New on the Yi Dian Xin menu, falls under the ‘Deep Fried’ section, but easily qualifies as dessert.
Crispy sesame ball, chewy sweet potato dough filled with orh nee. Enjoyed that it’s not too sweet, best eaten with their Pu-Er tea.

While it’s tough to pick a favourite amongst the extensive choice of cafes within Melbourne, Proud Mary’s Coffee definitely comes in top three. We’ll definitely revisit every time we’re here and will order this:
Potato Hash with poached eggs, streaky double smoked bacon, kale salad and bagna cauda (Italian sauce made of anchovies and cream).
Over the years they’ve made a few variations but it’s always hearty, soulful and fulfilling.

Have time for a road trip during your Melbourne holiday? Try the tasting flight of Melbourne-born Four Pillars Gin. Their suggestion: Best paired with Fever Tree’s range of tonic waters. Was a real insight viewing the facility and the entire distilling process; an excellent way to spend the afternoon. You’ll be able to purchase Gin at their retail shop too, although I’ll suggest to get the limited edition ones as you’ll be able to find the rest in Singapore.

Probably the most instagrammed croissants down under. Big love for the architecture of their kitchen space. Lune’s Croissant are good, albeit a tad sweet for me, but my favourites so far will include the Ham & Gruyere Croissant and the seasonal Salted Caramel Macadamia Croissant.
They hold up so well that we’ll usually make a trip, grab a box before heading to the airport. Holds up superbly well throughout the flight and you’ll just need to pop it into the oven for a few minutes for a tasty treat.

Spy a queue for gelato? Get into it!
Best thing we did that night. Newfound gem, probably my favourite Gelato shop right now in Melbourne apart from Gelato Messina.
We had the White Chocolate Chip & Mint, and their Coffee Gelato. The texture is AMAZING, almost malleable when they spade it into your cup, it’s mesmerizing to watch. Very artisanal and creative flavours, there’s definitely something for everyone.
Pidapipo has expanded and currently has 4 outlets within Melbourne, I’ll still vouch for their quality; top notch.

Chips with smoked beef brisket, melted cheese and @thirdwavecafe’s housemade spicy BBQ sauce. They don’t scrimp and even have melted cheese between each layer of fries.
If you’re a fan of animal-style American Smoked BBQ meats, here’s the place for you!

Run by a humble French lady, her pastry shop in the heart of South Melbourne Market.
I daresay her classic Croissants and Pain au Chocolat taste better and flakier than a certain other renowned Croissanterie within the same city. I’d love losing myself in those layers; I mean, just look at them!
Skip the queues, head to Agathé.

We had way too many pizzas that one night, and this was definitely the best tasting one of the lot.

Our lack of foresight led us straight to this hidden gem! @takeaway.pizza
Run by the same owners behind @dexter_melbourne, this forty-seater eatery caters mostly for takeouts. Their recipe of that insanely tasty pizza crust is something we’d love to get our hands on.

The SmokeShack and Shack Stack were, equally scrumptious. Here’s the low down.
Go for the SmokeShack if you love your double cheeseburgers but expect some next level char on your patties, extra savouriness from the smokey bacon and the grand slam finish with a zingy tomato salsa. Decadent level: HIGH.
Feel like you deserve an extra treat after pulling those weights at the gym? You’ll want the Shack Stack. It’s @shakeshack’s signature Cheeseburger sandwiched with a crisp fried croquette of Portobello and melted cheeses. A very rich tasting burger with lots of texture, probably need to wash it all down with a couple of root beers.
Having tried Shake Shacks from around the world, I daresay that Singapore’s Coffee Hand-Spun shakes are hands down the most indulgent (not the watered down diluted version elsewhere); found out later that locally it’s made with @commonmancoffee. Caffeine addicts, here’s your cue!
Approximately 50bucks for 2pax.

Still our favourite go-to Roasted Chicken Rice. Tender roasted chicken in a sauce generously flavored with sesame oil. I’ll always request for an additional saucer of fried garlic-shallot mix (bottom right), it goes well with everything including their soup of the day (usually Cabbage or Radish Corn or Peanut). Soup refills and free achar are a bonus!
Totally digging their implementation of the queue number system; it allows you to sit and wait at your table once you’ve ordered till your food is ready for collection. Less overcrowding at the stall itself. Makes everyone happy.
