Gula Melaka Avocado [$8] & Rose Raspberry [$8] He bakes, she makes. Absolutely love their whole aesthetic and concept. Everything is really chill and cozy. Cakes were soft and moist with unique flavours. Can鈥檛 wait to go back.

Lemon Lavender Honey Cake Newly opened at Everton Park, the better half is a gorgeous bakery cafe to visit for its instagrammable bakes and decor. Ordered the lemon lavender honey cake which costs $5. The hint of citrus was a nice blend with the florals, melty sugar frost and lavender honey sponge.

Gula Melaka Avocado Cake Moving into a brick-and-mortar shop space at Everton Park recently, The Better Half serves up specialty coffee and a wide variety of cakes and bakes in the quaint neighbourhood, though with limited seating both indoors and outdoors. Being one of the items which had caught our attention while skimming through the variety of bakes and cakes on display at the counter, the Gula Melaka is double-layer cake that features Gula Melaka Sponge, Gula Melaka Avocado Buttercream and Toasted Almonds. Really liked how the cake was not overly sweet; the Gula Melaka Avocado Buttercream is the main driver for the flavours of the cake here 鈥 the mellow sweetness of the Gula Melaka with its deep, earthy undertones completely matched the buttery smoothness of the avocado-laden creamx while the Gula Melaka sponge was rather light and fluffy. Despite its height, the Gula Melaka Avocado Cake is pretty manageable; a cake that is not too dense nor sweet and comes even with a herb-y (rosemary?) note that helps to cut through the slight tinge of sweetness to keep things interesting and providing a harmonious contrast of flavours. A space we would most certainly step in again for a quaint setting with satisfying cakes and good coffee; that is also pretty much depending on luck hoping that there are empty seats while passing by the small space...

smores + strawberry lemon second try! these two were hands down the best pies from their selection (not that ive tried many but i cant fathom that other pies could be better than these) smores: so good and very gao, id totally js eat the custard out of a bowl. very chocolatey and rich, you'd be tempted to eat this slowly to savour the taste. strawberry lemon: sooooo yummy. the tart flavour of the lemon perfectly balances the sweetness of the pie + the strawberry bits were perfect. this is heaven. yum: 10/10 PLEASE get

pineapple passionfruit yoghurt + coconut lime vodka first time here at windowsill pies!! pineapple passionfruit yoghurt was nice 鈥 apparently the yoghurt were the white chunks we thought were nougats HAHAH v tangy and sweet coconut lime vodka was intense. pie was mainly lime with vodka cubes, the whipped cream on top was coconut but tasted underwhelming thought two pies were too little for my friend and i but the flavours are intense and we got satisfied pretty easily! seats are limited tho. got these with chope vouchers yum: 8/10!

Pies & Tarts These fellas know their stuff. Not every pie worked for me, but that means you'll find something to like here. Special shout out to the petit tarts. I liked the first (from left), an adaptation of Pierre Herme's hazelnut dessert, and third, a pistachio tart featuring pistachio financier, Sicilian pistachio cremeux and Iranian pistachios. Don't miss the fourth, a verrine comprising foie gras ganache, cognac gel, fig, hazelnut dragees and cherry jam.

Madeleine鈥檚 Original Portuguese Egg Tart. Located at 198 Tanjong Pager Rd, Singapore 436997. . . 1 for $1.80, 6 for $10. Simple but delicious tea break on a slow Monday! Egg Tarts ($1.60 Each U.P.; On Burpplebeyond) I hardly have any Portuguese egg tart reference points to compare the above to; yet I found these flaky tea snack something I鈥檇 get again especially when I stay in the East. Out of the entire flaky shell- base, 95% of the munching experience was a pleasant one save for the 5% where I tasted tasteless dough. The egg custard was not too sweet to resound other burpple review recounts; and very eggy, as if to re-emphasise the point that you are having EGG tarts 馃槀
