Mellower Coffee is really my only go-to for coffee, especially if I need a conducive environment to finish my work. Their coffee is nutty, with a relatively stronger coffee strength, which is why i always order with less coffee for a lighter cup. I prefer going to the Tanjong Pagar branch as it’s a lot less crowded compared to branches like Bugis

Love the aesthetics of the cafe in general, with a lowkey vintage vibes. The coffee here is sourced from Common Man Coffee Roasters, which has a dark roast and bitter note

Sandwiched between the chicken rice stalls and other local flings along East Coast Road, 40 Hands Coffee has also decided to incorporate Singaporean flavors into their menu.

Intrigued by the ridiculously high price for a Tau Sar Pau, we decided to give it a shot, to see if it’s really a cut above regular kopitiam paus. At 4 times the market price, it’s definitely overpriced, but admittedly, the filling is slightly less sweet and cloy compared to the 80c ones. The earthy tones of the red bean filling also pairs well with the blend from Common Man Coffee Roasters.

Their signature milk tea which is disguised as a cup of brown sugar fresh milk is actually just a cup of Taiwanese Milk Tea. There was barely any hints of brown sugar. It was actually pretty good; not too sweet with pearls with a soft but chewy texture. However, it’s definitely a lot more than I’m willing to pay for a cup of Milk Tea.
-
We also tried the Meringue Milk Tea. Not only does the Meringue serve as bonus beauty points for photos, it’s similar to milk foams which adds a little touch of sweetness to the milk tea.

Birds of Paradise’s line-up never fails to impress us. This time, we tried their Basil, Rose & Lychee Sorbet and Sea Salt Hojicha.
-
Basil 🌿 : The basil tastes exactly like a basil leaf. Earthy, aromatic. Most importantly, genuine.
-
Rose & Lychee Sorbet 🥀 : The floral notes acted as a good counterbalance to the sharp tang and freshness of the lychee sorbet.
-
Sea Salt Houjicha 🍵 : The houjicha flavor could definitely be more intense. But the bigger problem is the lack of saltiness.

We recommend getting the Set, which costs S$25 per person as it is a lot more economical. The fixed ingredients include chicken meat, chicken meatballs and assorted vegetables including and not limited to lettuce, fresh black fungus, enoki mushrooms and yellow zucchini.
-
The set meal is sufficient, but leaves stomach space for additional food. The Wagyu Beef (S$25) has pretty good marbling and a deep beefy flavor. We’re not sure when the promotion will end, but we managed to catch the 1-for-1 when we were there.
-
You can also opt for the Meat Combo (S$25) which includes beef, pork and chicken for variety.

If their beautiful floral designs aren’t enough to reel you in, maybe their food and drinks will.

Signature Fruit Tea | $7.8 🍒
The most expensive fruit tea we have ever ordered, the Signature Fruit Tea was refreshing. But we feel that it could have had a higher ratio of tea to fruitiness. In our opinion, while it was good, it wasn't really worth the money.
-
Kokyo Matcha Bubble | $6.5 🍵
If you’re getting something for the gram, this IS the drink to get. This creamed swirly creation combines the earthiness of the matcha with the natural sweetness of the brown sugar.
-
Avocado Milkshake | $5.8 🥑
Albeit slightly icier than a milkshake should be, the taste of the Avocado Milkshake was spot on. Not too sweet, with a right amount of bitter notes from the avocado.
-
White Peach Oolong | $4.8 🍑
With a good balance of tea and fruit, the light aroma of the oolong strikes your taste buds first before leaving you with a subtle peachy aftertaste.
-
Original Tiramisu | $8.8 🍰
It certainly pops as a birthday cake or a sweet treat for your friends. However, when it comes to the flavors, it was lacking in depth that traditional tiramisu should have- the bitterness of the cocoa powder, the deep tones of the rum against the luscious mascarpone cream.
-
Brown Sugar Bubble Tiramisu | $8.8 🧁
To our delight, it didn’t have that sugar rush element that some brown sugar drinks entail. The brown sugar taste was mild, deep with a houjicha sort of bitterness aspect to it.
-
Our verdict? The tiramisu isn’t worth the money unless you value aesthetics over taste. And for the drinks, despite the higher price, they’re definitely something that we will come back for.

A new, and rather promising gelato shop has popped up in the vibrant streets of New Bridge Road 🦋

$4.9 for single scoop, $8 for double. BUT... from now till 24th Jan, enjoy 50% of the total bill as they celebrate their grand opening. We tried a number of flavors (thank u samples) and here are our favorites.
-
The Pistachio, with its deep nutty flavor. Not the strongest aroma, but definitely the creamiest we have tried. Paired it with the Burnt Butter Sage which has a rich buttery mouthfeel, counterbalanced by the freshness of the sage. Personally, I’m more of a cup>come person but their handmade cones were simply irresistible. Incorporating pepper into their crispy cones, which burns through the decadence of the gelato 🍦

Other flavors worth trying are their Hazelnut and Matcha 🥳

Honestly, I never had faith in ramen which are priced too low. Quality ramen requires love and effort to cook which ultimately results in a higher cost. But Suparakki debunked my theory by charging ONLY $7.5 for a bowl of Tonkotsu Ramen. The broth is rich, flavorful with a deep porky flavor. It tastes almost as good as Tonkotsu King’s but is only sold at half the price 🥴 The chashu was rather average, but the quality of the broth and springy noodles can definitely compensate that aspect

Definitely one of the more expensive cakes I’ve had, with an average of $10 per slice. The Tiramisu was rich and had deep flavors from the rum and cocoa, but was slightly to wet for my liking. It had more of a mousse than cake texture. We also had the Yuki Raspberry Cake which had a fluffy and light texture, with bright, fruity notes.

Was quite disappointed by the flavor and texture of the burger, especially since it looked so promising! For one, the chicken cutlet was kinda soggy. The overall flavor was rather mediocre as well. I would’ve been way more satisfied with a McSpicy to be honest. But their Mozzarella Cheese Sticks were quite legit!

Bought the Unagi and Iberico Pork Bowl (i think it was a seasonal promotion) and absolutely loved it! The iberico pork was tender despite having a low percentage of fat and the umami flavor was brought out with the intense grilling, with a subtle charred, bitter flavor! The unagi, with a firm texture, was surprisingly good too for the price
