It came with a small side salad, ramen noodles , and the other ingredients in the pot include cabbage, some other leafy vegetable, and SO MUCH TAU GAY The monstrous amount of tau gay made the whole broth taste like nothing... but tau gay 😔. Only after we topped up the soup nearer the end, did I get to taste the actual broth, and it’s actually very tasty on it’s own! But also because of of the amount of ingredients, mainly beansprouts, the soup took very very long to boil 🥴 Ok, to be fair it’s interesting, and really isn’t bad for the amount that they give you, but it’s honestly just a novelty dish. Crispy Eggplant, Homemade Flat Bread With Labneh & Duck I think they’ve taken the duck off the menu; it was cooked nicely and quite tender. The flatbread was my favourite, as this was pretty tasty and delicious with the creamy labneh. The crispy eggplant was okay, but the batter could have been lighter!

Halloumi to me, is a fabulous ingredient to feature in salads; which is why I almost always have it if it turns up on a menu. This Halloumi & Squash ($16) number comes with sweet pickled beets, collard greens, almond flakes, and a nutty burnt butter dressing. Sounds fabulous, but unfortunately the seasonings were a wee off and it turned out a little meh. The squash for one, though well roasted, was completely unseasoned. Would’ve been fine if the burnt butter dressing had a touch of salt, but there was also way much of that sweet pickling juice added in which tipped the whole salad onto the sweeter side without good balance. They were also too heavy-handed with the dressing, leaving me eating basically greasy vegetables sitting in melted butter. The biggest disappointment however has to be the halloumi: the semi-hard cheese was fried to the point of being just crazy tough. Honestly if they’d just refine each component and pay a little more attention, this could be a fabulous salad.

Self-saucing pudding (aka lava cake basically): a dessert so simple to whip up, so utterly basic to put it, yet so incredibly satisfying. Especially when you’ve got some crunchy hazelnut praline crumbled over, and decent enough vanilla bean ice cream to go with. Ainch gonna say it’s the best I’ve had or whatevs, as long as it’s oozy and gooey and flowy I’m good.

Guinea Fowl The guinea fowl was redolent of hearty winter flavours - two tender and well-marinated slices were drizzled with a fragrant sauce made from juniper berries and duck jus. It was served with a single carrot and chestnuts that added sweetness to contrast the tangy jus. Insta: cafehoppingkids

Recommend: Claypot Angus Beef cheeks "Bourguignon" And Duck Confit with Wokhey Horfun! Love the fusion dishes here, and how the Masses team take the time to explain the concept of the dishes. Ps. Hope the below dishes will stay, as they rotate their menu every 4 months Tender angus beef cheeks in claypot that comes with "bourguignon" which is essentially it's braised sauce with onions, carrots and thick slices of non-fatty bacon (thankfully), also it comes with creamy mash. All the flavours come together not in an overpowering salty way, but executed smoothly and slightly reminiscent of your chinese claypot styles - full of gems and tastes. ($24.90) The duck confit deserves a shout out too, we wished there's more of the wokhey horfun, and that it comes piping hot (was slightly lukewarm), but matched with the salted egg and tender duck confit, simply irresistible. Also one of the rare dish where I felt the salted egg complement it well and wasn't too loud. ($19.90) Was slightly sad that their Ochazuke was no longer on their menu!

No Wonder It's A Signature - C&C&C&C Pasta 4 Cs standing for crabmeat, caviar, chorizo and confit lemon - served cold and with lobster bisque. This is an appetising way to start a meal because of how it's creamy, light coat of seafood sauce with sweet and salty tones. Plus, check out that generous mountain of crab meat! Love the burst of flavours with the bits of caviar. Must have dish, the flavours are well mastered but I find it great to share - so you can get to eat more! ($14.90 for starters, $19.90 for mains)

"Pastourmas" Spicy Pastrami & Salami ($16) Back at Ergon for a quick bite. Decided to try the pastrami on toast this time - another of their best selling toast items. A toasted slice of sourdough loaded with a sweet pepper spread, slices of pastrami and salami and topped with 2 fried eggs. Really tasty but sits on the slightly greasiest side from all the meat oils. I think the octopus on hummus is still my fave. Also pinched a bite of the apaki smoked pork + feta cream cheese (in the background) and I loved the cheese!

Crispy red snapper with saffron bisque over a bed of parsley risotto and garnished with broccolini, pea blossoms and artichoke chips. • Visually, this was stunning. The bright green of the fresh vegetables and pea risotto contrasted with the reds and browns of the snapper and saffron bisque. • Compared to the lobster pasta in my previous post, the smoked red snapper didn’t have such a distinct flavor but it was unanimously the dish of the night with its myriad of textures. You got the crispiness and flakiness of the snapper, the creaminess of the risotto, the slight bite of the broccolini and the crunch from the artichoke chips. Combine this with their individual flavors that each component had to offer and you get a winner of a dish.

