Love love love the mint chutney. Soggy because it’s soaked in gravy, I was surprised it was such a delightful messy treat! Having eaten from this stall a couple of times, I really recommend it because the lady is really nice and they make good thosai!! It’s in the 2nd lane beside the Muslim stall.
I really enjoyed this thosai as it had a unique alcohol flavour, due to the fermentation of the batter. The dough was sufficiently sour and the texture was chewy yet crisp on the outside. My favourite comfort food for lunch!
A hidden gem definitely. Used to have trouble finding affordable (price and PORTION wise) food in town but after discovering this place I AM SOLD. The kimchi soup with pork was generously filled with vegetables, tofu and egg and not at all watery. Paired the red bean rice, the soggy yet chewy grains were an absolute comfort. The beef bulgolgi was well-balanced (not too sweet) and not at all oily. Love the humble setting and the amazing food!
Delicious tandoori roti! Made fresh. Had a crispy exterior and chewy dough. Tandoori chicken was well marinated but dry. Daal is chargeable though....... ...............
From the stall that is constantly making fresh naan. LOVE LOVE LOVE the tandoori roti. The nuttiness from the whole wheat flour and the chewiness from the dough made it a perfect base for the chicken. Even better, they make it fresh! The daal was thick and spicy and the mint chutney was refreshing. Both complemented the dish really well!
Really impressed with the quality and price of Indian food that Tekka Market offers. I think it’s the best place to get your Indian food fix!
Portion is quite small for the price ($19.90). But the stew was really flavourful and meaty! Beef chunks were also tender. Worth a try!
Located in a humble Kopitiam. Thought the standard was alright, above average Kopitiam western food (nothing much to shout about). Quite worth it if you have Burpple beyond. For $32.50 you get 2x pork chop, lamb shoulder, chicken and sausage platters.
Wanted to try the pork knuckles but they were sold out! Remember to call to reserve!
Got this from the Vietnamese stall at the corner on the first row. Pleasantly surprised! Generous amounts of chewy beef slices (I like my beef slices with a bit of bite) in contrast to the soft kway teow soaked in the intensely flavoured soup. Add chilli flakes for a kick and the lime for a refreshing lunch treat!
Although it’s only $14 (with soup and chawanmushi), the quality of the fish is great. I love how the slices are not too thin and the fish is still really fresh. There is also a great amount of tamago, radish and ginger that balances out the heaviness from the Japanese rice. One of the places where they don’t skimp on quality just because of a lower price!
Decent bowl for the price! Salmon was fresh (but could be torched a bit more) and loved how they don’t skimp on the other ingredients. A really good place to get your fix of Japanese dons without breaking the bank! Service was excellent too!
The stall it’s called Hock guan(I think). Has its own crowd, but I feel it pales in comparison to the rest of the popiah stalls there. Ingredients didn’t gel well together. Turnip was too sweet and under-seasoned. Only good thing was the skin.
Love the combination. The crispy thosai with the earthiness of the mushrooms and the savouriness of the egg. Dough was lacking in sourness though.
