on the menu, it’s something that I know I’ll be back for! 😞 Anyway, can you guess what tomorrow’s “mystery flavor” is?? Hint: It starts with a “k”,ends with “o” and has 3 syllables...😋

This entire set-up is a sugar rush from start to finish! Thick, syrupy and most importantly, FRESH peach slices are served piping hot beneath a sugary layer of marzipan crumble - careful not to burn yourself when eagerly chowing down, each slice literally bursts with warm oozy juices upon biting!! You can beat the heat by pairing each scoop with some creamy French vanilla ice cream, which comes nestled in an intricate Florentine almond cookie bowl that’s almost as decadent as the cobbler itself. Needless to say, the final addition of the flaky cinnamon twist binds it all together and undeniably makes this plate every sugar-fiend’s wet dream! 😂

We were blown away when this amalgamation of eye-popping colours and shapes arrived at our table! Essentially two toasty “hot cakes” topped with adorable cube-shaped vanilla ice cream and buried beneath a generous scattering of berries, popping boba balls, edible flowers, etc. Interestingly, the hot cakes are really muffins in saucer form; within a brown and crisp exterior lies a moist muffin core which, though slightly denser than a traditional hot cake, still remains relatively fluffy and crumbly. The embedded blueberry studs on the top layer were a nice touch! All in all, the various elements of hotcakes, ice cream and fresh berries really complemented one another...this is truly a glorified berry muffin worth every cent!

P.S.: don’t trust the small-bellied people who claim this is for sharing!!! I singlehandedy wolfed these babies down...and with much ease!

Yes it tastes exactly like speculoos...but is that what people want when they come to Yolé? For a brand which touts freshness, this flavor certainly comes as a shock. Unlike their previous flavors, the caramelized cookie lacks the all-too-familiar biting tingle of frozen yoghurt. Instead, it has a creamy, fatty texture that coats the tongue and numbs it - very much like how ice cream does. By the time I was 2/3rds done, I was kind of overwhelmed by the sweetness and creaminess combined. Would definitely recommend just getting the plain yoghurt with speculoos sauce 😅

We could detect the all-too-familiar scent of durian even before popping these gorgeous delights into our mouths! Albeit not in a bad way; the cloying aroma merely lingered about each piece and wasn’t overwhelming in the least. In fact, it’s interesting how covertly Wan Hao has dressed this dessert, unlike other blatantly bombastic durian treats that scream “EAT ME, I’M MADE OF DURIAN!!!” whether in terms of appearance, smell or taste.

Upon biting through the crisp batter, one can immediately taste and feel the authenticity of the durian used. The hot flesh is sweet, creamy, and most importantly, fibrous which attests to the presence of real durian pulp. I really savoured every bite & nibble, though in my honest opinion, each piece could’ve done with more durian! But that’s just my greed speaking 😂

Two rather dense and soggy halves of a full crepe. I personally didn’t enjoy this due to its noticeably “eggy” taste, the only flavour standing out against its blandness. My sister, on the other hand, claims that aunthentic crepes taste like this and gobbled it up eagerly...to each his own I guess. Comes with icing sugar and maple syrup.

Probably came from a ready-made frozen pack, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad! I liked how the icy vanilla ice cream felt against the firmer and denser swirls of azuki. Furthermore, the thin layer of chocolate separating filling from wafer was a nice touch!

Needed a little sugar boost after a whole day of shopping and found this lil’ gem at the basement of 313 Somerset. In a district of innumerable fancy schmancy elaborate and overpriced desserts, this simple and cheap bowl of chendol was like a breath of fresh air! Completely average taste-wise, but I thought I’d share this cheap gem. Sure makes for a good pit stop before more shopping! 😊

I’ve always associated Geláre with those family-friendly franchises that serve sub-par food, known more for their accessibility than gastronomic experience. However, this one visit has completely changed my view! This fluffy and toasty waffle arrived piled with my 2 densely packed scoops of ice cream and generously drizzled with chocolate fudge. Though lacking in aroma, the waffles were one of the best I’d ever had the privilege of consuming; crisp on the outside and both soft and sweet within. I especially liked the cookies n cream ice cream which contained fudge-y cookie bits! However, the strawberry tasted overly sweet and a little artificial - maybe a milder second flavor would’ve gone better with the first.

I’m still wondering if $15.80 is worth it though...the same spread and standard at Creamier (which boasts handcrafted artisanal ice cream) would’ve cost a little less. Nevertheless, if I’m ever in need of a quick fix, this’ll be my go-to dessert stop!
