Very Crispy Pork Knuckle, dip the sauce for more flavours, not oily at all & definitely will get this next time.
Service crew did say it take a little longer to cook.
Toa Payoh Lor 4 hawker centre: Stall #01-38. Not too shabby. The carrot cake is thickly cut and holds well. I really hate mushy carrot cake. There are bits of cai po here as well to up the flavour and I like how the black soy sauce don't overpower. Apparently the stall has been featured in a lesser known good hawker newspaper article. Priced at $2.50/$3.
With the cold weather tonight, we made an impromptu decision to give it another try, at Jin Li in TPY Central which led to a twist.
Re-tried with just a Mild- spiciness, it kinda struck the right chord. Just kindly numbing to remind of Mala, we were happily savouring everything in the bowl.
We liked Mala again (although really mildly). We would return for more which was a good thing. And perhaps a step higher of Mala next time?
Touted as being one of Singapore's best ban mian, I can safely proclaim that it does truly live up to its name. Their broth is concentrated with so much goodness from the ingredients which they used in the boiling process - ikan billis, pork bones, and prawns!
I have to admit that sheng mian (or any other forms of yellow noodle) is not exactly my top choice of noodles, and I would usually go for you mian. But, I would gladly make an exception for this store. Being freshly handmade, their sheng mian is al dante and springy. Encompassed in their rich broth, every single bite bursts with umami without it being overly salty.
Each bowl also comes with a large fresh prawn, lean pork slices, vegetables, and the two most important toppings - the egg and crispy anchovies which help to bring the whole dish together and add an extra oomph to it.
Located in Lorong 8 Toa Payoh, their snaking long queue makes this stall hard to miss. I would usually go for the soup version as it feels more satisfying to me. Even on a hot day, this bowl of noodles still feels extremely shiok🔥That's how amazing it is - definitely worth every drop of sweat and penny!

This stall has a good queue system. You order, pay, take a queue number tag and sit anywhere in the coffee and collect when you see your queue number flashed. No standing to queue! The noodle is cooked well not sticking together and the ingredients are fresh and chilli sauce was well mixed in the noodles. Overall it’s a good BCM.
$1 for this peanut pancake with add on of the peanut butter spread. This combination makes it amazingggg. Granny’s pancake stall can be found at various hawker centres:
- Hong Lim Market
- Toa Payoh lorong 8
- Ghim Moh market
- Whampoa market blk 91
Taste-wise, the plate of Hokkien mee was still flavourful with a good consistency. However, we felt that it could do with a little less garlicky taste. We also wished that the chilli had more punch to elevate the taste of the dish.
For $6, there were substantial amount of ingredients which were also nicely cooked; although the price point might be a factor for some reconsidering to choose this over other Hokkien mee stalls in the adjacent food centre.
Frankly, it won’t be easy to stay competitive to draw customers to travel here as there are plenty of good Hokkien Mee places around SG that attract regular crowds from across the island.
Located At Blk 168 Toa Payoh Lor 1 . This Is Going To Be My Favourite Fishhead Steamboat . The broth is sweet and good amount of fish and meat pie too !! Best of all their pricing is really value for money
