Otak tak with a twist

I have been eyeing Oriental Duck Confit for quite a while ever since reDPan launch its new menu. And I managed to try this time
.
However, I was quite disappointed when it was served. The duck confit was relatively smaller compared to rest I’ve tried. It had a dry skin that way too crispy but the meat was quite succulent
.
Overall, it was a feeble attempt to represent the duck confit with a Asian twist by using braised duck sauce and mandarin orange slices
.

Christmas special

Hazelnut financier, caramel pear cremeux and cinnamon crumble
.

Filled with pulut hitam (black glutinous rice), longan and coconut custard
.

Topped with laksa mayo dip

The popcorn chicken is nice and tender
.
However, the laksa mayo dip overpowered the flavour of the chicken as all I got was spicy dried shrimp aftertaste
.

Bratwurst sausage topped with mozzarella cheese, sweet relish, kaya spread and banana slices
.
*The bananas are grilled upon ordering
.
In my mind, I thought this gonna taste weird. But when I took a bite, it tasted really good.
.
Maybe because the combination of the saltiness from the mozzarella and slightly smoke character from sausage worked really well with the caramelised sweetness from the bananas
.

Collaboration between Pretz and local chicken rice chain Wee Nam Kee
.
Favourite local Chicken rice made into iconic Pretz stick
.
I was greeted by a strong chicken stock aroma when I open the packet
.
The flavours of the chicken rice were spot on
.
Firstly the aromatic chicken stock really hits you first. Slowly after each bite, Wee Nam Kee’s signature chilli sauce follow suit and then the ginger flavour comes at the end
.
A definite win for me
.

Singapore Chilli Crab in snack form
.
Made with real crab meat
.
The sweetness of the crabmeat balance the warm spiciness of the chili and the smokiness of roasted seaweed
.
And causing an incredible mix of flavour that explodes on my tongue
