With harissa, arugula and smoked cheddar on wholewheat sourdough, this is the best grilled cheese toastie I’ve had in MONTHS.... This winning combination was so damn delicious I had to go back a second time in a week.
Few things to note: (1) Mother Dough does these toasties only on weekends (from Fri-Sun) and the flavours change monthly. (2) The bakery cafe is quite small and sits about 12 indoors and 6 outdoors, and it gets overwhelming crowded at times. (3) Popular breads and pastries do get sold out fast!
Definitely not for the faint hearted, but you will be duly rewarded so plan your pilgrimage well!!
As if this burger needs any more introduction, Shake Shack’s Shake Stack came highly recommended. The flavours from the mushroom, cheese, and meat patty complemented really well - juicy, crispy and savoury all at the same time.
This casual humble skewer joint is the perfect place for a chill weeknight wind down with some friends. Being right beside the Geylang River means breezy evenings even with outdoor seats. Though small, Sa Tae Bak serves a really wicked selection of yummy bites, guaranteed to please even the pickiest of eaters.
I have too many favourites, but if I have to choose, I'll start with a plate of Cold Tofu with Century Egg ($3.50) for sharing. Then, I'll enjoy some grilled skewers and bites — the juicy Thigh with Leek ($1.50), some tasty Quail Egg with Mentaiko ($2), Rice Cake enveloped in Bacon ($2), Pork Belly with Onion ($2) and Shemeiji Bacon ($2.50), ending with a nice Grilled Fresh Oyster ($4.50). Ahhh, all these whole sipping on some cold icy Highball ($6).
What a beautiful evening.
As a huge fan of the savoury and sweet pairing, I absolutely loved the cheese foam on oolong tea! Be careful not to mix the two layers too much, so as to really savour how the two distinct tastes complement each other!
Would have to say that $5.50 is abit of a pinch, but I’m still looking forward to trying other beverage options :)
This, my friend, is what dreams are made of.
Well seasoned with the perfect amount of crunch, the roasted pork here is BOMB DIGGITY. It’s so sinful but you just can’t stop at one! The charsiew here is also super delicious and well caramelised with a good amount of meat to it, unlike those dry thin slices you get else where. The Hakka noodles was also good, but this entire meal felt really greasy after a well.
If you are not a huge fan of strong flavours, I would say give the noodles a skip because the meat dishes are not to be missed!!
For me, the star of this dish has to be the unassuming fries! They were so super crispy yet fluffy at the same time, got us wondering how could something so simple be so addictive. The steak itself was pretty decent as well, which was well cooked to my preference. I also enjoyed the accompanying sauce - robust yet zesty :)
Really enjoyed this dish, as the sweet lobster meat nicely complemented the savoury soy sauce. The glass noodles that sat below the lobster was also very satisfying as it absorbed the distinct crustacean flavour!!
On the downside, the soy sauce dressing can get pretty salty, so drizzle it in moderation!!
Priced at $1.90, TH’s classic egg tart is one of the more expensive ones in the market. Despite so, this is still one of my favourite egg tarts.

It’s savoury butter crust is unlike the typical butter shortcrust or the flaky crust that you’ll usually find. Paired with a sweet wobbly egg filling, this tart is a delicious afternoon snack that you really should try if you are around the area!
The cake was fluffy and the buttercream was not too rich. It’s a good cake, but it’s not impressionable enough.
