Tried out the chirashi bowls here at the newly opened Xchange Chirashi, located just opposite Pasir Panjang Food Centre. While the sashimi slices were decently fresh and sliced quite thick, definitely wished the portions were muchhh bigger considering its original steep price tag - we found the rice layer that was topped with furikake beneath too thin. Would be better too if there was more of a variety of slices!
We had these 1 for 1 with Burpple Beyond and the deal applies to all the donburis on their menu - each of the bowl comes with a side of miso soup.
For one, they really don’t skimp on the matcha; not in the bread dough, and definitely not in the oozy flowy custard. It’s rich, it’s got matcha’s characteristic bitterness, and it’s sweetened just right. The bread’s as fluffy as it’s moist and tender-crumbed, the perfect canvas for that thick custard filling. Psst, I hear today’s the National Doughnut Day and yes this ain’t one but I’ll tell y’all it beats some bombolonis I’ve had out there.
This is $17 nett and with Beyond 1for1 this is beyond amazing value.
All components were nicely executed.
Especially loved the bacon which was like 95% lean meat😍
French toast and Red Velvet latte were 💯 too !!
Hope this fantastic new place gains more crowd soon ❤️
Previously known as Torii Izakaya, this snazzy Japanese resto-bar at Duxton has since revamped. You're here for their decadent Truffled Beef Donburi ($28) featuring a generous beef slices, caviar, truffle mayo, foie gras and an onsen egg. Also good are the Pork Belly Garlic Fried Rice ($19) with succulent grilled pork belly, fried egg, garlic and scallion and Hearty Toro ($28) maxi for sharing.
The proteins in the salmon and beef rice bowl were pretty well done:) the edamame was rather impressive too. would have loved more sauce. CHAI LATTE WAS GREAT!! The ambience was the best part of the meal imo.
The $50+ 1-for-1 3 course meal comes with a sukiyaki truffle don, mentaiko scallops, and a drink. It was pricey but very delicious. The combination of flavours and texture was amazing and everyone enjoyed it. (I suspect it was so expensive because it uses real truffles but I couldn't really taste it so..)
The truffle fries were an additional side that cost almost $15 w/ GST+service charge, but the fries were thinner than most fries and therefore very crispy and flavourful. Highly recommend as well.
