Finally got to visit their new space at Marine Parade after a long hiatus after they closed down the Cassia Crescent shop. Quite a pity for they had reduced the selection of cakes they have, with around four layered cream cakes available and seemed to have more focus on gelato instead which comes with waffles. The consistency of the gelato was pretty good; sticky, creamy and smooth less some shards of ice sticking around within, while the Bailey's flavour was pretty evident without being too heavy-handed on alcohol. Would probably work quite decent if paired with a waffle.
New in the Tanjong Pagar neighbourhood is Kite, a sexy little restaurant cum bar concept along Craig Road. The food is served dim sum-style, served in a series of small plates. Some successful, unusual combinations include the Salmon ($14) cooked at 42 degrees Celsius — soft and smoky, topped with sesame, and accompanied by seaweed and jelly-like apple cubes. Also, enjoy the juicy Black Spanish Pig ($18) which comes with a crisp skin, the perfect partner for a a cocktail or two from here.
Pro tip: Pop by during lunch with your colleagues as the set lunch menu ($25/$30 for three/four courses) allows you to try most of the small bowls, plates, and desserts available for dinner — definitely value for money!
Another one in the Tanjong Pagar neighbourhood is Kite, a sexy little restaurant cum bar concept in a shophouse corner at Craig Road. The food is served dim sum-style, in a series of small plates. Some successful, unusual combinations include the Salmon ($14) poached in vanilla oil at 42 degrees Celsius — soft and smoky, topped with sesame, and accompanied by jelly-like apple cubes, three types of seaweed, furikake, then dressed with a sesame dressing for an umami punch. Also, enjoy the uber juicy Black Spanish Pig ($18) that's done medium rare while sporting a crisp skin, and balanced with chestnuts, walnuts, apple and plum — the perfect partner for a cocktail or two. Finally, the Sugee Cake ($10) with orange, ginger and yogurt is a dessert that you should save stomach space for.
