Tucked in the corner of a coffee shop along Thomson Road, Sin Ming Roti Prata has generated quite a following for their house-made dough and freshly made pratas. While this means you have to wait for your prata, it's well worth it considering you will be getting a hot, fluffy stack. Try their coin pratas for really crispy, fun bites at 6 pieces for $3.50! Probably the most famous place to get murtabak in Singapore, this century-old restaurant serves up some massive murtabaks. Adding an extra kosong prata at the base and additional minced mutton on top, this murtabak needs to be shared (or not, if you're a big eater). Go for the chicken, full flavoured, well-spiced and tender, or the deer if you're adventurous! If you're sharing, go ahead and order some briyani too. Photo by edwyn c.
Always loving my bowl of flavourful soup and is MSG free :)
Saw a queue before I even stepped into the small coffee shop, means I didn't go to the wrong place. The laksa gravy was SHIOK! Along with the noodles, fish cake and fresh hums, together with the special chili..... I keep slurping till the last mouth. At $2, I was rather satisfied! People with bigger appetite should order more then one bowl!
Honestly, so so, I've had similar quality without the queue.
Been to this place many times, since the day it opened and has witnessed the many changes it has made along the way. Definitely, it always strive to improve. Not the best in Singapore I must say. But a pretty decent one. One that I don't mind going back to for comfort, food, drinks and conversation. And the plus point is, it is near home!
Fresh clams sautéed in white wine, garlic, parsley & lemon. A little on the salty side, but nothing beats a plate of clams! Definitely a good dish to go for if you're just peckish.
Just because the Magic isn't consistent.
Lusciously creamy
The good folks of Group Therapy now provide sanity and comfort in the East, with their second outlet located in the basement of Katong V. This spacious retreat feels rather different from their first at Duxton, but the food is quite the same. Enjoy a good cup of coffee and their go-to Eggs Ben if you're lazy to travel all the way to Duxton on the weekend! Photo by Veronica Phua
At this two-storey shophouse along Bukit Timah, bring a small group of friends and for a hearty brunch. Go for the 62 degree eggs benedict with smoked salmon ($22), and finish with the slighty odd but insanely delicious French Toast that comes with fried bananas, and is stuffed with chicken, spinach and mushrooms and finally smothered in strawberry-smoked maple syrup.