Located on the 3rd floor of Orchard central, the restaurant is a bit scattered due to the weird layout of the shopping mall but haphazard seating doesn’t stop them from serving up quality food. • One of the dishes that I enjoyed was the Lobster Fregola Sarda Pasta. The fregola ($28) was gently simmered in an intense lobster bisque, before being mixed with a generous amount of crab meat. A similar texture to gnocchi, the dish was topped with an onsen egg and parmesan shavings to amp the umami factor making it a serious struggle not to lick the bowl. • However, do note you have to pay a dollar for tap water 😒

Lunch set at $21 nett comes with coffee or tea of the week (available only Mon-Fri from 11.30am to 2.30pm). I quite like my cream pumpkin risotto - though I thought it wasn't al dente much, it was clever to have the black vinegarish sauce added in to help give the cream pumpkin a nice lift. Place felt like a ghost town though... what's up with OC? 😳

Egg Tarts from Leung Sang Hong Kong Bakery! They have 2 kinds of tart bases: a Hong Kong style layered one vs a Western style biscuit one. I actually can't tell the difference between the two. The Hong Kong one would be better if it were more layered, flaky and airy. The Western one would be better with some salt crumbs rubbed in and more butter. Main redeeming factor is the smooth, bouncy egg custard. Overall, decent but not my favourite. Price: $1.50 per piece

HK Egg Tarts ($1.40) Someone bought this for me from the Tiong Bahru and when I first tried it, I went OOOH. Think flaky crispy crust filled with a smooth egg custard centre! 😍 I quickly googled Tiong Bahru egg tart and this super old school bakery popped up. It makes me so happy to know that such charming, old school bakeries like these still exist. While the egg tarts may not be as fragrant or as buttery as the ones at Tai Cheong or Honolulu, for $1.40, I have no complaints. I’ll definitely visit the store myself one day and eat these egg tart babies while they’re hot!

Bee Hoon I got the bee hoon with chicken wing and egg. Tasty Bee Hoon comes with outstanding fried shallot & bean sprout which are more obvious in this case. It had the right balance of moisture, not too wet nor dry. Noodles will thinner too. When bite, you can feel the Q-ness of it. Chicken wing although arrive lukewarm, but its taste retain wonderfully, still can taste some of its crispyness, and beautifully soaked marination as a whole.😋 Chilli lean towards the dry side, cooked with ikan bili to give some bites. Spiciness between mild and medium.

Like any popular stall, there’s usually a queue. I had the Chicken Set ($3.50) which comes with rice, fried chicken wing, ikan bilis (anchovies), peanuts and cucumber and a good amount of sambal chilli. To complete my meal, I added a begedil a.k.a. potato cutlet ($0.50) and otah ($2). So I found the rice to be quite fragrant but the texture was slightly inconsistent, ranging from fluffy to lumpy. It could do with a bit more coconut milk though. The highlight would be the fried chicken wing. But it was a little overrated. While it was crispy and had a nice marinade, the meat was a tad dry and didn’t have much flavour to begin with. The ikan bilis (fried anchovies) and peanuts were crunchy. I like the sambal as it’s sweet and spicy. Personally, I would prefer a sambal that is spicier but this solely my personal preference. As for the add ons, the otah wasn’t too spicy and I could taste the coconut milk in the paste. Begedil was pretty average - probably because I didn’t have it when it was freshly cooked. Okay la, I think it’s decent but not say really power. I’ll have it again for sure if I’m in the West and need to satisfy my nasi lemak cravings.

Thunder Tea Rice First experience with Lui Cha was at Boon Lay Hawker Center. It was good! I didn’t expect it to taste like this but wow, no wonder there is always queue for this. But no worries, the queue is fast. Opt for brown rice for healthier meal.

Great dessert Ordered: Black Sesame Paste Grass Jelly Black Glutinous Rice With Vanilla Ice Cream Rice Ball Mochi Love the traditional setting and they have a wide variety of dessert. Highly recommend the black glutinous rice!

Rice Ball Mochi ($2.40) Doesn’t look like much but this was really good! Came w 2 sesame & 2 peanut rice balls which were hot & chewy but soft at the same time. So good, must try!!!! 😍

Aloe Vera Honey Lime ($3.30) We thought this was pretty meh even tho they were v generous w the aloe vera. Think a lot of honey was added as well bc we felt really thirsty after this! We would not recommend this 😟

🎶Cause I don’t CAKE when I’m with my baby, yeah~ All the bad things disappear~🎶 I can deal with the bad nights (or days) with this Tochiotome Strawberry Dessert Roll Cup ($7) from @chateraise.singapore! ❤❤❤ . Featuring an abundance of Hokkaido fresh cream 🇯🇵 sandwiched between swiss roll cake layers 🍰, this beautiful creation is then topped with premium Tochiotome strawberries 🍓 straight from Japan & a blueberry just for contrasting of colours. 👌🏻 Do not expect really sweet strawberries, but I actually appreciated the tartness! 😋 . The swiss roll cakes were not the soft & fluffy kind - slightly on the dense side but very eggy 🍳 & tasty (tasted a little like honey cake 🍯 to me). I’m usually not a fan of cream but their light & milky 🥛 Hokkaido fresh cream made an exception! Overall, I liked that it wasn’t overly sweet nor heavy, making it a delightful dessert! 💕

Châteraisé must surely take the cake this year as they are offering a whopping 24 different Christmas cakes this Christmas, all imported directly from Japan. The highlight of the collection is the Xmas Fruits Train (S$90). Each carriage of the train is made of a different confectionery. There are roll cake, strawberry Napoleon pie, Gateau Chocolate and fruit cake. Don't you agree this is so eye-catching and sure to please the various palates? I tasted several cake samples, and what stands out is the lightness of the creams and sponges. Really tasty, thanks in part to the milk from grass-fed cattle living at the Yatsugatake foothills. This is one shop where I'd recommend you to just stop reading this post and head straight to the shop. The rows of colourful cakes in the display chiller will have your eyeballs popping out in delight.

Ice Cream Double scoop cup: chocolate mint & caramel. It was pretty decent treat for a personal indulgence. Yummy!
