Perfect date night spot Our experience here was perfect - delicious food set against a classy ambience and warm lights. But that's not to say that the prices are high - the dishes here are really worth the quality plus the HH oysters and drinks are so so affordable! We had 6 oysters at only $14 and they were so delicious. The server will even take the time to explain their origins and flavour profiles if you wish. The Yuzu Caipiroska (HH $15) packed a double punch of booziness and sourness, but in a good way! On to the food, we started with the Crab Croquettes ($15 for 3 pcs). Exterior was well-crisp without any heavy greasiness, and the insides were warm and oozing with potatoes and flakes of crab meat. My partner had a funny comment though, that if she ate this without knowing, she would have thought that the filling was the Ayam brand salmon mayo spread. I...agreed. Next, we had the Hispi cabbage ($17) which unfortunately was the letdown of the meal. We really wanted to like this, but the flavours of the baby anchovy and asiago cheese didn't really gel well with the cabbage. The cabbage sweetness should be more pronounced but unfortunately I could not appreciate much of it. However, the star of the show was hands-down the Crab Zucchini Pasta ($28). So buttery, rich, and flavourful, the pasta with the sauce alone was already so damn delicious. Completing the dish were the generous chunks of sweet crab meat as well as slices of zucchini adding a touch of freshness. We loved this. Food, service, and vibes were all amazing. I will definitely be back.

Kurobuta Pork Chop | $58 Most expensive but also allegedly one of the more notable item on the menu as recommended by their staff was the Kurobuta Pork Chop. The pork chop had a nice sear and decent tenderness, but I thought it was lacking a tad bit in its juiciness. I quite enjoyed this Japanese inspired dish for its sesame miso jus, giving just that slight tinge of sweetness and umami combination. The pork crackling garnish was a nice addition. Kale was also a nice accompaniment to cleanse your palate with every piece of meat. A nice option if you aren’t on a budget, but I do think it’s slightly pricey for what it was. Rate:🌟🌟🌟

Squid Tempura | $17 Lightly battered squid with a dash of seaweed powder. Especially enjoyed it because it was not too oily nor too heavy. And the garlic dip was an extremely delightful complement for this snack. Rate:🌟🌟🌟🌟

Great zichar in the area Among the many high end restaurants and bars located around the area, lies this inconspicuous zi char restaurant that was really pretty decent, while being relatively affordable! Their Fish Meat Soup ($20 for medium) is one worth commenting on. The soup itself is light, not multidimensional but still decent. What's good is their fish chunks which were huge and fresh! Many pieces were given as well. Love how meaty and flaky the pieces were! Their Yang Zhou Fried Rice ($15 for medium) came generous and I loved how fluffy the rice was. This has loads of wok hei and charred bits which flavoured the rice well. The Claypot Bringal with Minced Pork ($18 for medium) was also another dish we liked. Loved how the dish had so much umami flavours and that the bringal was really soft! Best paired with rice. Prawn Paste Chicken ($15 for medium) was unexpectedly good. Honestly, the colour of the fry was pale and we didn't expect it to be delicious. However, the outer crust was so crispy, and so full of umami flavours! The chicken was well marinated, as the seasoning penetrated the chicken well. Darn addictive! The Poached Chinese Spinach ($21) is a good vegetable option, as it not only came with salted egg and century egg, it came with flowy poached eggs too 😍 Flavourful but not too salty, this is a good break from all the rich meat dishes. I wouldn't say that the dishes were particularly mind-blowing, but they were definitely comforting. A zi char restaurant I will come back again for!

'Kam Heong' Chicken Kam heong chicken is a Malaysian Chinese dish packed with so many flavours. The sauce creates a very complex flavour of spiciness, sourness, sweetness and brilliantly savouriness in this dish. This is ideal to go along with rice and the chicken is tender, well marinated and chopstick-licking good 》$10/small

Big Prawn Hor Fun This is definitely the star on the entire menu. Hor fun drenched in thick gooey seafood gravy bursting with umami along with hints of spiciness. The big prawns were fresh and the portion was good with the right amount of wok-hei. It's legit good! 👍 》$19/small

Blackmores’ Cube Roll 🍴DINE OUT🍴 📍Burnt Ends, Dempsey📍 ... Can't believe almost a month has past since we dined at Burnt Ends... 😐 It was tough getting a reservation towards the end of last year, but we were lucky to have scored one! We had an absolutely amazing dining experience. From small plates, main courses, to dessert🍬, the food was exquisitely presented and we loved the combination of flavours. Do try their Blackmores' cube roll🥩...it's THAT good! 😌

The Populus Scramble The Populus Scramble consisted of basic ingredients like turkey bacon, croissant, scrambled eggs with herbs (essentially spring onions and big red chilli). Not a very good photographer (esp for food), but plating was well done, enough for me to take like a pro for once. The textbook scrambled eggs was a win for me, the herbs gave it a slight Asian twist. But apart from that, nothing to shout about, no complexity nor depth in flavours. Croissant was very mediocre, and after 3 mouths it was all really one-dimensional. I couldn’t finish it. It just did not make the cut for such price point ($22 bef GST & svc charge). Hesitant to come back, but if I do then I’d probably try something else. Also, there was not much viable options for my poor vegetarian friend. Her favourite mushrooms were already pre-mixed with garlic so no customisations. Ratings: Taste - 7/10 Price - 5.5/10 Ambience - 7/10

The Refinery🍝 Went to The Refinery for dinner with colleagues 2 weeks ago and had the Mentaiko Aburi Pasta ($24) along with other sharing items such as Cauliflower Fritters ($10), Refinery Wings ($12), Chicken Karaage ($13), Mentaiko Fries ($12)😇 The Mentaiko pasta was good but got a little gelat after awhile. The other sharing items were delicious😍 Overall ratings 9/10 as the ambience was good, staff were helpful and food was delicious!💯 Would definitely visit again!!

Asia Fusion Came here for lunch. Ordered the Gyu Don v2.0 ($16), Yummy Tiger Prawn Pasta ($20) and Sweet Potato Caramel Latte ($6). Gyu Don v2.0: Thinly Sliced USA Beef Shortplate cooked in Aromatic Reduction & Caramelized Onions, Tempura Onions, Japanese Pearl Rice, Onsen Lava Egg. Beef slices were well marinated and tender. Tempura onion on the other hand was disappointing. Soft and unseasoned. Yummy Tiger Prawn Pasta: Linguine, Creamy Tom Yum Sauce, Tiger Prawns, Cherry Tomatoes, Kaffir Lime. The tomyum flavour was not bad. The prawns however do seem a little small and somehow I feel that using fresh prawns would be better for this dish. The sweet potato caramel latte was excellent. Milky, creamy, sweet and delicious. Highly recommend getting this drink. Service was not bad. Servers were attentive enough to top up our water.
