I came with my friends for the first time here and we had a really good experience. The ambience was cosy and the service was excellent.

My favorite dish was the Crab Mentaiko Gratin. The presentation of the food was really unique (my friends were all ready to take pictures), and the dish was so good it melted in my mouth. I wanted to order more of it but since it was our first time here, we decided to try other dishes as well.

My next favorite was the deep fried squid ink batter, followed by the spicy salmon don. We had Sake as well, which went really well together with the food!

Overall, I had a great time there and I would definitely come back and recommend my friends to come!

I love how they used smoked bacon when preparing this dish. Mix every up together and scoop this on that to-die-for sourdough to start your day right. Pair this with a cup of latte with beans from jimmy monkey roasters 🔥🔥🔥

Inspired by the local breakfast sets at “kopitiams”, Firebake has just introduced their own take on it.
Surprisingly good value at $4.50++, it comprises of two half-boiled eggs, housebaked milk bread (the soft mini loaf is made with sourdough, milk, flour and salt), Belgian butter and either a cup of “kopi” or “teh”. For seasoning the eggs, they provide “tau eu” (black soya sauce), salt and pepper.
I highly recommend topping up a dollar for the kaya which is handmade in small batches for Firebake by an aunty friend of Chef-owner “Tino” Blokbergen and his wife. The time that lady spends hand-stirring to get white sugar to this level of golden caramelisation is not to be sniffed at. So when you think about it, the $1 is nothing really.
Apart from this Breakfast Set served between 8.30am and 11am daily, they also have freshly baked items for purchase as well.

Apparently a must try so we ordered this. The Wave and the Field was our favorites! The Valley was way too sour for our liking. Would be great if they had homemade butter as well though. $10 for these variety of breads.

$1 - $3 per stick

Total personal record 55 sticks 😂

Affordable pricing and cheap!

Open till 4am good place for supper

Favourite fish soup that my buddy and I always go for whenever we can spare a little time to queue. Sadly, the portion of fish seems to be smaller now. Prefer their fried fish as it's meaty and crisp from frying it on the spot. But honestly both are good - the fish used here are very fresh! Soup is tasty, accented by the milk but isn't overly milky. I believe it's also lightly spiked with a tinge of Chinese rice wine to bring out the flavours.

Had black sesame toast ($3.5) with kopi c ($2.2) this morning. The kopi c is pretty pricey compare with normal chains. The black sesame toast is nice but may only have it once in a while given the price.

Not the first time I've had the Mentaiko Salmon Donburi ($18.90, +$1 for onsen egg) but I don't get to eat it often so I kinda get surprised everytime by this well-thought out bowl with layers and layers of flavours and textures that work so well together.

The star is, no doubt, the thick slab of salmon perfectly cooked, moist and flakey; but then there's also the garlic chips, torched mentaiko, generous furikake and tobiko toppings for the fun pop in your mouth.

Tender beef slices, flavourful well-balanced gravy from the spices but was thankfully not spicy. Comes with Japanese rice and onsen egg. Quite a hearty bowl for food coma to ensue at work!

I was transported to heaven upon my first spoonful of this decadent Varhola Manjari 64% Supreme goodness! The alcoholic content here was on point! ✌️

Short Rib Bowl ($16.80) from the newly opened Wolves(?)/Wolf(?) at Chevron House. Reasonable portion of short ribs seared and while it wasn’t melt-in-the-mouth, it was tender enough. However the peppery flavours were a little heavy for me, so the radish was a good idea. Rice was garnished with furikake and well overall it’s a decent bowl. Not something that I’ll particularly crave for but satisfying enough if I don’t mind a splurge, but tbh at similar price points the flavours of WaaCow! works better for me. Quite a good variety of rice bowls tho there were only 5 options when I was there. Would like to try the salmon mentai but it’s $18.80 so I probably need to give my wallet a break first 🤷🏻‍♀️.
