Malaysia Truly Asia 🇲🇾

It's been years since my last visit to @vcrlovesyou Bangsar where I fell in love with their 𝘾𝙝𝙚𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙠𝙚 🧀 and 𝘾𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙚 ☕, and this time upon my return to KL, I decided to indulge in the 𝙏𝙧𝙪𝙛𝙛𝙡𝙚 𝙎𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙫𝙡𝙖𝙭 🐣 for brunch at the Galloway branch!

I was surprised at how delicious the house made 𝙎𝙖𝙡𝙢𝙤𝙣 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙫𝙡𝙖𝙭 🐟🍃 was, delightfully plump and tender, but not overly salty like the usual processed ones that you'd get at the supermarket.

Paired with creamy 𝙎𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙀𝙜𝙜𝙨 🐣 on crispy 𝙎𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙙𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙏𝙤𝙖𝙨𝙩 🍞, the portion of 𝙏𝙧𝙪𝙛𝙛𝙡𝙚 𝙊𝙞𝙡 could have been more generous as it was pretty faint, but what blew me away was the combination of mildly sharp 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙤-𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙜𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙤 🧀 shavings and 𝙎𝙝𝙧𝙞𝙢𝙥 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞 𝙁𝙡𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 🦐🌶️ which gave the dish that little kick of spice and flavour.

Washed down with a cup of nutty and well rounded 𝙁𝙡𝙖𝙩 𝙒𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚 ☕ and well taken care of by the friendly staff with their exceptional service, it's not hard to see why VCR is one of the leading cafes in the area. 🥰♥️♥️♥️

Warm and fluffy Otak-Otak buns 🍞 fresh out from the traditional wood-fired oven, these babies took us by surprise with the amount of generous fillings in every bite. 😍🇲🇾

Stock was running low when we arrived around 11am on a Saturday morning, so we were pretty lucky to snag these together with 2 boxes of their famous banana bread! 🍌🍞 (Will review that later 👌🏻)

The buns had a nice springy texture, which put them at a level wayyyy above commercially made bread. 🙈 Old school food made the traditional way always tastes the best, don't you agree? ✌🏻❤️❤️❤️

Winding down the week with my fave Kurobuta Shabu Shabu 🥘💕, sooooo yummy and affordable for my wallet! 😋💋💋💋

The black pork is definitely the dish that makes me return again and again for more, tender slices of juicy goodness dipped in sweet and savoury sukiyaki sauce warms my heart and soul! ❤️ Don't bother with the pork cheek though, it came frozen and super tough... A little disappointed with that..

Still, Arashi offers one of the best value for money hotpots across the causeway, and I'm definitely coming back for more! 😋💕✌🏻

While everyone was queueing for the free #阿嬷老字號 castella cake 🥚🍰in SG, we went straight to their origins in Malaysia! 🇲🇾

Soooooo soooooo moist and soooooo fluffy!!!! 😱❤️ Much better than the dried out cake from Le Castella that we had previously. 🙈

The Original #鸡蛋糕 (RM13) was deliciously eggy and melt-in-our-mouth, and everyone including the elders were raving about it! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 So we went back the next day and bought more! Also got the Cheese flavour (RM15) to try, will review that once we get back to SG with our loots! 😬🧀🧀🧀

The Original won hands down! 😋❤️ I personally loved the premium cheese crepe, but everyone found it too strong for their liking~ Or maybe I'm just a cheese addict! Hahahaha... 🧀🧀🧀😅

🧀 🌎 This #hokkaidocheesetart pretty much hit the spot with a wobbly centre and savoury crust which crumbled perfectly with a crunch. 😍❤️ Baked slightly rarer than #bakecheesetart but I really liked the silky texture!
