More Reviews of good food at Rakuichi Japanese Restaurant (Oasia Hotel)

Elegant, understated dining room - not open like at ion Orchard. The food is innovative and quite good, albeit not reaching any wow level. Service staff are all friendly and helpful. Not sure about the kitchen staff, as the wait for the food can take forever, which is understandable for my Kurobota char siew, but also for the pastas or egg & sausage brunch dishes of neighbouring patrons. Pricey for a non-fine dining restaurant; worth it only with the Entertainer 1-for-1 offer.

Mine is the standard aburi sushi set, which includes 2 spicy pieces which I didn't quite like. But the rest were really yummy!
His is all salmon aburi, which came in 5 pieces + 1 piece of egg. Nice!

Because baby wanted to have something good, we are back here again for their aburi sushi!
Part of my Rainbow Sashimi Set (S$38.60++). The thick cut sashimi's really fresh! It comes with Japanese seaweed, which are the dark green and the pink coloured ones. The pink coloured ones tasted like strawberry haha! I was told they even sell it as a whole plate of dish itself.

We are back at Rakuichi again, but this time for their lunch. A different appetizer was served this time round - fried beancurd skin in salad style. Mixed with sour-sweet sauce, definitely makes for a good starter.

At S$8/ piece for scallop aburi and S$5/piece for salmon aburi, they certainly doesn't come cheap, but is exceptionally delicious! 😋😋

Drizzled with teriyaki sauce, it was beautifully done, making the meat tender and juicy.

We went for the option of letting the chef decide on the sauce based on his mood and creativity. But alas, it didn't turn out to be something I would appreciate. It's a unique sauce, sourish yet a little too spicy for me.

The bottom platter is part of our rainbow set and contains assorted aburi sushi. Each piece was drizzled in a different cream/miso sauce and is simply delicious! Perfect torching techniques + fresh fish + light vinegarish rice = delicious aburi sushi 😋😋 complemented by the charred spots to bring in some smokiness.
The top platter consists of salmon aburi which we ordered al-carte at S$5 per piece. Certainly doesn't come cheap, but each piece just melt into our mouths, we simply love it!
Definitely top my list for aburi sushi (besides Tatsuya)!

Throwback to last weekend's awesome dinner. This sashimi is part of the Rainbow Sashimi Set (S$38.60) which we ordered to share.
Love these fresh and thick slices of salmon and swordfish sashimi + seaweed on a bed of ice 👍👍

This appetizer of chilled salmon was served to us before our food came. The fish was abit tough as they fried it, but I think it makes for a good appetizer as it's simmered in sourish sauce to make us even hungrier for the mains!

Goma ice cream which came with the set and additional yuzu ala carte ice cream.

Salad for the delicious set coming up!

The soup's comforting and good, whilst the Chawanmushi could have been more flavourful.
