📍Love Confectionery, Alexandra Village📍
💸 Buttercream Cake
💸 Pandan Cake
💸 Custard Bun
💸 Custard Puff
...
Love Confectionery is located really far away from our house, but we're glad we went out of our way to try their bakes😁. Their Buttercream Cake is so fragrant, light and fluffy that we found ourselves polishing a slice off in no time🍰. Love that there are many toppings you can choose to add to the cake, like peanut, almond, or chocolate sprinkles🍫, but we found ourselves liking the peanut🥜 and plain versions the most! They offer a variety of other cakes, breads🥯 and snacks as well, such as Pandan Cake and Custard Bun. Really appreciate such bakeries with affordably priced, wide variety and delicious bakes, wish that it was nearer to us though 😭.

📍MuYoo Bakery, Jurong Point📍
💸 Black Sesame Mochi: $2.80
...
We've had Black Sesame bun and bao before, but Black Sesame Mochi Bun🥯 is a first for us. The bun itself was soft and airy, with lots of black sesame filling inside. We liked that the black sesame filling was moist and not grainy, and not too sweet as well😄! Was concerned at first that the mochi might be hard or too plain tasting, but it was soft and chewy, which provided a nice contrast of textures😌. However, we would've preferred if the mochi was more spread out in the bun as ours was just a blob in the middle, which meant that we only got the mochi bits in the middle. Nonetheless, we liked it! ☺️

📍Dona Manis Cake Shop , Katong Shopping Centre📍
💸 Banana Pie: $3 per slice
...
The banana pie from Dona Manis is super soft, crumbly and fragrant🥧! When it came out hot from the oven, we could smell the pastry from miles away and it smells super good🤤. The banana🍌 was soft and sweet, and the coconut on top added a nice crispy texture to it🥥. We love the pie pastry itself, as it was flaky and buttery, literally crumbles in your mouth. Each slice is pretty sizeable as well, as a slice of it with a cup of hot tea makes a yummy and filling afternoon snack🍵!

🍴TAKE OUT🍴
📍Balmoral Bakery, Sunset Way📍
💸 Chicken Pie, Chicken Samosa, Chicken Curry Puff, Custard Puff, Cream Horn, Napoleon, Rum Ball, Custard Tart, Vanilla with Strawberry Jam Towel Roll: Total of ~$34
...
Traditional bakeries like Balmoral are becoming few and far between these days, so we should really cherish them while they're still in operation🥺. We're so happy to have gotten some old-school bakes today, as it's been a really long time since we had them😋. Love the huge variety of bakes here, we were simply spoilt for choice! Wanted to try a bit of everything so we ended up with 4 boxes in the end hahaha🌚. Our favourite was the custard puff, as the pastry was fluffy and soft, and the custard filling was slightly liquidy, eggy and not too sweet🍬. They were generous with the filling as well, and we thought the pastry-to-filling ratio was good! Other pastries we recommend getting are the Chicken Samosa and Rum Ball! Cheap and good~🤩

📍Nam Kee Pau, Waterway Point📍
💸 Amy Yip Pau
...
We don’t usually think of having Pau as a meal, but the Nam Kee Pau's Amy Yip Pau is a hefty one😱. It's so huge and heavy compared to a usual pau that it could be a meal if you're not super hungry🍽️! Though its huge, the taste is definitely not compromised. The skin was not too thick and the filling is juicy and well-seasoned🥩, but just a bit oily. We recommend it to be shared actually, as it could get a bit much after a while😬!!

🍴DINE OUT🍴
📍YY Kafei Dian, Near City Hall📍
💸 Sugar Donut: $1.20
...
YY Kafei Dian is known for their coffee and kaya bun, but their Sugar Donut is equally good as well😛. It's the old school kind of donut that's coated with sugar, super simple but good! We love that it's soft and fluffy, not oily at all. Best enjoyed with their strong and fragrant kopi☕~

As we were leaving, we saw customers taking away 20 donuts, that's the best proof of how good it is😂!

🍴TAKE OUT🍴
📍The Pine Garden, 529 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10📍
💸 Pandan Chiffon Cake: $4
...
Best pandan cake in Singapore🍰? Not so sure, but definitely our favourite pandan cake in Singapore 😍!! Super fragrant pandan aroma and flavour, not too sweet too. We love chiffon cakes for they're so light and fluffy and look at how Pine Garden's version just bounces up even after it's pressed down, proof that it's super airy inside💨! We could easily polish off a whole cake by ourselves😋

🍴TAKE OUT🍴
📍So Good Bakery, Triple One Somerset📍
💸 Egg Tart
...
When it comes to egg tarts, are you guys a flaky or cookie crust fan?🤔 We are more of a flaky crust fan and we love the version from So Good Bakery!👍 The crust is fragrant and flaky and the filling is soft and eggy🍳, definitely one of the better egg tarts in Singapore. Perfect with a cup of tea~🍵

🍴TAKE OUT🍴
📍Cake History, Punggol Plaza📍
💸 Pandan Cake Bread: $3
...
This Pandan Cake Bread is really like a rare pokemon😥Cake History used to have it often but we rarely see it these days, which is really upsetting as we loveeee their Pandan Cake Bread. We feel that their cake bread is really the best of the both worlds, as you get a really fluffy bread🍞 enveloping a super soft and fragrant pandan cake🍰 in the middle. There's also some cream that combines them together, hence it's not dry at all. Also, not too sweet which was perfect for us👏. They have a chocolate flavour as well, but we very much prefer the pandan one🤘🏻Please bring this back more often

📍Tan Hock Seng, Telok Ayer📍
💸 鸡蛋糕
...
Couldn't resist getting another round of Tan Hock Seng pastries, and this would truly be our last☹️. In addition to their Beh Teh Saw, we decided to get their cake as well🧁. Super eggy🍳, fragrant and slightly dense. Absolutely loved the slight sticky and sweet layer on top of the cake as well🍯. Overall, a nice light tasting afternoon snack to go along with a cup of coffee or tea☕!

💸 Beh Teh Saw ("Horse Hoof" biscuit)
...
Our parents have been patronising Tan Hock Seng since we were kids and we're really sad to see it closing down😣. We never fail to get their Beh Teh Saw and Tau Sar Pia, which are really our family's favourites👨‍👩‍👧‍👧. This time round, we only managed to get our hands on their Beh Teh Saw, which is probably our last time too. We love that the pastry is flaky and that the filling is not too sticky and sweet, which makes a great afternoon tea🍵! Sad to know that we won't be able to enjoy this in the future, but it has also taught us to all the more appreciate traditional bakeries that are still around😊.
