[CLOSED] POPOTE

Was having some alone time at Popote to enjoy their daily lunch bowl set ($8.50) which comprises of a laksa mid joint rice bowl with a cup of ice lemon tea to quench my thirst in a warm sunny afternoon.

Honestly, even though the daily bowl sounds like a simple bowl but I have really enjoyed every part of the bowl. I love how this bowl reminds me of home cooked dishes with the yummy tender chicken meat with laksa gravy and the rice was served really warm!

It is a cafe suitable for people who work around the area to dine in with great ambience.

On a side note, the staff were really friendly and one of them even reminded me to be careful while eating as the rice is hot.

Prawns stir fried in red tom yum paste is definitely a sinfully indulgent dish. You can feel the spiciness echoing your entire mouth with an addictive burst of lemongrass-tomato sour flavour. The prawns are huge, fresh and succulent. Very addictive dish.

At a trip to POPOTE during its soft launch, had its baked mac and cheese-imagine creamy carbonara that flows out like lava with macaroni, ham and mushroom scattered everywhere. I am not a fan of carbonara but this is really delicious and not too surfeit. Highly recommended if you are visiting the cafe.

Located near bendemeer and boon keng mrt station within the Hyflux innovation centre, POPOTE by shio-k-yaki is a new cafe serving fusion delicious cuisines. The name POPOTE comes from the french word for "army kitchen and canteen".

Currently just one week old, it is still in its soft launch phase. I ordered one of its flavoured ice cube beverages: matcha ice cubes with milk- you can have the option to warm your milk for accelerated melting. Other flavoured ice cubes drinks include bandung ice cubes and coffee ice cubes.

They got a good selection of fusion food as well: tomyum prawns, miso barramundi and korean gochujang pasta. Other classic comfort food are available as well: I tried the Mac and Cheese which was packed with mushrooms and ham,cooked in creamy carbonara sauce beneath the baked crispy mozzarella. What I like about the carbonara is that it was not too surfeit even after several mouthfuls. Will definitely be back for more.
