Had Platypus Cantina today for dinner and ordered a Pork Nacho Supreme ($17.90) and a Beef Chimichanga with Mexican Rice ($23.90)!😇 Nachos were okay but not a huge fan of the Chimichanga😅
Overall ratings 6/10! Personal preference but felt that I could get better Mexican food elsewhere/should have tried other menu items instead🤧
🍖Tomatillo Rice Bowl - Carne De Res ($26.90)
The flavours of this bowl are a little more herbacious compared to the Spanish Rice Bowl, its similarly really flavourful and super good too. Ngl just very impressed!
🇪🇸Spanish Rice Bowl - Pollo Asada ($14.90)
Loaded with ingredients, this bowl is full of flavour and textures. The guac and pico de gallo are super fresh and overall just an amazing dish A+
🌮Quesadillas - Pulled Pork
The pork is a little on the tougher side but still super good, its cheesy and the sauces on the side pair perfectly.
🌵Quesadillas - Cactus
Yeah everyone was hella surprised to learn that they actually put cactus in this but surprisingly it works. Its kinda salty and has a crunchy texture reminiscent of bell peppers or okra. Super interesting and not bad!
🍗Angry Chicken Wings ($13.90)
These wings are put in a bag and shaked with seasoning, no wonder they’re so angry 🐓 these are probably some of the best wings I’ve had, theyre super crunchy on the outside yet so juicy and tender that the meat just falls off the bone. Not to mention how flavourful they are with zesty and salty elements.
🫓Trio Nachos ($22.90)
Comes with 3 colours of corn chips, 3-cheese queso dip, pico de gallo and homemade guacamole. I dont know what they put in that guac but damn its super fresh and packed full of savoury flavour, what an absolute unit.
Can I just say how impressed we were at the lively atmosphere at @platypuscantinasg? From the get-go we were warmly ushered to our seats by their friendly servers donning the iconic sombrero hats. The colourful interior and spectrum of delicious-looking drinks and food menu wow-ed us even more.😍

Taco-bout Mexican food and tacos is usually at the top of my mind. I'd say the fish tacos here definitely hits the spot with its generous fillings. Another must-have will be the taco supreme, which makes for a perfect sharing dish.😬
All-in-all, @platypuscantinasg is a spot I'd recommend for groups looking for a chill night out. Do try and reserve your seats though, it was a full-house when we visited on a Saturday night!😉

Pork Belly Chimichanga ($23.90++): a hefty parcel loaded with cheddar Mac 'N' Cheese 🧀 (or Mexican Rice at $21.90++) & fatty hoisin pork belly 🐖, this deep-fried tortilla served with guacamole 🥑 was so indulgent! The hot sauce added a nice spicy kick! 🔥
Angry Chicken Wings ($13.90++): undoubtedly our favourite! ❤️ Treat yourself to these 8 battered fried chicken hot wings 🐔 served in a paper bag, tossed with their special shaker spice powder 🌶! Love the exterior crunch, juicy wings & addictive seasoning! 🤤
Battered Fish Soft Wheat Taco ($9.90++): enjoyed this pair of soft flour tacos stuffed with crispy battered fish 🐟, Pico De Gallo, drizzled with lemon & lime creme 🍋 as well as hot sauce. 👍🏻
Carne Asada Taco Supreme ($19.90++): a hearty rendition perfect for sharing, you just can't go wrong with the combination of crispy tortilla chips, guacamole 🥑 & salsa 🍅, topped with a generous portion of beef!
The majoriy of dishes here are middling, not so these thick French fries topped with moreish pulled pork shoulder. There’s a fair tingle from hot sauce, but that’s counterpointed by a cool lemon-lime sour cream. Great drinking food.

Generous portions of unfortunately rather dry shredded chicken, with little trace of the cilantro and lime that was purportedly in there. The smothering of melty cheese and dollop of queso fresca certainly helped a ways in making this palatable though.

The reason why I avoid ordering non-fried seafood at casual eateries is because they aren’t usually fast moving items and there’s a higher chance its not as fresh as it could be. Case in point these crab and masa corn tacos, where the crab was super fishy to the point it was beyond redemption for me.

Would be perfect if churros were actually served fresh and hot after frying instead of room temperature. Chocolate was very diluted and lacked the chocolatey satisfaction as well.
Tacos were bland and toppings were very one-dimensional. On the plus side, their selection of draft/craft beers was great and their margaritas were on point too!
Just a shoutout! The platypus cantina both outlets are having this promo going on for Ma ladies. $6 a POP! Even the ones with the beer bottle hanging upside down in your drink. Cray. Pls also join their membership, because it’s worth the effort 😜
Although this isn’t even Tex-Mex, it definitely does the job. Tortilla chips are fully loaded with rich braised beef, guacamole, cheddar cheese, jalapenos, stewed black beans and salsa, making for a crunchy, moreish accompaniment to a tall, cool pint of Archipelago.
