From a stall name 益有 at Jalan Berseh Food Centre. Noodles were decent, and the meats were pretty good. They seemed to have roasted their meats in house for they have a charcoal roaster within the stall; the char siew (requested for fatty char siew) was glistening, coated with sweet glaze that carried a bite and a bit of smokiness from the char. The roasted pork was crisp and more on the leaner side, savoury and smoky. A good deal for $3.50; really really value for money!

Chicken Basquaise is a way of French Basque cooking where bell peppers and garlic are cooked till almost melted, and onions caramalised. Chicken thigh was roasted, and remains tender and juicy with its flavourful roasted skin. The sauce has absorbed the flavours of the ingredients well; tasted particularly strong of bell peppers yet warm and soothing. A simple yet classy dish that tells a lot of its execution, despite it being a dish that does not give that wow-factor in the gastronomical department.

Cooked twice for 36 hours, there is no denying in how tender the meat of the Duck Confit was when it came off the bone so neatly, and the flavours so savoury yet without hitting anywhere near the salty scale with a skin so crisp. Coming in a bed of potato purée, the sauce seems very similar to the Mushroom Ragout appetiser which is no doubt delicious, but could have been more gastronomic if it contained a different element that we have yet to taste in the menu.

Headed down to Neh Neh Pop to try the Mango Sticky Rice flavour but had to make do with this one as they are out of Mango Sticky Rice and I had tried the remaining flavours on sale. Orange Blossom Ice-Cream filled with Baklava chunks and covered with dark chocolate dip covered in nuts, the flavour was rather similar to Fruity Pebbles covered in chocolate and nuts. Not sure if Baklava should taste this way but definitely something different from the usual.

[Dunman Road Food Centre] How many Chinese Rojak stalls you can name that's serves an excellent plate of this salad? Just like how our culture is formed, every component into making this rojak plays an important role, from the grilling of the youtiao, types of fruits used and the technique behind mixing the sauce with the ingredients. Lau Hong Ser Rojak is one of my top 3, together with Hoover Rojak and Silver Stream Rojak. Waiting time can be horrendous at a minimum of 30 mins but it's all worth it once you sink your teeth into it. It was so good that I ordered a takeaway portion for my family members to share. I think the rojak is the quintessential reflection of our nation as different cultures come together to form a harmonious family. #hawkerpedia

We also ordered a salmon sashimi, $19.90, just because I wanted to try the other set menu that offers free flow of 20 side dishes. Was I impressed? Not quite so with the side dishes (quite meh actually), but the bara chirashi is indeed a steal!👍

Heaps of well seasoned sashimi thickly cut! One may agrue that seasoning might have overwhelmed the sashimi taste. But I still can taste the freshness and texture. Value for money, I will be returning to this place again!

Strawberries and fresh cream sandwiched by 2 freshly made buttermilk waffles and drizzled with maple sauce sealing the deal in. A scoop of white chocolate and blueberry to sweeten the deal. The waffles magically disappeared within minutes between the 2 of us.

Banana bread with yoghurt, caramelised banana, maple syrup and toasted macadamia nuts. More of a soury, sweet dessert to me 😊

One simply cannot leave the Lokal with trying this! Their sticky date pudding with their hocky pocky ice cream! The pudding and the ice cream are of extreme temperature placed in the same plate and bringing the best out of them!
