I chose the little bento. It comes with 1 base, 1 main and 3 sides. There was a chef's topping but im not sure what it was. I chose pasta as base. It tasted ok but was not warm. The scrambled egg was very yummy. The rest of dishes were ok. The mushrooms and dory might be slightly oily.

Frasers Tower is one of those office buildings which had seen most of its F&B tenants move out of its premises after during the COVID-19 pandemic — a building that was newly-built during that time period, most of the F&B operators that had occupied its shop spaces at the second level had moved out of their premises as the office crowd gradually returned to their workplaces. With the pandemic being most behind us these days, it seems that new F&B operators had since started to move into the vacated spaces — this includes the likes of Supergreen, which had opened an outlet there (they now have more than a couple of outlets that are located all across the Central Business District alone) after the success of their Marina One location. White Bird Scramble is one of the newest F&B tenants to have moved into Frasers Tower; occupying a shop space that is located right beside the shopping aisle, the space that White Bird Scramble is a rectangular lot with the longer side situated beside the shopping aisle. Whilst there is an effort made to spruce up the space it occupies, the design language of the space could only be said as “eclectic” — the use of cushioned barrel stools and tables with vinyl featuring different license plates can be said as mis-matched against the white walls and wooden floors of the space. Describing themselves as “the first & only funky scramble toast concept in Singapore” on social media, they have also claimed that they are an establishment that serves up “French Bento” — a unique selling point considering how bento is a term more associated with Japanese dining culture. Essentially, White Bird Scramble does bento with a focus on its scramble eggs — patrons can either go for bento boxes with pre-determined toast, signature scrambled eggs, mains, sides, dressing and topping, or go for the “Create Your Own Funky Toast Meal” option where one can mix-and-match from the variety of dishes in the above-mentioned categories that they serve up. Beverages available at White Bird Scramble includes a variety of canned drinks, though the menu also mentions of a few fruit-based drinks featuring Aiyu Jelly and Chia Seeds as well.

Dropping by White Bird Scramble during their lunch service on a weekday, we skimmed through their menu and decided to opt for the “Create Your Own Funky Toast Meal” option — there are actually three different portions uses that are being listed in this section of the menu; the Little, Balanced and the Biggie!. The main differences between the three would be the number of mains or the number of sides that come with each portion size that is opted. For the Balanced in the “Create Your Own Funky Toast Meal” option, patrons are entitled to go for 1 toast / base, signature scrambled egg, 1 main, 3 sides (with the flexibility of four sides if one were to skip on the signature scrambled egg), 1 dressing, and 1 topping. Our choice of toast would be the Buttery Brioche Toast, whilst we opted for the Signature Scrambled Egg, Sauteed Mushroom Medley, Sauteed Spinach, Romaine, Bacon, Garlic and the Oven-roasted Cauliflower, Curry, Cumin for the sides to come along with the dish. For mains, we went for the Oven Roasted Cajun Chicken Thigh with Burnt Lemon, whilst the dressing that we had chosen would be the Ah Ma's Sriracha Spicy Dressing. The topping which we went for would be the Parmesan Cheese. Overall, the idea of a French-style bento at White Bird Scramble seems to be more akin to that of a big breakfast platter, with more substantially-portions items that would work well as a filling lunch. Our favourite element was no doubt the Oven Roasted Cajun Chicken Thigh with Burnt Lemon — the meat being reasonably tender and juicy and came with a bit of savouriness and smokiness for a good flavour; the Oven-roasted Cauliflower, Curry, Cumin was also interesting considering how it does carry a somewhat Indian-influence in its execution considering the elements involved. Meanwhile, the Signature Scrambled Egg was runny and came with a small syringe that is filled with olive oil that came with a savoury element that provided more flavour — a great accompaniment to the lightly sweet and pillowy soft brioche that we had opted for. Other elements were decent and good to have; the Parmesan Cheese being sprinkled atop the Sides that we opted for except the Cauliflower, Curry, Cumin, while the addition of bacon provided a flavoural and textural contrast to the Sauteed Spinach, Romaine, Bacon.

To be really honest, we weren’t actually expecting much out of White Bird Scramble when we made our visit to the establishment — the design of the space and its menu does make it seem a little funky and haphazard; some may even think that it is a little cheesy considering how the menu contains descriptions that can be said as not-too-grown-up to inject a bit of fun in the character of the space. Case in point would be the description for Fusilli as an option for the Base — it is being listed as “gimme pasta! fusilli for me!” on the printed menu, while the Pretzel Bun option is being mentioned as “Pretty Pretzel” in the printed menu as well. That being said, it does seem like a constant theme throughout the entire establishment and its set-up; it’s eclectic nature being part of the character that they have set up White Bird Scramble in a way to loosen up the tensed feelings of the office workers that they are targeting whom are working around the vicinity. Overall, we did feel that the execution of the different elements in the Balanced option for the “Create Your Own Funky Toast Meal” menu to be really well-executed — despite some being rather simple items to execute, we did like how there were additional touches made to the flavours and the texture of the dishes that puts it one notch above the toppings that one would get from a takeaway salad bar that are aplenty in the Central Business District; this does add on to the artisanal touch which they attempt to provide. With that being said, one thing we did wish that they can improve on would be on the temperature of the food — given the dishes that they serve up, we did feel that the dishes would have tasted even better if they were kept at an optimal temperature that provided for more warmth; some items did feel a tad dry. The Balanced from the “Create Your Own Funky Toast Meal” menu is priced at $17 — itself a pretty substantial offering that should reasonably feed one hungry person, though those with a smaller appetite can opt for the cheapest option; the “Little” from $13 onwards; the most expensive being the “Biggie!” is priced at $21++. Whilst not the most wallet-friendly option, White Bird Scramble does work as an interesting dining destination in the Central Business District that office works can splurge at for something a little different from the usual.
